What our customers say about their holidays

We were in the area earlier than the 4pm check in and we called Danielle to see if we could arrive a little bit early, She checked with the cleaner and then called us back to say it was ready early for us, which was a nice start to our break.
When we arrived we were greeted by Danielle and her two lovely dogs and she told us about the hot tub, walks in the area and places to eat nearby, all extremely helpful. The cottage was spotless! You could see it had been deep cleaned ready for us, we found a lovely bottle of prosecco and some home made rocky road brownies waiting for us in the kitchen which was a nice touch by the owners. The cottage was warm, cosy and right next to the river Esk. The hot tub was huge and great to relax in on a night with a glass of bubbles ! We had a newly built viewing area down some steps over looking the river, this would be lovely on a warm morning/evening to sit and watch the wild life. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of wardrobe space, could have done with more hangers in the wardrobe and one of the roller blinds was broken, no pully to open/shut the blind. Bathroom was light and airy and has a very good shower, plenty of towels (even though we took our own too), the shower glass door is very loose and can open so water can go on the floor, this needs attention. Kitchen was a great size and had plenty of cupboards but few glasses, only 1 wine glass and no prosecco glasses. It has two plastic glasses for out side but not great to drink out of while chilling in the living room, and needs a blind at the front door window. Outside area was relaxing and plenty of wood and matches for the chimenea, it does have a small two seater wicker sofa but the cushions had been left out so they were wet and mouldy, not sure why these weren't brought into the cottage ? so we couldn't use that seating area. We are been a little picky with these issues but they are so small and could be easily remedied to make the cottage even better than it is, we will definitely be going back, such a relaxing spot away from everything, just what's needed if you want a chilled out break!

Our stay at Carwinley Mill House Cottage was absolutely wonderful, and we were greeted with a very warm welcome by the owners, then shown around as soon as we arrived.
The cottage had recently been refurbished and we were completely taken aback by how lovely it looked, by the work that had been done to it, and it's history. It was clean, roomy, and absolutely gorgeous! There was plenty of space for two, and outside, the cottage's position created a perfect sun trap at the top sitting area, which was great for relaxing, plus jacuzzi sessions were made even more enjoyable by the nature that was hiding in and around the trees, and the sound of the river. The second sitting area was a few steps below and opened up onto a lovely decked balcony, overhanging the river. It really couldn't get more tranquil. Longtown is perfect for travelling to Scotland, the Lakes, the border, or exploring further south, and my husband and I stayed at Carwinley Mill House Cottage for a week, which for us, wasn't enough, but we had to come home (although we honestly didn't want to leave!) We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we will be booking to stay again. Danielle, Jed, Trevor and Danielle's mum were all so warm and friendly, it really topped off our stay. A huge thank you to you all! We'll be back.

On the whole our stay was lovely and comfortable for the 3 nights we stayed.
Any longer would have been annoying. just a couple of suggestions. -some sort of curtain/blind on patio doors. Once the sun came up I was awake as it was so light at 4am. -a small mirror on the wall in perhaps bedroom area as I need to dry my hair and no where to stand the bathroom mirror. -the pictures in the ad suggested that bathroom toiletries are provided, luckily we brought some. These misleading pictures should be removed. -at the cottage instructions for tv and internet say signal can be weak, however no watchable picture on tv and internet strength was so poor we never were able to use it, which was not an issue for us but may be for others. -first cottage we have ever stayed in and had to go buy washing up liquid. -I think it should be in the add that there is nowhere to hang clothes (some hooks on bedroom side of bathroom door but these are for the likes of towels or coats) or any storage so need to live out of your case during stay. For 3 night this was doable but again any longer would be annoying.

Me and my husband stayed for 3 nights.
Amazing micro-cabin. Very clean and tidy. It is smaller than it looks on the pictures, we wasn't able to use the 'breakfast bar' as a small fridge in now under it. I think that area would be better used as storage and a fold down table be located under the TV as there is a storage box shelf there. Private hot tub is now completely screened off and a chimney with firewood provided. The grounds are large and you're free to walk around, and you walk out thr drive and go on some beautiful walks. As you arrive the property it can be felt that you're in someones back garden, however the grounds are so large you can completely relax and not see anyone after arrival. The owners Trevor and Danielle were fantastic and went through everything when we arrived. An added bonus they have 2 beautiful dogs that are friends and love a cuddle. If you are extremely tall or require any additional room as this is a micro cabin you may not be as comfortable as this beautiful cabin can provide. Would highly recommend staying here.

Me and my husband recently stayed here for our honeymoon and wow!
What a beautiful unique place! So tidy and cosy! Yeah its on the small side but it's not supposed to be a huge mansion, it was just right! Trevor and Danielle are so lovely and welcoming! We even had a little gift of a bottle of bubbly which was a lovely touch! The beds are super comfy, best few nights sleep we've ever had! I know people say they look forward to their own bed but honestly we miss this bed! The hot tub was heated for our arrival and it was amazing sat in the hot tub on the night looking into the beautiful night sky! There's no signal and poor Internet connection but we didn't care, we was there to enjoy each others company and to take in the surroundings! There was coffee, milk and sugar available for us and also hot chocolate and marshmallows to enjoy by the chimnea. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and we couldn't recommend 'reflection' enough! And we definitely want to stay again! Thank you for an amazing and memorable honeymoon!
