What our customers say about their holidays

It is a nice little cottage and cosy.
It was a shame that the fireplace and bread oven don't have some form of lighting, as the room was quite dark, even with the wall lights. The neighbours were very pleasant and the people in and around the village are very nice. There were one or two little issues. Although the owner had said that there was a problem with the plugs in the sink and basin, I found no problem with the sink, but when I put water into the basin in the bathroom and had pushed the plug down, I was constantly chasing the water down the plug hole, so you either had to keep the hot and cold tap running all the time you were washing, or fill the basin right up and wash before the water ran out. I felt this issue could have been solved by a new rubber ring on the plug, possibly. The shower seemed to be a bit stop start and luckily I was only washing my hair. it was almost like an air lock in the system. The back gate was getting more difficult to get in and out of, as it has either dropped or the latch doesn't fit properly. Make sure you take throws with you for the sofa and chair, whether you are taking dog/dogs or not, I am glad I took mine, as the sofa and chairs were a little marked in places as is the cushion on the window seat. More informative leaflets on places to go, walks, etc would be nice. The one telephone number missing in the welcome pack is the local Vets in case of emergency. Also an idea of where the nearest Supermarkets are would have been nice. Other than that, as I say it was nice and cosy and fairly quiet, but the lane was a little busy with traffic on occasions as it's the only access road to and from Kilve beach.

Mill Cottage is one of the best, if not the best holiday home we have stayed in. We holidayed there in July with our daughter, son in law, their two daughters (12 and 14) and the dog. The accommodation and location were just perfect for us. We were fortunate with the weather and we could get out to run, walk and visit favourite haunts (my husband was born in the area and our daughter has fond childhood memories of this part of the country) The cottage was very well equipped particularly the kitchen, which had very good quality utensils and pans etc. unlike many holiday cottages. The garden was perfect for the dog to run around in and we all loved the stream. It was evident a lot of thought had been put into furnishing and equipping the cottage. Annette was very helpful and we knew where she was if we wanted to see her, but we had exactly the right degree of privacy. As we love the area, it is very likely we will book Mill cottage again. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

The location on Westcott Farm was great...private but near to the farmhouse should we have needed anything (which we didn't). The owners were friendly and helpful but kept a low profile. The cottage was well situated for exploring Exmoor, the Quantocks and the coast. The last few miles of road to the cottage were narrow but there were plenty of passing spaces. The local pub (The Royal Oak) served good food and was very welcoming. The garden to Mill Cottage was near perfect...a good size, nicely secure with respect to our dog and a relaxing place to sit in the sun with a G&T. There were several nice walks from the cottage, including a footpath to the pub. The use of a car charger for are EV at a very reasonable rate was another plus. We've stayed in 30 or 40 UK cottages over the years and in all honesty we'd place this one in our top 5.

Woodedge Cottage is a modern well fitted out cottage in a quiet part of the village of Porlock.
There is good access to the village five minutes walk down the road, or the woods and walks just to the west. The layout of both the downstairs and upstairs is confined with not much room for a party bigger than two. Downstairs you step directly into the lounge with only a doormat for changing boots or, as in our case, drying dogs. There is a gap under the stairs which became useful as a storage for boots and bags. Upstairs is a good double room, small single and the small bathroom, with a decent shower and no shortage of hot water that we noticed. The material state of the cottage is good with a modern fitted out kitchen which is essential for a self-catering holiday. There is a dining table and chairs provided, but we did not use them. The television and internet connection worked well for all of our stay. Throughout it is well decorated and clean, with good beds and some cupboards for clothing in the main room. Outside the garden has a picnic style table to sit at but the whole front area would benefit from a makeover or just a good trim and tidy as plants were starting to intrude on the seating and path. Parking is available nearby in a few places.

Three generations stayed at Mill Cottage for a Christmas break and we had a lovely stay. Mill Cottage is one of a few properties on the farm but it genuinely does feel like you have so much space to yourselves, as the windows of Mill Cottage all look out towards the large garden, stream and hills beyond. The rooms are larger in 'real life' than the photos suggested, with the kitchen especially large (and very warm!) with a large table in the centre which easily accommodated us all and our Christmas dinner! We appreciated the decorated tree and the mince pies on arrival, thank you
