  Review of Tidal Reach Holiday Stay Our stay at Tidal Reach was unfortunately marred by several issues that significantly impacted our holiday experience.

  Arrival and Parking: Upon arrival, we were greeted by scaffolding at the front of the property. This not only limited the parking space but also made it impossible for me to exit my car using the driver’s door due to the shared driveway with another holiday flat. As a result, I had to park off-road, which was quite inconvenient. It would have been greatly appreciated if we had been notified about the scaffolding in advance. Accommodation Issues: The bedroom floor was quite slippery, making it uncomfortable to walk barefoot or even with socks on. Additionally, the bed was extremely firm, causing both my wife and me to suffer from backaches throughout our stay. This was a major downside as it affected our overall comfort and rest. Dining and Kitchen Facilities: Although the flat was advertised as suitable for four people, there were only three dining chairs available. Thankfully, there were only two of us, but this would have been problematic for a larger group. The kitchen, while well-stocked (over-stocked) with utensils (including eight saucepans, three slicers, two whisks, and three strainers), lacked essential storage space for fresh food and tins. As a self-catering flat, it was surprising to find no storage cupboards or even a breadbin, which made meal preparation and storage quite challenging. Information and Amenities: There was a noticeable lack of information regarding local services such as emergency doctors and dentists, etc. which would have been helpful. Additionally, there were no instructions on how to use the oven. As we are accustomed to a gas cooker at home, we struggled to figure out how to operate the electric oven provided. Guest Interaction: Normally, guests are greeted either upon arrival or within a couple of days to ensure everything is satisfactory. This was not the case during our stay. The only time we met the owner was on the Friday evening of our stay, when he knocked on the door to inform us that the cleaner would be coming in the next day. He did not introduce himself or inquire about our holiday experience. This lack of friendliness and engagement was disappointing. I would suggest the owner take some lessons from the Hotel Inspector on how to be more welcoming and attentive to guests. In summary, while Tidal Reach has potential, several aspects need improvement to enhance the overall guest experience. Better communication, more comfortable bedding, adequate dining seating, proper kitchen storage, and comprehensive information about local services and amenities would make a significant difference.

  Firstly we had a lovely holiday and particularly enjoyed the zoo, steam train and Brixham.

  The property is close to the beach, park, pubs and arcades, personally the area was loud and very busy, I much preferred Goodrington. As for the property it's self, it done the job for a base. It was missing some home comforts, the mattresses were very thin, only one pillow each, sofa has lost its structure and you tend to slide off it. There were 3 old dried up gel air fresheners dotted around, these would have been better in the bin or even better still replaced. I can't say it was dirty but more attention to detail could have been done, there was sand in the draws, dead bugs on the window sill and dust behind mirror and tv. We did appreciate the milk and cake on arrival. My children loved the pool and it was nice and warm. The building the property is located in, shows some well kept properties and some very unkept ones, there are strange smells throughout the building. On our last day a resident had left two bags of rubbish out and glass bottles of vodka, the seagulls had a field day and the rubbish was spread all over the grounds by the entrance door, it was truly disgusting. Overall our holiday was good, the property was ok but I wouldn't return

  The property in general was fantastic.

  Had everything we needed and a great amount of space, with a perfect location. The only downsides were 2 things: seeing the scaffolding when we arrived & seeing straight through to the other apartments kitchen. We surprised seeing the scaffolding and perhaps we would have expected to be given notice it was there. It didn't affect us overall, I just had to remember to duck. One of the reasons we booked here was the garden but perhaps we didn't appreciate the layout with the other holiday property. It was how their kitchen looked directly to the garden quite noticeable after sunset. Garden was lovely though. We also booked this property as it stated no pets as at a previous holiday property there was waste left in the garden. We hope this remains the case as it was great space.

  1. A fridge with a freezer compartment would be advantageous.

  2. A second set of keys would be advantageous. 3. The swipe card for the car park area only worked intermittently. 4. It was a shame that maintenance work was taking place on the upper floor during our stay. It prevented us from being to relax during the day. 5. We were unable to park our car in the allotted space as there was another vehicle parked there for most of the week. 6. The panel beneath the cooker needs securing as it wouldn’t stay in place. 7. The microwave oven either needs to be repositioned or a separate socket needs to be fitted so that the power cable doesn’t have to be laid over the rear of the hob.

  The apartment we booked was satisfactory for us as a party of 3 adults, with all mod cons.

  Well equipped, clean and beds extremely comfortable. Rails inadequate to hang many clothes on and only one set of small drawers in main bedroom, just bedside cabinets in second bedroom. We feel flat overall would be quite small for 4/5 adults. Although the description is described as first floor, the picture appears to show a two storey building when in fact it is three, and we were surprised to find ourselves having to climb a steep staircase to access the flat. We therefore feel it is unsuitable for anyone with mobility problems. The car park is quite steep and could do with more lighting at night.
