Lake District Lodges & Log Cabins

The Lake District is one of the wildest and most naturally beautiful regions of the UK. Lifelong inspiration for Wordsworth, as well as plenty of other artists and poets, the Lakes are an idyllic, untamed place for a log cabin holiday or a private lodge retreat. Rustic, spacious and boasting all mod-cons, Lake District cabins offer the best of both worlds - luxury and comfort with plenty of rustic character and charm, ideal for holidays with all the family, romantic getaways, or hiking holidays with your friends. There are log cabins available for all tastes, requirements and budgets. Looking for luxury lodges on your Lake District holiday? Or somewhere with a hot tub? Best locations for a cabin holiday in the Lake District

Think picture-perfect views, snowy peaks and miles upon miles of hiking and cycling trails, a Lake District holiday is a nature lover's paradise. But where's the best place for log cabins? There are, of course, the lakes themselves, including Lake Windermere, Coniston Water and Ullswater. Why not take a boat-ride across the largest of the lakes, Windermere, to take in the stunning scenery, or head to one of our luxury lodges in the unspoiled wilderness that surrounds Ennerdale? There are also plenty of other locations for beautiful Lake District lodges and log cabins to holiday in.

What our customers say about their holidays

  • Nigel - Verified booking

First visit to White Cross Bay, after our holiday abroad was cancelled and we (2 adults and 2 kids, 12 and 15 plus dog) had a great time and will definitely return.

The lodge was excellent, located nicely in the middle of the site, not far away from the lake and also the onsite facilities, the lodge was large in size, clean and very welcoming, large living area, tv’s in the bedrooms and two bathrooms, one being en-suite to the large bedroom, bedrooms were of good size and there was nothing to fault. We couldn’t use the hot tub on the first evening as it was only 30 degrees, but that is to be expected if the water had been changed prior. The sites facilities were generally lacking in the way of any entertainment, nothing for the kids other than a really small games room and small swimming pool but it’s not what we visited the lakes for so wasn’t an issue for us, the WIFI was very sporadic and this coupled with poor mobile coverage meant it was fun to order via the app in the onsite restaurant\pub which caused some frustration and it would be ideal to have the pay by card\cash option absolve without any “debate” with the bar staff. The site itself was excellent, nice walks into the wood and also along the lake, with very easy access to the water itself for Paddleboards etc, it was disappointing the onsite shop closed at 5pm, even if it was not busy after 5pm for a site without any nearby shops having the shop until 7pm would be better, although we had access t a car so a pleasant trip to Ambleside and Bowness was not a issue. Brockhole was also great place to visit for kids and adults, but most activities were booked although we eventually managed to get the kids onto a few things. The lodge had a few things to address such as the kitchen tap would not stop dripping, the heating would not work but that was quickly fixed by the maintenance staff, and there seems to be a wasps nest above the backdoor in the apex of the roof, but the aspects above did not take away anything from the holiday. The only thing I would change If I was to book again is to book any meals out and activities weeks ahead, but the lodge and site is perfect will be considered in the future.

Do you remember that hot Easter weekend of 2019?

Damson Lodge was a delight from start to finish. The layout works really well, with a well proportioned kitchen, eating and social area, but to be honest, the weather was so glorious, we spent most of time on the deck at the rear of the Lodge, surrounded by plants and bushes. The hot tub is screened off for privacy. We booked 3 Lodges for our large group, with 4 generations of family and all agreed that Damson Lodge was the nicest. The little ones could roam around the house and deck, as the small access gate could be closed and locked. The older ones could sit and relax . Decor was tasteful and calming, and a message to the owners, thank you, we appreciated all those little touches you find in a privately owned property, from cutlery and utensils for every occasion, to books, dvds, etc. We were out and about most days, but White Cross Bay is and attractive location, and well worth exploring from the Marina and into the woods at the rear. There's more to this site than we had time to discover. Would we go back, yes. Would we go back to Damson Lodge, definitely, and can recommend it. What did you enjoy most about your stay? The sunshine really helped. the attractiveness of the Lodge, resort and Lake District. All age groups had a lovely time.....and for me, getting out on the water. What one experience (e.g attraction, walk, day out) would you recommend for our future guests? for more gentile sight seeing - Windermere & Bowness and Ferry. For the more active, Grizdale forest with Go Ape, bikes and segways.

The property was on the whole to a high standard.

Inside was great, apart from a few dated utensils. Sofas acceptable although could be a little bigger as quite shallow and not as comfortable. Windows and doors are getting tired and are stiff and difficult to open and close. An annoying drip over the front door from a compromised gutter. Parkdean didn’t seem happy to help, when ( the lady on reception) realised we hadn’t booked with them direct. However, I would book again, great lodge position and super clean. Comfortable beds, good size fridge freezer , etc. Clean carpets, no smell and tasteful finishes. Key box is awkward if motor skills are not 100% or a customer is disabled! Took us a few attempts to open it. Hot tub was clean, water level did drop the day before we left. Obviously it wasn’t refilled as this would have reduced the temperature. Plenty of seating around the outside space, decking was slippy due to the rain in the night. The area outside the front door remained safe as this was different material and maybe in the future the whole decking area would benefit from this upgrade. We were careful so no problem but if used by children could be a problem. Loved our stay at Damson Lodge thank you. The above is only feed back and not intended to offend or complain

We booked this lodge based on previous reviews and sadly it did not meet our expectations.

On arrival the lodge was warm and appeared clean - we later discovered the microwave was filthy and on using the hob grease actually dripped down from the cooker hood. We cleaned this to make it usable and reported to the cleaning ladies who assured us they would do a deep clean for the incoming guests. The lodge is very well equipped and the towels and bedding were really lovely. However the lodge is in need of some TLC. There are some marks on the wallpaper in several areas and the dining chairs are badly marked. The outside area is very well furnished but the decking and surrounding railings need repair work.- we had to use a recliner against the railings to ensure our dog did not escape. The hot tub was well serviced on a daily basis but the brambles growing through the fence into this area made it a challenge to remove the cover without getting scratched. All the PAT tests on the electrical equipment expired in January 2024 - not a legal requirement we know but reassuring to guests that they are staying in a safe property. We don't feel we could recommend this lodge unless some time and money is spent bringing it up to standard!

This was our 2nd time staying at honeysuckle lodge.

We absolutely love it we do and will be booking back up. But, when we got there on Monday gone. First inspection of the hot tub wasn't the sight I wanted to see. It was filthy and had floating clumps of hair. It looked like the filter was broken and definitely open to the elements as the cover was off. We reported this to sykes and the lady I spoke too was amazing and said she would get it sorted ASAP. Later the next day the hot tub cleaning guys came. Said that the filter was due a change in 4 days so they just left it. This wasn't good enough. Next day the boss of hot tub guys came and seen. And couldn't believe it had been left in the state it was. Anyways 2 days after we got there it got sorted. The decking definitely needs a bit TLC too tbh. But still an amazing sun trap. The lodge itself inside is amazing as always. I said in my last review in Feb that the double bed needed new mattress and it has got an amazing, comfortable new mattress. The tiles in kitchen are coming up a bit now though so they need sorted. But, like I've said we absolutely love this lodge ans will be back.
