  So disappointed:( This is our second visit to Bowline Cottage as it’s in such a fantastic location and a lovely bright and airy house.

  However the owners of this property really need to address some basic issues that a customer is looking for when spending a substantial amount of money for a week’s stay, and by reading all the past reviews I don’t think they are bothered as long as it’s making money. The mattresses in the back bedroom are not fit for purpose unless your a child, you may as well be sleeping on the floor, they were bad enough last year but even worse now, they’ve completely collapsed. So much so we got a next day delivery from Amazon for a camping mattress to put on the base!! Secondly get a new cleaning crew, or get them told !!! I'm far from being a clean freak but do expect a decent level of cleanliness when going away. It looked like everything had just been given a quick wipe, not cleaned, with the same cloth. We put to one side some of the soft furnishing cushions as they were caked in dust and sunscreen? I presume, but not entirely sure! I was undecided if the floors had even been mopped. Freezer was filthy sorry I left it, but the most off putting was the amount of dirty dried on food cutlery in the draw, I know that’s not up to the cleaner but should at least be checked. The table hadn’t even been wiped as crumbs all over it and dried in food on the placemats! The hoover had been left out to charge, fair enough but it could at least be emptied. Unfortunately I’m saving the best until last, in the bathroom there was enough body hair around the toilet and under the non slip mat in the bath to knit a jumper!! All the glass bottles with the little extras like bubble bath hand wash etc were virtually empty and the bottles themselves were dirty/dusty. The saving grace was the bed linen and towels were clean. Not that we watch much tv but Prime as advertised is no longer available and as so many people say the outside door only opens half way so can be a struggle at times. It’s such a shame about the above and so easily rectified and it wouldn’t cost a fortune either !! . Also found it interesting that there was no longer a visitors book to comment in, it seems to have disappeared !

  Nothing but positive to feedback.

  The house is lovely. We were 6 adults and 4 kids ranging from 11 to 16 and all had a fantastic time. Plus a dog! The house is so well appointed, comfortable and spacious. The kitchen has everything you need to cook at home. While we weren't able to take advantage of the outside seating areas during our stay as the weather wasn't good enough, they looked lovely and would tempt us back for a 'summer' holiday. The location is great on the edge of the village but accessible for the beach, and great walks in both directions on the beach to Newton and up to Seahouses. We had the most minor glitch when we arrived in that the two truckles weren't made up as the booking had been miscounted. The owner was there within 10 minutes and added to an already very generous welcome package :) Back to my original comment, we couldn't fault a thing and hope we'll be able to stay again sometime in the future.   Amazing property.

  10/10. The owners have put a lot of effort and thought into the property's finish right down to the coasters. It's very unique and with no cheap tack around. The bedrooms have a great finish and also showers. The kitchen is smartly finished with granite tops and a spare fridge for all the extras. The large drying room/laundry area was a dream, particularly with the many kids and guests staying. Huge kitchen table to take everyone for dinner. Comfy sofa in the evening to put your feet up in front of the log fire. Great location with a short walk (2 mins) to a pub and a couple of restaurants with great food. There is a park for kids nearby, and the beach is within walking distance. We didn't use our car once until we left. I have already booked here again.

  Just returned from a fantastic stay in Coastal Plaice at Beadnell.

  Location is great - 5 minute walk to The Craster Arms which has a lovely garden, decent food and dog friendly! The coast/ beach is 5 minute walk, with the beautiful "proper" beach of Beadnell bay a 15 minute walk from the house. We had some delicious food at The Landing. Beadnell is in a good location to access the area - we walked to Seahouses and Low Newton along the beach and coastal path, Bamburgh and Embleton are 10 minute drive, and Alnmouth, Alnwick, Amble/ Warkworth about 30 minutes drive. The house has an allocated parking space, lovely garden and was spotlessly clean! Kitchen facilities great including microwave, dishwasher and washing machine should you need it. We really enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

  This is a nice property in a beautiful setting and it met the requirements for our family holiday.

  The accommodation was comfortable and well appointed. However, it does feel like it is lacking in some TLC. There were multiple weeds growing through the artificial grass, the top drawer in the bedside cabinet of the twin room was full of rubbish, the plinth near the kettle has never been repaired. If we’d have paid half the price, we might not have worried, but it felt like a premium price, for a not so premium product. We were without hot water for 36 hours, however, when the repair man arrived he was amazing. Knew exactly what the problem was and fixed it very quickly and efficiently. Overall, it was a lovely stay, but I think it needs to be given a bit more love if the owners carry on charging these prices.
