What our customers say about their holidays

An absolutely stunning find.
Placed close enough to the village center and supermarkets that its just a two minute walk away, but secluded enough that you're out the way of the noise. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and all precautions had been taken to make sure there was no cross contamination from the previous visitors. With dog friendly places, there's always a worry of the rooms smelling "Doggy" however, every single room was clean and fresh and no odors or dog hairs. The couch and bed were amazingly comfortable and the log burner was a brilliant addition Any kitchen utensil you can think of is provided as well as spotlessly clean cutlery, glasses, plates and cups as well as washing up liquid, hand cleaner and even biscuits, sweets and a fresh pint of milk left in the fridge. The only thing i would note is that the stairs are steep. not a problem for us, however, an older couple may have problems getting up and down. will definitely be booking this again.

The property was private and cozy even though it's on the site of a working family farm.
That was actually one of our favorite parts, it felt like we were part of the countryside/community for a couple days. And we loved saying hello to the dogs and alpacas/llamas. We visited on a chilly weekend, so definitely use the space heaters provided if you get cold easily. We only used the wood stove (on purpose) and though that heats the living area so well and was extremely cozy, it was a little chilly in the bedroom without the heater on. Again, we did that on purpose, but not all like that. Our hosts were lovely the couple times we saw them and they were super responsive to texts - for example when we needed more kindling or teabags. The surrounding countryside was gorgeous and the inn/restaurant just down the road (The Crossings Inn) was great and so close by. It's also in Hadrian's Wall country. We loved it.

Nice cottage in a good location for exploring Whalley and the Ribble Valley.
Comfortable bed and a great hot shower but felt a couple of things could do with improvement. The settee and some downstairs furnishings were past their best and stained so the cottage was not as clean and fresh as the pictures show. A few logs were left in the basket but not nearly enough for four nights in February. Luckily we brought some with us, along with other "essentials" after reading a previous review. The door lock was a bit tricky sometimes and we could have done with two keys as we could not lock the door if the other person went out. Despite staying in many places, our dog would not settle here for some reason. This meant walks during the night and why another key would have been handy. Obviously that is beyond the owners control but it was unusual and meant we returned home a day early.

Wow! What a fabulous place!
The accommodation was amazing, decorated to the highest of standards with all the luxuries you could possibly want! The local area is beautiful and quiet, we loved taking the cycle routes to Seascale for beach days and ice cream and to Gosforth for some yummy Italian food! Wast Water was incredible, one of my favourite days! The Ravenglass railway and Muncaster Castle are close by for and well worth a visit! At the end of busy days we came back to the cottage to relax in the hot tub and enjoy the fizz and other treats left by Geoff and Julie; fantastic hosts with great local knowledge and ideas about how you can spend your holiday! Weâd waited so long for this holiday and it was definitely worth the wait! I donât think Iâve ever felt so relaxed and refreshed! We cannot wait to come back! Xxxx

Julie and Geoff Nugent were very helpful and ensured we were happy with everything on our arrival on during our stay.
They were both very informative of what was around the area to do and visit. Geoff took us around the luxury retreat on arrival, explaining everything we needed to know. The situation of the retreat is very peaceful, beautifully kept and the village itself was ideal for walks and for a visit to the Royal Oak pub for lunch/drinks is highly recommended. The hot tub was a lovely bonus which was checked on a daily basis. The nice touches of the prosecco, biscuits and home made scones was really appreciated and the scones were delicious. I would definitely recommend the retreat to anyone as it is definitely a luxury escape from real life!
