What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage was a wonderful place to spend Christmas with the dogs.

Such a cosy, warm cottage but very modern. I was concerned about all the kitchen items I would need to pack to make a Christmas dinner, but Dale reassured me that they had everything available for foodies and they certainly did. The cottage is much bigger than it looks on the photos and it had lots of storage space. We were overwhelmed by the lovely welcome drinks and nibbles we recieved, also emergency tea, coffee and milk as we hadn't had time to stop at the shop. Asda is just a 6 minute drive away but I was sad to hear that there was no village shop. There was also no village pub although Dale directed us to 2 that were a walking distance away and served lovely food. Natland itself is a cute little village, imagine the Vicar of Dibley setting. There is a church at the heart of the village and we attended 3x over the festive period and enjoyed every service. The locals were lovely and recognised us from our walks with the dogs. The walks were great for the dogs and the views were lovely. It was a short drive to Windermere where you can get a boat to other areas such as Ambleside. The dogs would get quite muddy on their walks so Dale also gave us access to the outhouse area where there is a washing machine, you can hang wet clothes and also wipe down the dogs. The most amazing part for us was that as we have two small dogs, the garden wasn't secure for them, especially Daisy my Cavachon who is like Houdini. When I mentioned this to Dale, he spent Christmas Eve in the rain securing the fence with a mesh. This was way beyond what I would ever have expected and I was so grateful as the garden is now secure for small pooches who want to stay. Thank you and we would love to go back again.

Good Morning I have just returned home after spending 3 nights in your cottage.

The cottage itself is beautiful, however I was thoroughly disappointed at our inability to access the internet or watch television. We did speak to the people from your Ambleside office who sent out the maintenance team, they were unable to connect the internet as they said it had been cut off from outside somewhere. They then reported this to their manager who said they would contact the owner and get back to us. As yet, I’m still waiting on a return call to the only phone that could pick up a signal as the rest of us were relying on internet as two of us were visiting from Canada. My husband was supposed to be working from home and was unable to do so. We also reported a bleeping noise that went off every five minutes and kept us awake, the maintenance crew couldn’t find where the noise was coming from so disconnected the “flood system “, this didn’t rectify the problem as the bleeping still continued. I would like to suggest that the welcome pack is put on the worktop as it was in the bottom drawer and we didn’t find it until yesterday. Also it would be a good idea to have instructions on how to operate the washer/dryer and cooker. We could only get the oven to work. I was really disappointed as I feel I paid over £700 for 3 days and expected everything to be in working order. These are things I feel should be checked before every new arrival. Regards Lynn Crawford

This property is in a great location within easy walking distance of the racecourse and Priory and the town square with a vast selection of dog friendly pubs and restaurants, cafes and shops to suit every taste and budget.

The interior of the property is tastefully decorated. The good sized living room and bedroom have a cozy, warm feeling to them and provide a home from home. We appreciated the many extra touches provided to add to the comfort of our stay. Thanks for the lovely bottle of wine and basic provisions to get us started. The owner answered our questions honestly when booking so we were prepared to deal with the fact that there was no garden or parking and the tiny shower room, off the galley kitchen. Slippers are needed but the shower worked well and the wide windowsill provided ample space to put bags containing our bathroom stuff which was easily reachable from the shower. Small bathrooms can be easier to negotiate and that proved to be the case here, albeit one at a time. These things did not detract from our stay, either for ourselves or our two Labradors who loved their holiday with regular walks around the racecourse , albeit sometimes in the early hours of the morning, (an extra evening walk after dinner solved that difficulty) and a choice of lovely dog friendly beaches and stately homes with extensive grounds to visit within easy reach. Overall this apartment provided excellent value for money and the residents parking permit provided for use during our stay proved invaluable.

Turning up on the first night in the dark to no signage on the gate itself wasn't very helpful, it was only sign posted from 1 direction on the road, having never been before and In pitch black we wasn't sure where to go.

Definitely a sign on the main gate would be helpful. The front room was cold, 2 fan heaters had been left however 1 fan doesn't work the other only blows cold air, we spent the evenings with blankets on the sofas. I could only imagine how cold it would actually be given the temperatures outside plumited. No way of changing the heating temperature either. The heating wasn't the only boiler issue, with only 2 of us here even after running one bath the hot water runs out and you have to wait for the full system to top back up. Not ideal as this took a couple of hours too. Also the main bathroom with the bath only had frosted glass windows looking onto the car park. No blinds, when the bath is straight opposite the window this definitely needs a blind. Beeping noise coming from the second bathroom, having looked at previous reviews this issue had been raised before and yet not fixed? In the main bedroom there was a lovely beemd fireplace with such potential however it was just filled with all WiFi boxes which on a night lit up the room. I imagine in summer sat out around the back with the view would be quiet nice, however we got the impression it had been rushed with not much thought or consideration gone into. Shame for such a lovely area

The property was very clean and well equipped.

The heating was a problem , far too cold in the sitting room and problems with all the TV sets and internet . Whilst I appreciate the isolation of the property , there was no signal connecting Sky handset and box through the Sky remote . The office were very efficient in sending maintenance out twice bringing a convector heater and trying to sort out TV’s having visited to do this on the Monday and again on the Wednesday , I had to call the office again on the Friday regarding TVs , although declining a 3rd visit we were not desperate for a TV to watch on our last night but wanted to allow for issues to be sorted for following holiday makers . I would suggest the owners spend time sorting out the TV’s and internet , upgrading the equipment . Having 3 phone calls and 2 visits for the same ongoing issues in less than a week must be expensive calling out a maintenance team and frustrating for office staff who can only best play the hand they are dealt . Whilst the listing of three TV’ seems impressive the realisation that not even one TV worked for the week was both disappointing and frustrating The service from the office was exemplary .
