What our customers say about their holidays

Alongside the South West Coastal Path with stunning views of Mountâs Bay and St Michaelâs Mount the Sea Shore Cottages have much to recommend them.
A row of modern bungalows built on the land once occupied by Marazion Station, we stayed in Sea Breeze, a one bedroom, one bathroom bungalow with a spacious open plan living area. The double bed was comfortable and the bedroom had ample drawer and hanging space. The bathroom had a shower over the bath which was a real bonus because my wife likes baths and I like showers. The living area was equipped with a tv, sofa, rickety table and four chairs and a kitchen area with plenty of cupboards and drawers. So far, so good, but nothing is ever perfect. Two hand and two bath towels were supplied, but there is nowhere to put them. There are two hooks on the back of the bathroom door but a couple of towel rails would have been most helpful. While there are plenty of cupboards and drawers in the kitchen area, they are mostly empty because the kitchen is minimally equipped. True there are sufficient knives and forks but the three knives for cutting were blunt. It was a nice surprise to find a coffee maker, but because we didnât know the make we were unable to bring the correct capsules. The kettle lid had broken at some time and had been glued down rather than being replaced. The microwave was the only piece of equipment with instructions. This was a real problem when we discovered the symbols on the oven had worn off so operation relied on guesswork. There was a similar problem with the tv. There were three remotes and a tv and a DVD player. We never discovered the purpose for the third remote. The only remote that seemed to control the tv had many of the symbols etc warn away which was another challenge. The plate of the iron provided was filthy and there were cobwebs hanging in the bungalow when we arrived. In addition, the whole bungalow could do with being decorated In all, much of the equipment in the bungalow needed replacing or upgrading. Cleaning equipment was stored in a green shed about 100 years away at the other end of the site. Other than sweeping brushes there was nothing in the bungalow. We made do with what was there. There should have been replacement bin bags under the sink but there was none, so we couldnât empty the bin. These bungalows are in an unique location with stunning views. There is so much to recommend our accommodation, but it is let down by being poorly equipped. How frustrating. What a shame!

Can't really say that "Pengullyn" had the wow factor, other reviewers have indicated this.
It does, however, have virtually everything you're likely to need for a week or two in Cornwall, except egg cups. The most important thing for us was that the property has its own parking space. Which in Cornwall is a Godsend, given that we once had our legitimately parked car wrecked by a Cornish bin lorry. We were a little disappointed to find that the shower, reported has broken in August, had not been repaired. Needless to say showering proved rather challenging as a result. By the way, where was our cream tea that other previous visitors to "Pengullyn" arrived to find? Lol. Thank you for the milk nevertheless. A little tip. If you want to go into town and want to avoid the treacherous traffic on Chywoone Hill then turn right outside the side door, go down the short hill, turn right at the bottom and go through the covered arch. Immediately turn left and keep going. This will take you to the Strand and into town. A far safer route believe me! All in all we had a nice stay at "Pengullyn", and it provided a sound base to explore a beautiful part of our beloved Cornwall. Kernow Bys Vyken!

We had a lovely break made more special by this super home.
We enjoyed the views over Mounts Bay and watching the working harbour at night. Great space for our family to relax in. It was nice to have all the comforts of home at hand especially when preparing meals. For a winter break we felt cosy due to the excellent heating. The bathroom was well appointed, lovely to shower and have the beautiful views. The location was excellent for walks out to Mousehole, Penzance and the beach. The decking area was fantastic for morning tea and coffee, we were spoilt by the unseasonably warm February weather, my only concern was how slippery it is, possibly could do with a jet wash. The garden was perfect for our needs, again possibly the paths could do with a clean as they got slippery when wet. All in all we loved it and will definitely be back, thank you for sharing your house with us.

This is a lovely cottage, with all of the home comforts to make our stay enjoyable.
There were 2 issues, one of which was within the control of the owner and the other not. Parking was an problem. Shortly after arrival, we found a parking space right outside the cottage. However the 1st time we went out in the car, we lost it and were never able to regain it. This meant for the rest of the week the car was left in restricted parking areas, but fortunately we did not get a ticket! The other issue was there were areas, in particular under the beds, where the cleaning left a little to be desired - it looked a little rushed. The bedding and soft furnishings were impeccable, but the general cleaning left us wondering how much attention had been given to the current pandemic. Having said that, we all very much enjoyed our stay at Mackerel Sky.

Location of property was outstanding, so close to the beach and walking distance to Marizion and Penzance.
Great value for money at this time of year but would be disappointed if I had spent £2000 for the week in the Summer months. The property needs a few upgrades. The key safe on the wall was really difficult to open, as were the patio doors which constitutes a fire risk and the cooker had no markings on the temperature and function panel, consequently we initially burnt food as we were unaware we had it on the grill setting. The bathroom is a little tired too. These small repairs/ upgrades could make a big difference to someone's future stay. Clean environment, bedding, towels and lots of unexpected facilities in the kitchen, including a slow cooker and coffee machine. A really cosy and warm stay.
