What our customers say about their holidays

Sykes description of this property, in my opinion, is a misrepresentation.
It does not have a combination microwave ,but a normal one .. no dining table only a nest of tables .. we could not cook anything so had to eat out every day...when we ate at the property we had to eat off two trays... no bath only a shower .. no adequate storage facilities. .. we had to live out of our suit cases on the living room floor There was a small clothes rail and a basket filled with blankets, located in the living room .. the bed was positioned next to the wall so had to climb over each other. Storage was one underbed drawer full of blankets etc. To drive out of the property we had to reverse out on to the main road due to other vehicles that were in the driveway. . This is not a barn conversion,in my opinion, but a large garage conversion. .. the outside wall is next to the road and every time a vehicle goes over a grate in the road it sounds through the property .. the sofa was covered with two throws and was not stylish in any respect and uncomfortable. The property was cramped and not what we expected for £616 a week. .. The owners were very nice people and the welcome gift of cream scones and wine was a nice gesture .. we agree the property was clean and tidy but that does not make up for a weeks holiday accomodation which was not what we expected.. had a true description of the property been advertised we would not have booked it. ..Too small and cramped for two people. ... A wonderful and unexpected delight of the holiday, was a stay at Sycamore Lodge, in glorious countryside at Higher Dacre Farm, Porkellis.
We had been touring Cornwall for many weeks, looking to buy a home in the County. Staying in different holiday homes each week, in various places for the purpose, we experienced many types of accommodation. Sycamore Lodge is our favourite. From the open and warm greeting of Meg upon arrival, to the generous treats awaiting us in the Lodge, we had a wonderful and relaxing time there. The freshly cut flowers, sumptious Cornish cream tea, lovely wine and Doggie treats were all so welcome and appreciated. The lodge is perfectly equiped with everything required for a comfortable stay and is spotlessly clean. The company of beautiful cows in the neighbouring field, cute rabbits everywhere, foxes, swallows and owls completed the picture. A tip for your stay there. Step outside the lodge after dark, to witness the most amazing views of the Stars above!

Good property to chill out and unwind for few nights in total peace.
The village has a nice pub only 2 minutes walking from the property. Overall, all good, the bed was comfortable and big enough for 2 people. There is no door in the bathroom but a curtain; I guess for a couple it is ok, maybe not ideal for a couple of friends. No door or curtain between the bedroom and the living room/kitchen, but the lodge was dark enough to allow you to sleep well. Upon arrival, we found 2 scones with clotted cream and jam and a bottle of Prosecco. The owners have been in touch with us since before we got there to ensure everything was fine and also when we left to make sure there were no issues with the property.

A custom built chalet on Meg and Anthonyâs farm.
On arrival we were met by Meg who showed us round. We were greeted with a welcome pack including milk and treats for the dog. The property has been built, furnished and decorated to a high standard, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable, warm, very well equipped with plenty of towels and immaculate bed linen all of which were very good quality. The bed was very comfortable, the central heating and hot water were in our control and there is a log burner which was laid ready for lighting with plenty of fuel, if needed. Hosts were friendly and available if needed but were totally unobtrusive. Would highly recommend this holiday home!

Lovely accommodation, very clean and a step-up from many others we have stayed in of this style with ensuite bathroom, king size bed, walk-in wardrobe, dishwasher, larger beds (suit teenagers) and fantastic hot tub.
Great location for exploring both the north and the south coast. If you have teenagers and/or are keen cyclists, I would recommend hiring bikes and spending the day cycling the coast to coast trail (old mine tram tracks from Portreath to Devoran) which is on the doorstep. Scenery is stunning and my boys loved it! Body boarding in Porthtowan and Perranporth is a must too. Would have given 5 stars but owner is busy working hard, finishing building other lodges surrounding this one so a little bit of building work happening in front of lodge (was not noisy though), otherwise view over mining valley is quite pretty.
