What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Jordan - Verified booking
We have stayed in A LOT of self-catering cottages over the years and have never been as satisfied or impressed with the attention to detail than at Sovereign. It was only 2 main rooms but they were of good size and were very well laid out; the kitchen was well equipped with the essentials without being overstocked (including sharp knives - we always take our own and they were not needed!), there were also a few provisions (oil, s&p, tissues, cling film, foil, enough dishwasher tablets/washing up liquid, and some comp biscuits!), and a whole empty cupboard to put our own food in which is so often overlooked, it also has a full size fridge freezer which again is not often thought about by many places which just sleep 2, the ice cube trays were also full which meant we were able to have a lovely cold G&T on arrival. Everything was were you thought it should be and well laid out. Shoe racks and coat hooks too. Bed was super comfy, as were the pillows and a lovely squidgy warm duvet - with spare blankets if needed. Only downside (sorry, there has to be something!) was the 'bedside lights' being spotlights - these didn't work for us as not calming and quite bright so would suggest angle-poised bedside table lights. Plenty of clothes space and hangers. Shower was lovely - rainfall head could be angled, and the water temp was great and on demand which helped me to warm up after a paddle board and swim (no wetsuit!). Great location - Seaton was a lovely little seaside town with enough things 'going for it'. A lot of restaurants were closed on the Sunday as 'out of season' but we managed to get a take away pizza from the kebab shop which was REALLY tasty. Great brunch from Coast too - would recommend. Car park was a little further away than we thought it would be (5mins not 2) and it took a bit of thinking to find the cottage, but not a big deal. I quite liked not having the car staring at us, it meant we explored more locally which we might not have done otherwise. We did the tram which was excellent fun, bimbled in the shops in Seaton, did Sidmouth with a local friend, spent time on the beaches, did Beer - all very lovely. We were pleased to notice that customer feedback had been listened to - there is now a full length mirror. Would absolutely stay here again if in the area.

We’ve just spent a week at this lovely apartment and really enjoyed our stay. Was a bit difficult to find initially but once we knew where we were going it was fine! Another reviewer suggested parking in the Aldi car park and walking through and this is a great suggestion as you can park for 90 mins, unload and then move to the car park (there are a choice of car parks that can be used but we always used Orchard Road). The location is great though with a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants etc.within walking distance. The apartment was very well equipped with everything you could need for a stay. The bed was super comfy and the shower was great. As the property had been empty for a few days before we arrived the heating had been turned off and because the apartment has storage heaters that heat up over night it was cold and took a day or two to warm up but there were throws to keep us warm and the owner did kindly offer a heater (which we should have accepted!). Seaton is quiet in March so limited options for eating out in the evening especially from Monday to Wednesday but all the food we had was excellent. Enjoyed the walk to Beer and traveled to Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Bridport. The Seaton tram was lovely but found there wasn’t much to do in Axminster! All in all a lovely relaxing week!

We had a lovely holiday in Beer.
Craft Cottage is in the village itself so it is an easy walk to the local shops, pubs, restaurants and beach. When we looked at the parking in the details before our holiday we thought it might be a bit of a pain having to walk down the road and unlock the gate every time, but it was easy to do and caused no problems. It was out of season, therefore the shops/restaurants were open for shorter hours or less days, but we didn't find this to be a problem. Because it was out of season, it was lovely and quiet. Everyone parks outside Craft cottage to visit the Village Store, which would be more annoying in high season as it would be busier. It is quite noisy outside in the mornings with deliveries to the shop and the school buses reversing into the bus stop. The cottage is very comfortable and had everything we needed. We weren't able to get the gas fire to light while we were there which was a little bit disappointing. There is central heating also which we were thankful for. We have a small dog who isn't able to walk very far. This meant that to reach any level grass for him to use for toileting, we had to go up to the cliff top car park. However, there are lovely views from up on the cliff so although it was a bit of a palaver, it was worth it! We would definitely visit again.

From the original contact with questions on the cottage with Sykes to the contact with the owners for the access, I have nothing but praise for this little gem of a property and the booking process.
The cottage was just as described and had everything you could possibly want and more. It was truly home from home, not the usual 'sterile' holiday let with only the bare basics to survive, there was an abundance of extras, books, DVDs, children's books, games. Plenty of glasses, crockery, children's bowls/plates, chairs outside, picnic bags, blankets etc etc etc. There are two huge bedrooms, with another really good size double and a cute single, (which was nabbed straight away by my grand daughter, with a huge teddy bear that she didn't want to leave behind !) With it being in the middle of the village, yes there was a little noise from the bus stop, but nothing major, but if you want a central position then there will be some traffic noise, but it's not a busy village with through traffic. It is truly a lovely traditional seaside village, with 3 pubs that offer good food, tea room/cafe, cocktail bar, fish and chip shop and a lovely restaurant, which also offers its full menu as a takeaway option if you cannot get booked, add to that the cafes on the beach and you will be well catered for. I would don't hesitate to come again, and hope to revisit in the future Thank you Craft Cottage for a lovely week with my family

This is a charming cottage with many interesting artefacts.
It's location in central Beer is excellent. We are early risers and were untroubled by local traffic noises. The cottage is nicely maintained and well equipped although some soft furnishings and decoration, in particular on the ground floor, are looking jaded and in need of refreshing. As a party of 6 adults we found the lack of a toilet on the top floor of the building to be something of a challenge. The availability of a pleasant garden with useful seating was an asset. The 18 month old, with whom we were holidaying, loved the collection of children's books and toys. I recommend the addition of some basic cleaning equipment, a fully functioning vacuum cleaner and modern dustpan and brush, to allow visitor to keep the cottage tidy during their stay.
