What our customers say about their holidays
Laura - Verified booking
This is a review of Tethera that is somewhat delayed!
But as we are about to have our third holiday here from the 10th to the 17th November then it shows we are thrilled with the property. Our first week was in November 2023, our second was in June 2024 and this one in November 2024 will be our third. We most definitely recommend the property. Location wise it is perfect. So central to the best parts of Bowness centre so it could not be easier to choose whether to take out the car or just remain on foot/public transport and additionally makes the oh so taxing choice of eating in or out very flexible at short notice/on a whim. Designated off-road parking in the Lake District is a gem in itself and here there is visitor permits on top. The property internally, is immaculate. The master bedroom is outstanding, large, tons of storage, good quality furniture and be sure to find the camping chairs in the wardrobe. And other hidden treasures such as surplus blankets perfect for those Autumnal/Winter times. The property is definitely on the spacious side so you can easily eat sat at the table/breakfast bar, play games on the table in the large window area and then move to the cosy sofas with blankets to watch TV. There's a selection of books and games too if you don't remember to pack your own. The cleaners do an exceptional job and the place has been spotless on each of our visits. Absolute stars! We still rate it full marks because this is just our personal preference because the only thing we would change is a washing machine/dryer instead of a dishwasher. But that is just personal preference for how we "live" that it's more beneficial to be able to wash dirty walking trousers over the need to fill a dishwasher. Furthermore, the owners live in Essex and on our first visit, last November the broadband/router was not working. After making contact, the owner drove all the way up to Bowness, fixed it while we were out and not only that but when we returned there was also a kind gesture of locally sourced gifts. This was over and above and much appreciated. The speed of the response to the issue and the solution provided was exceptional.

Pure Grace (love the name btw) is a fabulous apartment in a fabulous location, the view couldn't be bettered and to be opposite Windermere and the jetties for the boats made it very special.
The apartment is furnished and equipped to a very high and comfortable standard and it was super clean. however there were a few slightly negative things. 1. we could find no instructions for the microwave and could not figure it out. 2. we could find no instructions for the tv, apple tv asked for passwords so we were limited to BBC iplayer 3. there was a problem with the dishwasher, the middle sprayer had fallen off and we couldn't see how to attach it. 4. the plug in the hand basin in the en-suite shower room doesn't work. 5. the downlighters in the bedroom with the en-suite give off migraine inducing flashes when they have been on for a few minutes. (I emailed Lakelovers with these comments during our stay but had no reply) 6. some nicer mugs would be good. Worth noting for others that the welcome packs are very basic i.e. a few tea bags, coffee sachets, sugar sachets, UHT milk sachets and a few biscuits. Not really worth having, you will have to bring your own initial supplies. The purple folder says that some chocolates were left for our enjoyment, however there were no chocolates. Although very clean and comfortable, it all felt very impersonal and business like. There was a notice beside the lift warning that it could break down at any time due to power shortages, it advised us to use the stairs or put luggage or shopping in the lift and send it on its own. it advised that if we were in couples or groups that not all members should travel together then at least someone would know if we were stuck in the lift - slightly alarming. however the apartment is only one floor up and it is easy to send luggage up/down. although I have listed these 'negatives' they are by way of reporting and would not stop us renting Pure Grace again, we would also recommend it to others.

Stunning apartment, luxurious as promised, the view of the lake and the mountains beautiful.
We were disappointed that there were no Xmas decorations considering weâd booked a Chrismas break away, this is the first time ever weâve had to take our own. The key pick up rather impersonal no directions given etc. No welcome pack or basic provisions again a first out of numerous cottages we have rented in the past. Housekeeping rather lax. Although clean and tidy little things had been missed or forgotten. The dishwasher door was broken this has been reported twice on previous reviews, the hinge was broken making it very dangerous. In addition the smell from the dishwasher was disgusting, the soap dispenser wasnât working. Cupboards untidy no attempt to group items to make things easier to find, some cooking items and table mats dirty. Knives useless, our Chrismas day turkey was hacked rather than carved. Instructions missing for key items. No instructions for heating, cooker instructions eventually found in kitchen. Reported lack of instructions for heating and someone turned up with portable heaters! We were too hot not too cold. The second bedroom was like a sauna it was set at 28 C we discovered on our final day when we managed to work out how to use the heating controls. Batteries had run out on remote control, no TV for our first night. Light bulbs in bedroom out. No basic toiletries in bathrooms. A minor but irritating point was no champagne glasses. Broken leg on sofa. There just seemed to be a lack of care, although luxurious something missing!!! Reflected in some way in that there was no Guest Book allowing you to leave personal comments, hence this rather lengthy review. Would we recommend it to others, yes with caveats. Would we return, yes, as we would be more prepared and that view is to die for!

Very disappointed.
This was our second stay at the property and we thought that the 'hiccups' from last time would be gone. Not so. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the property when we arrived, as we were last time. We thought that lights that didn't work last time surely would this time, wrong! The balcony door had been left half open when we arrived and in a broken state. Reporting this, the maintenance man arrived quite quickly and gave us the best offering he could, ie a screwed in piece of wood to hold it in place and a screwdriver so that I could open it when required (I was not unhappy with this scenario and the maintenance man was very helpful). I had a call back from yourselves with a comment that this had been reported to the owner who was organising a new door(!!) and that they would discuss compensation with him. Compensation wasn't an important item, but when I then get a call from yourselves saying that you had done all that you could so no compensation was appropriate, I was slightly miffed, as this somewhat misses them point. From being happy with your response I went to not wanting to use you again, and wondering if social media is the best way to warn others.

We LOVED this property !
We spent a week here and it was exactly what we needed. we are a family of 4 and we had plenty of room and space for all of us. The main areas like the kitchen, dining and living room had loads of space to sit and relax. Having roku on the tv was great for winding down in the evening. The location is also perfect for tourists to the area, as its a 5 minute walk into the middle of Kendal. There was plenty of space to keep our clothes. You can really tell that the owner tried to provide as many of the important things as possible to make it convenient. Also the bathroom was wonderful, warm and the bath tub is humongous! My only gripe with the property is that the 2 larger beds were really hard to sleep on. The mattresses were very solid, and we kept waking up with sore ribs/back. The single bed was perfectly normal. I hate to even mention it, and it doesn't overshadow our experience staying here. If it weren't for the mattresses, this is the perfect property for anyone to stay in! and we will definitely consider this for future visits.
