What our customers say about their holidays

We had a lovely break at Trerubbies and visited the cave the cottage is named after on Tregardock about 40 minutes walk away across fields, a raw to the elements tidal beach with steep steps down.
Trebarwith Strand is a 25 minute walk and the path is a little clogged up due to rain and the farmers using it as a cow path so take good walking boots. This is also a tidal beach suitable for dogs with the window for walking there around 4 or 5 hours at a changing time each day, keep an eye on incoming tides. The pub on the strand serves good food, above average prices but not ridiculous. The cafe is under new ownership and serves good coffee and cakes. We had several fine sunsets and were lucky with the weather for early May. The cottage/barn itself is tastefully furnished, a good conversion of maybe 12-15 years ago with fine views out of upper living floor windows, especially the front main room window. The garden above has excellent views across the fields below towards the sea. There are fields immediately around the cottage with a footpath. The access road is a country lane, it is slow and not for speeders and you cannot really hear the light passing traffic from the garden or house. We were there on the farm alone aside from the farmers ploughing (very late this year due to the heavy rains) and i would say this location suits those that like rural countryside and is not for those wanting easy access to shops and so on. You have to deal with cows on the walks and some farmers in Cornwall don't make access easy for hikers. The other barns were not let during our week and i am not sure how our stay would have been if they were all full in mid summer. The one negative, and these are small points but worthy of mention, there is a pile of builders stuff on the driveway under a blue tarp, it's an unsightly view from the raised porch table where we sat a lot. This area around the deck, table and the rail glass would benefit from TLC maintenance as would a few of the lose pavers around the garden. I would also have loved a recliner chair or two in the garden but i realise this is not a rental house proviso, it's just our car was overloaded and no room for easy recliners! Final point, with the dog kept upstairs which we agree with, it is almost impossible for us to manage their use of chairs. I would prefer to see washable rug covers on the large leather sofas just in case your dog jumps up. Benefits of Trerubbies, fine setting, a well considered barn conversion on a non-working farm, comfy beds, quiet, panoramic outlook, well located for walks to local tidal beaches, sea views. If the maintenance mentioned were carried out, we would have given 5 stars for our stay off season. --

Poor kitchen equipment for cooking, lack of decent glasses. No actual wine glasses they were plastic. The tumblers were chipped. No Sonos speakers as in description. So no personal music could be played. The entrance door to roof top was stiff and subsequently cut hand, the floor was filthy and slippery to the stairs of the rooftop. The karcher should have been put away. The welcome book was not easily found, the information on rubbish and recycling was not clear. Disappointing that no equipment was in the upstairs kitchen so has to split what little was available downstairs. The freezer in the utility room couldn’t open properly due to the toilet so it wasn’t very clean inside and the door sharp where it was broken previously where I’m imagine people were trying to put things in there. Finally the flooring by the sink in the downstairs kitchen is a trip hazard and numerous times there were accidents where the flooring had lifted. The tap in kitchen is broken. And also we had the plumber out to fix the bath tap as it had broken.

This is the third time we have stayed at the premises, the father in law booked the previous visits, and every time the place is spotless and well kept.
Minimal damage wear and tear over the years. The paintwork is still clean and fresh, as is the tilings and fixtures in the bathrooms. No mold or mildew or stained grout anywhere! Clean and crisp. The facilities are excellent. The host is lovely and helpful, Fresh eggs on site, lovely bits upon welcome( tea, coffee, sugar, cookies, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, scourers etc) , the kitchen is well stocked with enough cutlery and crockery and utensils for 8 people for a functionable holiday let property not a professionals chefs suite. People complaining about not having a colander or grater are being picky. The fridge freezer is a very decent size and the bonus of a washing machine helps! Great tv and WiFi. Depending on the proximity of where youâre sleeping, and how much of a deep sleeper you are, you may be woken by the cockerel in the morning. Take ear plugs if your a light delicate sleeper. The bedding and towels are clean and crisp. Overall excellent property in an excellent location and we will be returning in the future.

Lavender Lodge has had a wonderful renovation and the quality of the finish is clear to see.
We are a family of 4 adults and we found the lodge to be just about the right size, but feel the living spaces may have been a squeeze with more. The balcony would have made a lot of difference to us had the weather been better. We found Honicombe Holiday park to be very quiet and the facilities well maintained. We made use of the on site gym and restaurant which we enjoyed, but would recommend a delivery from the Red Panda restaurant in Callington. We had deliveries twice during our stay and the food was delicious and delivery on time. The property is well located with easy access and the local area offers lots to do. We would have given 5 stars however we did have a problem with WiFi not working throughout our stay and the water pressure in the showers can be mixed (although it is a rural location so we did expect it). Chris was our contact for any issues and he was very responsive when we first reported the WiFi issues. All in all a lovely stay.

After a 4 hour drive with two kiddies we were cold and tired.
It was so lovely to open the door into a warm, cosy cottage. The property is beautiful and has stunning views, particularly from the living room window, which overlooked the sea. The tea, coffee and scrumptious cookies were very much appreciated upon our arrival. The property is very well equipped and thought out. We have a dog who was not allowed downstairs, which was perfectly understandable. The bedrooms are downstairs and theyâre beautifully kept. Our dog was perfectly happy to stay upstairs in his basket. A stair-gate is provided so inquisitive pooches donât venture down. The cottage was in an excellent location for Tintagel town & castle (only 10 mins drive away), stunning beaches and Rough Tor, where we observed the most incredible starling murmurations we have ever seen! (Next to the sheep in the field). Thank you for an excellent holiday Trerubies!
