  Mill Cottage is one of the best, if not the best holiday home we have stayed in. We holidayed there in July with our daughter, son in law, their two daughters (12 and 14) and the dog. The accommodation and location were just perfect for us. We were fortunate with the weather and we could get out to run, walk and visit favourite haunts (my husband was born in the area and our daughter has fond childhood memories of this part of the country) The cottage was very well equipped particularly the kitchen, which had very good quality utensils and pans etc. unlike many holiday cottages. The garden was perfect for the dog to run around in and we all loved the stream. It was evident a lot of thought had been put into furnishing and equipping the cottage. Annette was very helpful and we knew where she was if we wanted to see her, but we had exactly the right degree of privacy. As we love the area, it is very likely we will book Mill cottage again.   A lovely, well appointed cottage. The location on Westcott Farm was great...private but near to the farmhouse should we have needed anything (which we didn't). The owners were friendly and helpful but kept a low profile. The cottage was well situated for exploring Exmoor, the Quantocks and the c.... A lovely, well appointed cottage. The cottage was well situated for exploring Exmoor, the Quantocks and the coast. The last few miles of road to the cottage were narrow but there were plenty of passing spaces. The local pub (The Royal Oak) served good food and was very welcoming. The garden to Mill Cottage was near perfect...a good size, nicely secure with respect to our dog and a relaxing place to sit in the sun with a G&T. There were several nice walks from the cottage, including a footpath to the pub. The use of a car charger for are EV at a very reasonable rate was another plus. We've stayed in 30 or 40 UK cottages over the years and in all honesty we'd place this one in our top 5.

  The accommodation, garden and setting was lovely and I would recommend staying here.

  I only have three small niggles, which have been commented about by others who have stayed before us. if the owners rectified these it would only make the holiday experience in their lodge even better. The showers did require a hand rail, especially the en-suite walk in one which can be used and appreciated by a disabled person. The addition of a DVD player in the living room, to give extra choice on a dark wet evening. The side gate to keep children and pets safe within the back garden is I understand a newish and appreciated addition. With keeping dogs safe in mind though, the front gate and hedge and side fence between the two properties does need wire being added. A smaller dog can easily get through and wonder. This is a worry when getting dogs in and out of a car, and one does not want to have to keep putting them on a lead, or having to check where they are all the time whilst unpacking on arrival or repacking on departure. This is the second time I have used Sykes cottages and have found them very efficient and helpful and reasonably priced.

  What a lovely place!

  ! This new [ well a year old] traditional looking home is just wonderful. It may look like a log cabin on the outside but the inside is beautifully and tastefully appointed in the most modern style [Shiona obviously has an eye for these things]! It was a home from home with everything you could need for a lovely holiday. The weather was scorching and having the bi-fold doors in the family room made it easy to be out on the patio - where there was a table, chairs and parasol - plus a BBQ for al fresco dining. The master bedroom had doors onto the patio too - and we slept with them open, it was so hot. The lodge is ideally placed for visiting South Somerset and Dorset. We visited the Yeovil Show - great fun, the heritage railway there, Weymouth [ twice], Bovington tank museum, the Fleet Air Arm Museum and the Haynes car museum - plus Wookey Hole and Street [the Clarkes Outlet Village]. We loved watching the planes from Yeovilton - and counted the helicopters coming home every evening! A great holiday - thank you!

  Three generations stayed at Mill Cottage for a Christmas break and we had a lovely stay. Mill Cottage is one of a few properties on the farm but it genuinely does feel like you have so much space to yourselves, as the windows of Mill Cottage all look out towards the large garden, stream and hills be.... Mill Cottage is one of a few properties on the farm but it genuinely does feel like you have so much space to yourselves, as the windows of Mill Cottage all look out towards the large garden, stream and hills beyond. The rooms are larger in 'real life' than the photos suggested, with the kitchen especially large (and very warm!) with a large table in the centre which easily accommodated us all and our Christmas dinner! We appreciated the decorated tree and the mince pies on arrival, thank you
