  Our stay at Little Pip was delightful.

  It is close to a lot of interesting places and yet in a very peaceful and quiet setting. It may be small but it had everything we needed with each area well maintained and thoughtfully set out to make the most of the space. Our hosts John and Heidi had left biscuits and a delicious apple juice as well as tea, coffee and milk to welcome us. We found the kitchen and dining area to be most adequately equipped for the two of us and we ate in most nights. The bed is very comfortable and also has a lovely view of the sea from the window as does the kitchen/living area. While the weather did not allow us to use the outside sitting area much, the seats were very comfortable and there is a lovely view from there too. The large powerful shower gives a spacious feel to the spotlessly clean and modern bathroom. John and Heidi are kind and friendly, they gave us privacy during our stay but were immediately there to help when we were leaving and had a problem with the car. We found some lovely walks with the aid of a guide book provided, found tea rooms in beautiful settings, went to the Minack and another open air event at the local Penlee Park.   Lovely flat in a great location that could be made even better with just a few small tweaks.

  The entrance way could do with better signage on the main doorway to enable renters to locate easier. Also better info given to Sykes and all booking portals. The dingy entrance stairway could do with a good pressure wash and a coat of paint to make it look more appealing. The flat itself. A welcome/information pack would be helpful. Where does the rubbish go etc. Dish drainer for the sink. Better crockery, most is chipped and may be because there’s no dish drainer, a selection of odd glasses that look as if they have come from the pub, not really what you expect on holiday. The shower. Oh gosh that was the main let down for us. Bathroom is lovely and modern but the shower is very temperamental, it either runs scolding hot ( very dangerous) or freezing cold without touching the temperature controls. Maybe it’s due to the water pressure as sometimes there was only a trickle coming from the taps? Overall the flat offers a clean and comfortable base in a great location to explore this part of Cornwall. Not sure if this flat comes with the advertised parking? There’s spaces to the side that seems to always be occupied by cars from neighbouring residents.

  It is exactly what we expected and wanted.

  The hut was smack bang in the middle of everything, we could do a trip to lands end and Boscastle, and the max journey would be 1 1/2 hr from the hut. We would go to st Ives every night as it only 10 mins drive away to sit by the beautiful harbour with an ice cream (rain or shine). I would say it has been the best holiday in a long time, the only con was the rain but we are in late September in Cornwall, so what do you expect. Nothing a couple of water proofs and an umbrella can’t handle. But even with the wind and cold nights, the shepards hut stayed lovely and warm and we had no need to light the log burner. The hut was all that 2 people needed for the week, I wouldn’t add anything else, it was perfect. With an added bonus of being able to park right next to the hut, we had no worries. The place was so calm and peaceful, it felt like you were in your own little home. The people that own the farm were lovely and kind, and gave us lots of suggestions on where to go. When we next come to Cornwall we would love to stay in little pip again and we will definitely recommend our family and friends.

  This was my first stay with Sykes cottages and it was not a good experience.

  The flat inside was fine and but l had to clean it as light switches etc and all touch points were sticky and finger marks from the last tenants. Not what l call a Covid clean which l deal with every day with my work. Bench outside paint all coming off and could not use it. Decking paint pealing and moss all over.the flat has neighbours on both sides and their outdoor are is an eyesore. Had to pay £60 to park in station car park as no free parking at rear of the building which it does say in the advert. Street at the rear to narrow and double yellow lines. Entrance to flat is the maindoor to second hand shop. Entrance and stairs dirty. Neighbours are hourendous. One side dog barking and arguing in early hours of morning which kept us awake. The other side playing music until 4 am twice during our stay no respect for people trying to sleep. What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into a bit of a nightmare. We left a day early as had enough of the noise. Would not recommend this property.

  We understood that Bell Cottage was situated within a Holiday Park and that the property was in a terrace, what was not made clear was that this cottage although privately owned was one of a considerable number of similar cottages.

  I doubt we would have made the booking had we realized this. There was no privacy to sit outside and the garden furniture needs replacing. We noted your advice to park thoughtfully - it was a shame other residents did not and on a number of occasions when returning after a meal out we had to park in the main car park. A big advantage was that the cottage was cool in the living room and the sofa was very comfortable and was throughout very clean. It was a nice touch to have flowers and the biscuits and fruit juice. We lost WiFi on the Thursday and the owners were really kind and helpful and arranged for an engineer to visit which we really appreciated. The downside for us was the location, parking and we felt the price was somewhat steep. However this was Cornwall following a pandemic and in the height of season but we do feel your description of the cottage is not truly reflective.
