Great Yarmouth Holiday Cottages

Great Yarmouth is perched on the stunning west coast of Norfolk. The town is a traditional Victorian seaside resort with a sandy beach, piers, museums, and an aquarium. If you're looking for a last-minute family beach holiday or a walking holiday on The Broads, Great Yarmouth is the perfect last-minute holiday for you and your family.

Reasons to Holiday in Great Yarmouth

Beaches

The beach at Great Yarmouth is made up of many different beaches. The most popular beaches are Pier Beach, Great Yarmouth Beach and South Beach. The beaches are made of fine sand, which is fantastic for bucket and spade days out. The beaches near Britannia Pier or Wellington Pier are well equipped with facilities and entertainment, like fun fairs, adventure golf, bowling and the amazing Sea Life Aquarium. If you want a traditional beach holiday with loads to do with the kids, a last-minute booking in Great Yarmouth is a fabulous choice for you and your family. You will always get the best deals when booking with Last Minute Cottages, thanks to our best price guarantee. And you can benefit more by becoming a member and saving with member discounts.

Walking

Just outside Great Yarmouth lies The Broads National Park. Filled with rare wildlife ranging from dragonflies to birds, it is a beautiful place to walk for anyone who enjoys nature or just exploring the countryside. For keen walkers, a fantastic circular walk begins just ten minutes' drive from the beach. The walk starts at Burgh Castle and takes you on an 8.5-mile route exploring The Broads, showcasing fantastic views and wildlife. For a more family-friendly walk, try the Repps Riverside trail. This 2.5-mile route takes you through villages along the river Thurne. There is much to see along the way, and it's a more leisurely walk for children. Great Yarmouth is a welcoming base camp to return to after a hard day's walking. Refuel at a delicious restaurant and return to your cottage for a well-earned rest. You could even rent a cottage with a hot tub, so you're ready to go for the next day's adventures.

Where to Stay in Great Yarmouth

The beachfront is the place to stay in Great Yarmouth. Most of the restaurants, bars and attractions for the kids, like Joyland, are near Britannia Pier. However, more museums and the Sea Life Aquarium are further south near Wellington Pier. But if you would prefer a quieter holiday or enjoy more walking, there are cottages on the outskirts of Great Yarmouth near The Broads National Park. Wherever you stay in Great Yarmouth, your cottage will be professionally managed, and our market-leading customer service team will be on hand to help.

Where to Visit Near Great Yarmouth

Wells-next-the-Sea is a quaint tourist harbour with an excellent beach nearby.

Cromer is a small coastal town with a pier and a brilliant stretch of beach.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Robin - Verified booking

From the pictures we saw when booking it was clear that Waveney View offered everything we were looking for and we certainly were not disappointed.

On arrival it even managed to exceed our expectations, and how aptly the cottage was named! Inside the living and kitchen areas were the perfect combination of comfort and functionality, plenty of light and space, and the front bedrooms were equally comfortable and shared the same amazing view, whilst the Bathroom was light and bright and had a really good shower! The description “ fully equipped” was totally accurate! Outside we enjoyed a large patio area immediately infront of the Cottage, reserved for our personal use, and the views of and sounds from the numerous varieties of birdlife in their environment, as well as the interest created by the passing river traffic - an ever changing vista! The highlight was of course the view, glorious sunrises and sunsets, of course not every day but even on less sunny days it was amazing how the sun managed to put in an appearance at some time. The location of Waveney View was ideal, a few minutes walk to access the Angles Way, a riverside path running along the bank immediately in front of the cottage, in both directions, and easy access to a network of footpaths locally and those leading to and around the Roman Fort at Burgh Castle. So why do we give this property such a high rating? The Three Ps : Privacy, Position & Possibilities! Located at the end of a lane with private access, conveniently positioned to access local facilities by car - local supermarket 10 minutes, the extensive Beach at Gorlesto-on-sea 15 minutes, and finally numerous possibilities of easy access to Norfolk and Suffolk’s coastal attractions : Cromer to the North and Southwold to the South around an hour’s easy drive, and all that lies in between! The property was spotlessly clean and the owners, Lorraine & Paul, who live in the main house, provided useful information on local places of interest and were fully respectful of our privacy and yet easy to approach as and when required. Out thanks to them for the holiday opportunity that we very much enjoyed. Dont’t forget your Camera!

My wife and I stayed here with our Labrador Retriever, so we were looking forward to having somewhere quiet, clean, dog-friendly, and well-equipped - and we were definitely not disappointed!

The accommodation is very quiet, spotlessly clean and has a wonderfully well-equipped kitchen, enabling us to bring a food box with us to cook when we didn't want to go out to the nearby pub (which does surprisingly good food). There's also another pub along the river which is a great place to end up after a half hour wander around the Burgh Castle fields (great for dogs!). It was great to have access to the large grass lawn area directly outside the door for our dog to go and spend while on a long lead, with tranquil views across the river to the nearby wind pumps. The outdoor table and chairs were ideal for enjoying a glass of wine in the Autumn sun. There's plenty of parking too. The owners were helpful and responsive via text message for questions but weren't intrusive and respected our privacy. If you're visiting, check the what3words location as this was wrong. To get to Church Farm, go literally right to the very end of the road, and at the turning circle by the church, turn right and follow the road around to the gates. Don't try and look for bungalows and things on the way, just go straight up to the end. I've informed Sykes of the correct w3w location, so it might be correct now. Just a couple of suggestions (but not criticisms!): - a few pictures in the bedrooms would make them a bit more cheerful as they're well furnished but missing some welcoming touches - maybe some canvas prints of the beautiful Broads? As the third bedroom doesn't have a window, it would definitely benefit from some colour. - the wifi doesn't extend beyond the main room, so you can't stream or go on the internet in the bedrooms. I'd recommend a Powerline Wifi Extender (about £40 from Argos) to create a reliable new wifi hotspot in the accommodation itself. All in all we really enjoyed our holiday here and we're happy to recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful, well-equipped and dog-friendly place to relax.

We recently stayed for one week.

We were 7 adults, 2 children and 4 dogs. We found Beach House ideal, the gardens were secure for both dogs and children, and all facilities were clean and in good order. The icing on the cake were the dunes leading to the beach which you can access from the rear garden, which was ideal for dog walking. If you’re really lucky you may even see seals swimming just off the beach! I will really miss my daily walks here. The host has provided a very comprehensive book of information about the house and surrounding area, including takeaway leaflets etc. The Fisherman’s Return pub is just up the road, with lovely pub grub. There is a local convenience store, a post office and cafe also just up the road. Our host Jane went the extra mile when I phoned her an hour before our arrival to say we’d forgotten to bring our travel cot. Within the hour she had sourced, delivered and erected a travel cot for us, saving us the trouble of having to buy one on our way! I can’t thank her enough for that. We took lots of throws for the lounge furniture in case any of our mutts chose to jump on them. If I had any criticism at all it would be the pillows; they weren’t awful, just a bit puffy for us, but I understand why they might be better for a rental property. Recommended places to visit: Wroxham Barns, The Broads (we went to Acle), Hemsley (if you like amusement arcades), Norwich City, Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.

Waveney View Cottage is an absolutely fantastic place to stay for a holiday.

Paul and Lorraine (the owners) are so helpful and lovely to chat with if you get the chance. The bungalow is comfortable, spacious and has everything we needed. I particularly appreciated the connecting door between the living and sleeping area so we could still watch TV while my daughters were in bed. I also loved the big TV! My daughters loved playing on the play equipment at the bottom of the owner's garden. As already stated in numerous reviews the view is incredible as are the sunsets. We loved the pathways beside the river starting just outside the cottage and often walked up to the Roman ruins. Also being in the grounds of the main house and with the electric gate at the entrance gave me a real feeling of security while being there. There is lots to do nearby and as the weather was good we spent every day at the beach. The best beach we found is at Winterton on Sea where the sand is not too stony, there are good loos and you can watch the seals in the sea. To see lots of seals including on the beach we went to Horsey. Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend Wavaney View Cottage as a superb place to stay for a holiday.

    Lovely cottage and gardens .

Just a couple of negative things for us. 1. Not having the channels on the T.V , we found having to download the app for each channel was very inconvenient and No.2 the shower was in a very strange position, like right in the corner which made us feel that we could not shower properly and the shower curtain was very annoying but this is personal to us as we are used to a glass screen . Oh and no tea towel for the kitchen, ee did not bring one as it said towels were supplied. And not having control with the heating. It was very cold a few nights we was there , my husband tried to go by the instructions in the book to boost the heating but to no avail . The cottage is in a ideal position for using as a base to go off to other coastal areas I.e Caister, Cromer, Yarmouth. All in all we had a good holiday .
