  The plus points first. Harbour Hideaway is in a fantastic location in Seahouses. Very handy for all the lovely local amenities. The convenient parking space is right outside the property. The decor is modern and the layout well thought out. For the size it is well equipped, the combined microwave is a larger model. We found the sofa bed to be comfortable and easy to convert from sofa to a bed. The views from the property are beautiful, with lovely walks along the coast. However, Harbour Hideaway is very small, once the sofa bed is made up, you can only just walk around it. The main space, not including the front door recess is app 2.3 metres, (less 40cm for the kitchen run, approx 1.9 metres) by 3.2 metres approx. There is a small recess for the front door. We found damp and high levels of humidity to be a problem and have provided the owner with photos. Thankfully we had lovely weather because it would be difficult drying wet coats, shoes and walking coats in such a confined space. There is very little storage space and we had to leave rucksacks, walking shoes and jackets in the car. All bedding and towels are provided but there were only two pillows, for two people. There is not room in the sofa bed storage for all the bedding, we had to leave a pillow out during the day. We stayed for five nights and found it a little challenging because of the lack of space and lack of storage.

  We had a lovely & much needed week’s break in the stunningly appointed Brindles Manse.

  The property is finished to an extremely high standard yet still maintains a warm, cosy country feel. Despite the current Covid-19 restrictions, we felt extremely safe due to the extra precautions put in place (late check in/early check out, anti-bac hand wash throughout & NHS Track Trace on door). There were some VERY MINOR things we noted but these did not detract from our stay. • Kitchen knives very blunt & there is no steel. • Laundry instructions, for end of you stay, are somewhat confusing. In places it says leave everything in bathroom but elsewhere advises, due to Covid, please put everything in sealed bag provided (1 bin bag only). • A very kind neighbour removes the dustbin the evening before collection & returns it. Interestingly however, bins are placed ‘on the corner as you turn into Brindles Manse’ not ‘on the drive’ eg: where you park your car. • As another guest review had mentioned, we would’ve preferred the kitchen TV in the living room. However, we couldn’t tune in the Smart TV to the wifi (log into Netflix etc) so left it in situ. We had a lovely stay. The beds were extremely comfortable & the shower is amazing! Could hold a dance in the kitchen it’s so big yet it still maintains a warm cosy feel. If you prefer more than Freeview TV, bring a Firestick or a good book! You couldn’t ask for more in a stunning part of the country.

  A great property in a super location.

  It had been finished to a high spec with a lot of thought. Considering the current situation with Covid we had expected less so were pleasantly surprised. All feedback is minor as we had a lovely stay and have recommended the property to friends. We would have liked a visitors book to add thanks and comments for the owners. The tv with dvd facilities was in the kitchen rather than the lounge which they may want to rethink / swap. We still played our films so was fine just comfier to sit in the lounge of a evening. The bed in the double room felt small we weren’t sure if it was a three quarter rather than a double. With a 6 foot 4 husband it felt a bit cramped but we managed. Overall just being out of our house in another place after months of lockdown and working from home was wonderful. The beach nearby was gorgeous and we enjoyed walking into Seahouses most days too.   We spent a wonderful two weeks in Puffin Cottage, it proved just right for us all. The location is fabulous, the option of walking in Seahouses or the beach at St Aidan’s bay for magnificent sunsets towards Bamburgh Castle, fun in the sea and on the sand, boat trips and food shopping. We love this region of the country and enjoyed returning to our favourite places and discovering new ones. Some recommendations would be Ford and Etal Castles (Castles, miniature train trips, cafes, Lady Waterford Hall with its pre Raphaelite walls, mill and the craft shops). We also enjoyed the local walk to the harbour, south to the caravan park which was a pleasant stroll. Bertram’s in Warkworth for food/coffee, the castle, river and beach all all lovely. A favourite of ours is Embleton Bay with views of Dunstanburgh from the North.

  We arrived to a lovely welcome hamper and there was even items for our dog, which was a thoughtful touch. It is a lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. After busy active days in the glorious weather the mega TV was a bonus for watching films together. It was helpful to have a well enclosed garden to keep our dog nice a safe. We enjoyed the coastal walks to Craster/ Dunstanburgh Castle. Holy Island and also to Beadnell and Bamburgh. The Billy Shiel boat trip was rewarding, although there was no Puffins at this time of year, but there was lots of seals and many breeds of birds. We recommend The Spice House Indian Restaurant as well as the cafes in Seahouses. The Smoke House on South street is a hidden gem with delicious seafood and fish. Thank you for giving us a good base for a lovely holiday.
