What our customers say about their holidays

Immaculately maintained, tiny characterful property.
The Old Stable had everything we needed for a comfortable week away, although I would not think a longer stay would be practicable owing to the basic cooking facilities (a portable two ring electric hob and microwave) and just a tumble drier meaning handwashing lighter items of clothing, finding a laundrette or bringing lots of stuff. We appreciated the good quality tea, coffee bags and biscuits which are the hallmark of a thoughtful and welcoming host. Towels and tea towels are provided but bring your own beach towels. The bed on its little gallery is comfortable but we found moving the rolling steps to and fro in order to cook then wash up a bit of a faff, be aware they are quite heavy with steel handrails and glass panels. We knew about this arrangement, and it wouldn't put us off staying here again. No outside space of course, which we also knew about, but the quiet beach is adjacent and is one of our favourites on the Lizard. The Five Pilchards pub, which in the past has done good pub food, has closed down and is for sale but we had a great meal at the beach café next door. I know people rave about the Fat Apples café just up the lane but every time we went past we had just missed it being open. It shuts promptly at 5 pm. Our dog enjoyed staying here and we were glad she couldn't get up the steep steps and attempt to climb onto the bed to find us, which she sometimes does in an unfamiliar house. She had to stay in her own dog bed. She knew where we were and could see us so she was content. This was a definite plus for us.

2, Rock Cottages has been our home away from home for 3 years running now! My daughter (5 years old), husband and I just love coming to stay. Little Petherick is brilliantly situated for fantastic beaches, nearby towns such as Padstow and has lots of accessible attractions for all ages, whilst being nice and quiet at night for a good night's rest. The cottage is just perfect for children in infants, juniors and senior school. My haven is the bench out front that is the perfect place to enjoy sunsets and my daughter likes to have tea parties on the small lawn with her toys. The little courtyard out the back is a haven for my hubby to read or it could be for teenagers to have their own little space away from parents. The extra little room that leads to the bathroom is perfect for dressing and storing extra belongings that you might need and allows the bedrooms to be a true place to relax. I love that there are games to play and the wifi is excellent for multiple devices. It has all the amenities you need and a lot of little extra touches. This is such a wonderful place, we will be returning next year for the fourth time. We find new and exciting things to do, all within 15-40 mins of the cottage, every year.

The cottage was really lovely, in a great area, really cosy and it felt very homely to us. The terrace, although it only had a slight view of the sea, was lovely to sit at in the morning and was a real sun trap. The bedroom was cosy, and the kitchen was relatively well equipped. The showers were very small, but in such a small place it is the best available option. Unfortunately, despite general cleanliness, there were heaps of dog hairs around the whole cottage, especially in the bedroom. Although this was a slight annoyance to us, it would be far from ideal for somebody with an allergy. The cottage was very close to the harbour, with a maximum 5 minute walk to the furthest pub. Overall, we had a really lovely stay, and we would definitely return.

Luke's Barn is equipped with everything a family needs. Lovely, caring touches throughout the house. It's exceptionally clean (inside and outside) and we recommend to families as a peaceful holiday retreat. Close to Porthtowan and Portreath beaches. Don't be put off by owners living nextdoor, you will have privacy to relax, but they will help you with any queries if you ask them. Super hosts! Beautiful cats Flash and Dobby will keep visiting and keep all entertained- if the games room, hot tub, spacious garden, super sound system, board games and books aren't enough. We've had a lovely week (parents with children aged 13-20). Really pleased we booked Luke's Barn. Thanks Gary and Helen.

Smugglers Cottage is a fab comfortable little cottage, ideal for two people, very peaceful location but within easy walking distance of various places to eat out, and seconds from the beach. We would definitely stay there again, we also loved that we could take our dog. The service provided by Above Beach Cottages was excellent; booking the cottage on line was very easy and hassle free and the information provided was spot on, we will certainly use them again. Porthleven has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants and several are dog friendly which is a bonus. It's also on the coastal path and is ideal for walkers. We had a fab time even though the weather wasn't too kind to us!
