What our customers say about their holidays

Liked the property overall, the bed was very comfortable & loved the open fire, but there were issues with facilities.
The heating was not on on arrival, three radiators switched off & we had to figure out how it worked to heat the house up. The bathroom was always freezing with the heated towel rail working every now and again. We did eventually learn how to turn it on but were always out before it heated up. Cooking facilities were poor. The cooker hood needs a good clean and bulbs replacing. The roasting tin and baking sheet were rusty and unusable, there are only two saucepans with lids and three small milk pans - why is a proper set not provided? Couldn't turn the oven on & had to phone up for instructions as there were none. Despite having three welcome folders there were no instructions for any appliances. The washing machine is not level, rocks on two feet & had to be wedged up with a book to stop it roaming around the kitchen. Had to buy an airer to hang clothes to dry. Had to buy a new plug for the kitchen sink and had to improvise a plug for the bathroom sink. Had to buy a set of allen keys to tighten up the table legs to stop it wobbling around (& potentially collapsing). The weather was poor with conditions outside very muddy. No mop was provided so, unfortunately, we couldn't clean the floors properly before we left. Towels provided are tiny & only just fitted round our waists. If we'd known would have brought our own. We enjoyed our stay overall, we don't usually let poor facilities dampen our enjoyment, but are very disappointed to have again paid a high price for a UK holiday property that fell short. The location is lovely but is definitely not worth the money we paid.

1 Millstones was an ideal holiday cottage for the two of us and our dog but plenty big enough for two more people in the twin bedded room that we did not use. The house was absolutely immaculate, very comfortable and very well equipped. The garden was sunny, large and very pretty. It was also safely fenced, so we felt confident that our dog could not escape. Not that he would have wanted to — he loved both house and garden. We took his bed and sleeping crate and he was totally happy. Walberswick is a lovely place. It has a good village store and an excellent little delicatessen, The Black Dog. There are also two tea gardens. We enjoyed wonderful walks through varied landscapes, and on lovely beaches, including a fun walk to Southwold including the famous Ferry ride across the small river, the first time our dog had been in a boat. He loved that too. The cottage kitchen was good for cooking in, with a large pine table, but we ate most evenings at The Anchor, about 150 yards from the house, which has a large, heated marquee, perfect for these Covid times, and good food. Other details: the cottage bathroom was clean and pleasant, with a good shower over the bath. The WiFi worked well and the TV included access to Netflix. This was a special holiday for us, our first time away for very many months. I would recommend 1 Millstones and Walberswick and the surrounding area to anyone. Who would need to go abroad?!

Troy is a lovely, spacious house in a delightful area. The downstairs rooms are very large and easily accommodate a large family group. It is very well-equipped and has a plethora of books and games to enjoy. The pool is a bonus: although not heated , it was enjoyed by young and old and there are inflatables and outdoor games as well. (And very smart outdoor furniture.) There is a convenient, small Co-op a few minutes walk away for basic provisions and good takeaway pizzas available from the village. Communication with the owners was straightforward and an issue with the pool was swiftly dealt with. The garden is not completely dog -proof so care needed when dogs loose in the garden. There are many lovely walks from the house, though some footpaths are rather overgrown in the summer. Walberswick is a delightful village and very popular. The walk to the beach is hazardous with small children due to the traffic so the car had to be used, but there is plenty of reasonably-priced parking at the end of the road. Though new to crabbing we became instantly hooked and quite successful, then delighted in watching them scuttle back to the water. Troy pleased all the family and made the holiday a most memorable occasion.

This cottage is in a lovely, quiet part of Walberswick, and it’s possible to walk to the beach. Good sized accommodation, which is all bright and modern. Lots of kitchen equipment should you want to cook. I would note: the bed in bedroom one is two singles zipped up, not a king size bed and the sofas in the living room are quite low, not that easy to get up from. There’s a lovely big shared garden. We also had use of the parking permit which was very handy. We’d recommend The Tea Shed in the village for breakfast and cakes; and The Bell Inn for a welcoming pub meal. It was our first visit to Walberswick and we’ll be back.

This is a fairytale cottage with a huge garden in a lovely village location. However, we found a number of problems on arrival which required immediate attention, eg shower lever missing to turn it on, badly leaking tap, chipped crockery, and many other issues. The owners left no contact details so we contacted Suffolk Secrets on four separate occasions. They advised us that they had notified the owners who were responsible for managing their own property. Two days after returning from holiday we have still had no contact. This property could be stunning but needs some money spending on it.
