  Sadly for the first time in over 30 years of staying in holiday cottages I am making a very negative response.

  The cottage was so unwelcoming, apart from the awful colour it was painted, the tiny garden had large refuse bin & a pathway that had never been swept & windows that looked like they had never been cleaned outside for months. First impressions! Inside I know that it's a listed building but it was so tired looking, the lounge needs a revamp of furniture, curtains & paint job. The kitchen area was fine and there was all we needed. The shower was good and well planned in the small space but it just felt so unloved. Also it's the first cottage we have been in that there wasn't a little welcome pack, which we have always thought a nice touch. We were very lucky with the weather but the back garden was so untidy and bare & not relaxing chairs to sit on, it really spoilt it for us. We actually felt so uncomfortable in it, probably made worse that the property next door was a historical custom house, beautifully kept that everyone stopped to admire it that we left a day early as we felt so uncomfortable in it. To make matters worse when I booked it whish was with a sister company of yours, I somehow ending making the booking for September 2025 by mistake, you couldn't understand how it could have happened because of the days the booking was made but you rearranged it & didn't charge for doing so but it still cost me an extra £80 more than it should have done. So it's a definite no return for us.

  A delightful little cottage in a lovely town.

  The cottage was perfect for the two of us along with our dog, in a fantastic location at the end of, but right on, the High Street. The living room is cosy and the kitchen is very well equipped. There is not much hanging space in the bedroom, but the chest of drawers was more than enough for us to store our clothes, and the bed was very comfy. The enclosed back garden was not only a delight for the dog, the patio table and chairs have been perfectly positioned to catch the sun most of the day and the summerhouse was a lovely spot for breakfast. The only comment is that the listing description and the info folder in the property both need updating slightly - the TV does not seem to have a built-in CD/DVD player, and the info folder suggests making use of a vacuum cleaner which we couldn't find. All in all, though, a fabulous stay in delightful cottage to which we would definitely consider returning.

  Beautiful property in an amazing tranquil location. The property has everything you could need and was like stepping back in time! The kids loved having an open fire every evening…. Very quirky, uneven floors everywhere but a lot of love and history in the building. Great walks on the doorstep…our goldies had an amazing time exploring and not far in the car to great beaches if you don’t want to walk along the river. Some fantastic local pubs within half hour walk as well! Super comfy beds and the owner was so lovely when the range in the kitchen stopped working (it did not affect our stay but I would have loved to have done more cooking on it!)

  We thought that the response from Suffolk Secrets to the broken shower in White Cottage was very good. The location of Spindrift was lovely, and the garden and its furniture perfect. The property was clean, well equipped and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was a bit poky, although well laid out in the limited space. The sitting rooms were also quite small. Overall, though, we had an enjoyable week. There is lots to do and see in the local area. The village pub is good - very welcoming with good food. For people with dogs there are lovely country walks within a short distance from the cottage.

  The cottage was lovely - in a nice, quiet and very pretty location with the river Deben at the bottom of the garden. It was great being able to park right outside the cottage on the gravel drive - it made unloading very easy! We chose this location because of the close proximity to the places we wanted to visit - we had brought our inflatable kayak with us and wanted to be close to several different rivers and this location was ideal for that.
