What our customers say about their holidays
Jennifer Anna Maria - Verified booking
We had quite a short stay really .
Not long enough quite honestly The property is lovely and we were met by Abi who is the perfect host and gave us all the guidance we needed. She is the kind of person you warm to immediately A couple of nice touches too Some gorgeous eggs which have to be the best eggs ever and a lovely cake which went down well with a coffee. The property has an ambience about it which my wife Jen commented on as soon as we were in and settled .It has a natural karma about it which was tangible. You know when a place feels right ,and this absolutely did It is quirky which adds to the charm .Its comfortable ,has everything you need if you went down the self catering route. We ate out mostly .We recommend the Lantern just up the road .Would have walked but it was a little damp that evening .The following day was better with sunshine so it made up for it . The garden is beautiful so when we're back it is definitely a place we'll spend with a good book. The location is so quiet save a few farm vehicles and there is absolutely no light pollution . Little Yaffle has to be up there with the best of them Abi will explain where the name little Yaffle came from .We had no idea Don't google it .Abi's explanation is much more interesting . Don't alter anything Abi.We loved it. Till next time x Trevor and Jennifer from Essex ( near Maldon)

The owners were very helpful and available when we called or texted them.
The cottage was clean. The location of the cottage is within a shared area with neighbouring cottages and hot tub and a swimming pool. The cottage was very nice for a short stay however few improvements needed. - Provide guides/instructions for the property (we didnât notice there was a freezer at the back of the kitchen counters until the end of our trip) - The heating was not working. It was very cold the first night as we only had one electric heater. After asking the owners we noticed there was a spare fan heater. - The cottage could do with a coffee table by the sofas for when you want to watch TV and eat. - Pathways to the cottage could do with some lights as it gets very dark in the evening and it is a long walk from the entrance of the property. Having to use mobile flash light can be difficult when you have bags to carry. - We were expecting there to be basics like salt/pepper/sugar/milk but none was provided given the price we paid for the stay. However basic kitchenware provided.

The place was nice and cosy.
I think privacy was my issue. There was a lack of it. I stayed 4 nights with my partner and we arrived late the first night, the next morning l felt the owner was trying to make himself visible to say hello which wasnât necessary. And they also took note that we arrived late the night before..not sure why it mattered to him. They also have their childrenâs/grandchildren roaming the garden and they have a bench right next to the snug where they sit which again is a lack of privacy because they would sometimes sit there when they know weâre staying there. The driveway is stone but where you are designated to park there is an awful lot of stones and sometimes your cars tyres would sink and it may be slow getting out of the stones. And itâs the only place on the driveway with too many stones. A lot of insects too you will wake up with a few spiders on the walls and ceilings. If the privacy was greater I would recommend it.

Yes this place is in a very quiet village but be prepared for the local agricultural noise associated with the countryside.
Thankfully the garden is secured away from the road (excellent for a dog), as is the parking, because the huge tractors that rumbled past on and off during the day will open your eyes. There is a limited amount of dog walking area locally but the spinney and unofficial "paths" make for enough dog exercise. As there are no shops in the immediate vicinity, be prepared to take some food items with you (15 mins to large shops). The property owner Abbi was lovely and very helpful and the supplies left by her made my stay enjoyable. The village is quite small and pretty much the only facility there is The Lantern Pub.... definitely worth the visit, a little pricey but the food and drink is excellent. Be prepared, take wellies if you want to walk as it is a very rural area and the roads are quite narrow and the tracks are quite muddy...all in all, no complaints.
