Lesley gave us a warm welcome despite the late hour...a log fire burning, a generous welcome basket and a friendly face after a rather fraught drive over the Pennines. The lodge was spotless, spacious, comfortable and full of light. The king size bed was REALLY comfortable...we opened the French doors onto the little private patio and let the breeze in. It was absolute bliss. I could have stayed put for the whole time but my companion wanted to have a potter to Malton, Pickering, Filey. We had an excellent lunch at the Blacksmiths Arms in the village and visited the lovely Ryedale Vineyards. A special few days in a super holiday cottage in a gorgeous part of the UK. We'll be back!

On arrival at the property we discovered the property hadnât been serviced which was alarming at 3:30pm but a phone call to the owner resolved this by 18:30 which was ok as pub next door!
The emergency clean was to a very high standard and after that was a comfortable stay! The only negative from us personally we live in the middle of nowhere and this property was on the main road which was extremely busy during our stay and obviously very noisy for us! There is a shared access to access the garden so the dog couldnât be let out directly into the garden but no drama! I wouldnât return to Duckyâs on a personal note but if youâre used to town and city noise Iâm sure this wouldnât bother you! Fantastic place Pickering for pubs etc and Dalby Forest and the Hole of Horcum fabulous dog walks! This isnât a negative review but my own personal view!

We loved staying at Duckyâs!
It was very relaxing. We had everything we needed and appreciated all the homely extras. The garden with apple trees was great for sitting in. We managed to squeeze two cars onto the parking area with a bit of careful manoeuvring. The cottage is very small but plenty big enough for the two of us (sisters). Thereâs nothing much to improve- the baby/dog gate was really useful for containing dogs in the kitchen but it was awkward to use, fresh milk instead of longlife? Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage with us.

Lovely location. However, whilst the property was largely ok, there were a number of small issues. Broken toilet seat that took 48 hours to be looked at (but wasn't repairable). Drawer handles missing in the kitchen and the bedroom. Some of the under cupboard lights in the kitchen were not working. The internet connection was liable to drop out at any moment. One of the dining chairs was rickety. None of these alone were huge issues, but overall showed the property needed a little more TLC.
