What our customers say about their holidays

Itâs a great house and we enjoyed our stay however the Lock on front door needs changing.
Very difficult to open and one of the party got locked out whilst going to bin. Luckily someone was in house to let them back in. Out of 4 people staying in the house only one person could navigate the lock. No fire wood on arrival and house very cold on arrival. Phoned agents looking after property who said donât provide wood. Sykes contacted owner who said itâs not provided and that the listing is wrong. Iâve never stayed in a property yet where some wood is not provided when a log burner is advertised in the property. Had to locate where we could buy wood and drove to get some. Not such a relaxing start to holiday. Radiator in lounge needs bleeding. Lots of crockery and a lot chipped but no egg cups. Had to improvise and use egg box that the eggs came in to hold the boiled eggs. Pepper pot but no salt pot. Radiator in upstairs bathroom too close to toilet so burned your legs when using toilet. Had to cover it with a towel. Concur with previous reviews could do with a bigger fridge and freezer. Would have struggled if we had a longer stay to store fridge food . Not owners fault but next door looks like a builders yard and should be brought to the attention of anyone staying there.

A lovely house with stunning views and lots of little touches to make our stay more comfortable.
Loved the jams and biscuits, plus well stocked with things like olive oil and washing up liquid. The top floor shower shouldnât be used if any other water is turned on in the house - like the washing machine or dish washer as the temperature fluctuates enormously. The bunk bed was broken when we arrived meaning we couldnât use it but that was fine as we were a four rather than a six but put a call into Skyeâs and they said it would be fixed for the next customers. It took a while to find out who to contact as some pages of the welcome pack were out of date. We had one really windy night with a lot of banging and wasnât sure whether there were some tiles loose at the seaward side or whether this was something do to with the renovations on the adjoining property, but they do provide ear plugs! Itâs in a fantastic location and we sampled the Bosens Locker, the Conacle and the pub on Piel. It was a great base for visiting family locally and, of course, near to Royâs Icecreams on the coast road! We also discovered the drive through Icecream Cumbrian Cow and the Milk Shed where you can get fresh local milk and milkshakes on tap!

A lovely clean, spacious cottage.
A loo on every floor and a long garden with lovely views across the water. A fridge freezer would be a welcome addition or a larger fridge, we did struggle to fit everything in. A few of the bowls were chipped, but as there was plenty of crockery, it wasn't an issue. My main disappointment was that we were given no warning that the adjoining property is undergoing extensive renovation work. We were lucky to have sunshine, but it was difficult to relax in garden, whilst listening to hammering, sawing and drilling. I emailed Sykes while we were there to ask whether they were aware of this, I received no reply. I emailed again when home and again have received no reply. Up until now I have been happy with Sykes, however now I am unsure.

Great house for us to use as we were visiting family in Barrow-in-Furness.
Value for money was good, decor is nice, and the space was perfect for the 5 of us. Downsides are that the house âentranceâ doesnât look very inviting. Duvets (not covers) revealed to be quite stained, some items within the house are looking a little tired and either need fixing or replacing, showers were not very powerful and the towels were very smallâ¦perfect for the children. Overall we have had a good stay and would look to hire this house again as the location is perfect for us. Thank you

The cottage was lovely, well equipped and maintained.
The ground and first floor were warm and cosy but the top floor bedroom was not warm enough as the radiators only got warm, not hot like the rest of the house. It was very cold there through the night and I didn't sleep well. I'm sorry to say that the beds were not very comfortable, particularly the bunk beds. Even though this may seem like negative feedback, we had a lovely New Year celebration with our family but I don't think we would stay there again.
