What our customers say about their holidays

What can we say about the Bickleigh?
First the bad stuff.......erm.... can't think of any. Now for the good stuff, where do we start? The owners are wonderful hosts, attentive and friendly but not at all intrusive and are willing to have a nice chat if you wish. The location is wonderful, on a hillside overlooking beautiful fields and trees, the owner's house is lower down the hill and can't be seen from the lodge so there is an uninterrupted view over the valley. It is so quiet and peaceful, we can see why they call it Ridgeview Retreat. If you want peace and quiet with stunning views this is the place to be. The lodge is amazing with everything you need, a good range of utensils, crockery, towels, even an emergency pack of toiletries. The TV (unlike in most places) has Amazon prime and Netflix and the WIFI works very well. You do need to allow a decent time for the hot tub to heat up (3 hours or so) and be attentive to keep the fire roaring until the tub is hot, after that make sure you let the fire die down or it may be too hot! I must mention the mushrooms, growing all round the lodge and in the field were masses of field mushrooms which we could pick and eat, quite delicious All in all, Ridgeview Retreats is a wonderful place with wonderful hosts and I recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful few days.

One of the best cottages in the UK we've had the pleasure to stay. Located perfectly for some countryside peace and quiet and a short drive away from lots of great walks in the Exmoor National Park. Wonderful views to the surrounding hillside while relaxing in the hot tub, regardless of the weather as it's covered. The owner was happy to stop and chat when we saw him and even gave us a little history of the farm. I would definitely recommend planning some local walks straight from the cottage, especially a beautiful circular taking in Huntsham and its lake. If you're a runner and like me you enjoy some runs while on hols then be prepared for the toughest first 400m you'll probably ever experience. The climb from the bottom of the hillside the cottage is based begins steep and then gets steeper. My lungs will testify to this :-)

Clear instructions on how to find it we were completely wowed with everything at The Bickleigh.
On arrival plenty of room for parking. Checking in was easy & stress free. The views were absolutely stunning at every angle. Inside the property it was squeaky clean & had everything we needed. Really modern with fabulous stylish decor. A wonderful welcome package & information on everything at hand. We are huge tea/coffee drinkers & were amazed at the selection left for us. Lovely pubs close by especially Fishermanâs Cott & Bickleigh Mill was a really beautiful place to stop & have drink or shop for gifts to take home. This all was situated in the most beautiful area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & wished weâd booked longer. We will definitely be back as soon as possible. Thank you Penny & partner our whole experience was exceptional.

We had a great stay.
Perfect location. Lovely hosts. Accommodation was nice and clean and the architecture was great. Loved the wood burner inside! Only comments I have for improvement are more space for clothes so maybe a chest of drawers or under bed storage. And unfortunately we couldnât get the hot tub hot enough in this weather and it was one of the main reasons we chose this particular accommodation so that was quite disheartening as didnât feel like we got the full experience but the owners have said if we decide to come back they will get it up and running for us. Maybe it would be a good idea to change to electric ones and put a little roof over it so it can be used in all weathers. We had a really lovely stay though so thank you! :)

Ideally located if you just want to recharge and to have peace and quite from the hustle and bustle of the city. Superb views across the valley from the cottage and the hot tub.You may get the odd interruption from birds and distant sheep and cattle, but generally its you, the view and the wind in the trees! There is also a bonus as you may see deer appear out of the near wood land. The only down side, is the drive up Cove Hill Road to the destination, as this road becomes very narrow, the width of a car and it like that for about 1.5 miles. Best way we found was to use the Bolham Road from Tiverton and then take the Old Tiverton Road towards Bampton, which takes you round the back of Knighthayes.
