What our customers say about their holidays

So disappointed:( This is our second visit to Bowline Cottage as itâs in such a fantastic location and a lovely bright and airy house.
However the owners of this property really need to address some basic issues that a customer is looking for when spending a substantial amount of money for a weekâs stay, and by reading all the past reviews I donât think they are bothered as long as itâs making money. The mattresses in the back bedroom are not fit for purpose unless your a child, you may as well be sleeping on the floor, they were bad enough last year but even worse now, theyâve completely collapsed. So much so we got a next day delivery from Amazon for a camping mattress to put on the base!! Secondly get a new cleaning crew, or get them told !!! I'm far from being a clean freak but do expect a decent level of cleanliness when going away. It looked like everything had just been given a quick wipe, not cleaned, with the same cloth. We put to one side some of the soft furnishing cushions as they were caked in dust and sunscreen? I presume, but not entirely sure! I was undecided if the floors had even been mopped. Freezer was filthy sorry I left it, but the most off putting was the amount of dirty dried on food cutlery in the draw, I know thatâs not up to the cleaner but should at least be checked. The table hadnât even been wiped as crumbs all over it and dried in food on the placemats! The hoover had been left out to charge, fair enough but it could at least be emptied. Unfortunately Iâm saving the best until last, in the bathroom there was enough body hair around the toilet and under the non slip mat in the bath to knit a jumper!! All the glass bottles with the little extras like bubble bath hand wash etc were virtually empty and the bottles themselves were dirty/dusty. The saving grace was the bed linen and towels were clean. Not that we watch much tv but Prime as advertised is no longer available and as so many people say the outside door only opens half way so can be a struggle at times. Itâs such a shame about the above and so easily rectified and it wouldnât cost a fortune either !! . Also found it interesting that there was no longer a visitors book to comment in, it seems to have disappeared !

This was our 2nd stay at Bowline and it didnât disappoint.
We had a lovely time. Itâs warm, well equipped, nicely laid out and very convenient for beach access and The Landings cafe. We love staying there and can just about afford it at the winter rates. Plus itâs dog friendly which is great. Iâm sure weâll stay again. The only reason Iâve not given 100% positives is that there were a few things not perfect: the single mattresses/ziplock king are really uncomfortable, and the under sheets were filthy. The mattresses were uncomfortable last year so I was disappointed to find they had not been upgraded. You can feel the springs through them now and the edges have been completely broken down. Both my partner and I came back with stiff necks and sore backs from not sleeping well. It would benefit from a topper when not being used as singles. We chose this room to use as itâs at the back so darker/quieter. The coffee jug was broken and leaked all over the first time we used it, so we had to go and buy another one for ourselves, a small thing and someone just cleaning would not have spotted it, but annoying; The floor around/under the beds was not clean. Iâm not usually picky but there was a sandy grittiness to the floor which was unpleasant. The dirt was visible under the sofa, which can be hoovered under without moving. Even my husband noticed this (when looking for lost dog chews!) and heâs the extreme opposite of picky. Maybe an end of busy summer season spring clean was needed. Having said all that, the general cleanliness was great, the kitchen/bathroom all tidy and everything we needed, and we really love being able to stack up the stove and hunker down in the late afternoon after a cold beach walk.

The positives are that the property is well located as it is a short drive to local beaches.
The beds are comfortable and towels are provided. There is a nice view over farmland and parking is close and easy. The kitchen is well equipped and there is both a dishwasher and washing machine. We were concerned about the cleanliness. After 5 minutes in the property we were all covered in dog hair. There were large clumps on the carpets which hadn't been vacuumed. I cleaned this myself and filled the vacuum with dog hair. The attachment to the shower was also missing which made it difficult to shower young children and also clean the shower after use. There was a bit of a smell which we noticed on entering the property but not sure what was causing it. Make sure you bring basic supplies such as hand wash, toilet roll and salt. A few dish washer tablets were left which was thoughtful and they also left tea towels. The guest book had lots of useful information.

Dunrovin is a lovely little cottage just a few miles from Seahouses.
We had an amazing time here. It was so relaxing and peaceful. The terrace was perfect for the dogs and because there is wire between each bar on the fence, we felt confident they couldn't get into the field. The cottage was clean, and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would have no hesitation in returning. We visited Berwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Wooler, Morpeth, and Lindisfarne. All lovely in their own way. In the cottage my only suggestion would be could you put a baking tray or or pizza tray in the cupboard? We couldn't find anything big enough to cook pizza on. Otherwise it was an amazing cottage, in a beautiful and perfect location, with easy access to all the attractions, enabling us to have an incredible holiday. Thankyou

Nice property situated close to the beautiful beach at Beadnell.
Felt a little let down as listing stated logs provided for fire - no logs just paper and fire lighters. Would recommend replacing the dishwasher as known to be temperamental, had to buy rinse aid and salt for it as well which I would imagine should have been covered by housekeeping as maintenance. Reported dishwasher to agents who were happy to help and arrange engineer but we managed to get it going in the end. Also owners called to apologise re dishwasher which was a nice touch. Very nice, warm spacious property with an airy Nordic feel. Loved the mattress on the big double bed - great nights sleep. The key safe is really low down and in a bit of an awkward position could do with being moved. All in all nice place to stay
