What our customers say about their holidays
Sally - Verified booking
We had asked before booking if the garden was secure as we were bringing our 2 dogs.
The reply from Sykes Cottages was "The owner has come back to us and said yes the garden is enclosed. We have dogs and ensure the property is dog friendly" On arrival, I was concerned about some areas of the fencing as there were some large gaps between the wires (especailly as there were sheep in the next field) but the front corner of the wall/fencing wasn't secure at all, due to the gradiant of the ground, it was just a step over for the dogs to get out. It took our older Golden Retriever just under 30 mins to find teh gap! Shame, as it put a dampner on being able to just let them out, especially first thing on a morning, the last thing you want to do on holiday is have to get dressed to let the dogs out. It meant anytime the dogs were in the garden they had to be on a lead, with one of us stood with them. I would not consider the garden to be enclosed/secure. Teh bungelow it's self has great facilities dishwasher, washing machine / dryer but no washing line? I'd really encourage the owners to provide a washing line. Main bedroom. There was a comfortable double bed, but it would have been a nicer stay if the bed had been a king, Properly sounds petty to some, but the sheets should have been ironed and towels should be provided. Rubbish and recycling - suggestion to the owners to add to the guest informaton re what bin is used for what, as it's so different depending on where you live. Overall, we would recormmend the property to other guests, the view is it's best asset, truly amazing.

We had a wonderful stay at Lowley Brook Farm.
Peter and Liz are great hosts. The cabin was spotless and had all the amenities that one would need for a comfortable stay. Peter had baked fresh bread for us and also provided us with their hen's fresh eggs, local fresh milk and Bacon from the local farm shop Tre Pol and Pen. Butter, cooking oil, sugar, coffee and tea as well as assorted fruits were also kept for our consumption. Therefore we did not need to buy anything on arrival. Peter and Liz greeted us on arrival and offered suggestions about local things. We managed to feed the alpacas with Peter which was a unique experience for us. Their dogs Bryn and Magg are very gentle and were very keen to involve us in throwing their ball. What can one say about most majestic Douglas and his harem which he guards diligently . You wake up to his crowing and he is very keen to come to your doorstep to make his presence felt. My wife bribed him with breadcrumbs, he quickly became her devoted fan. Peter uses water from their brook (lowley brook) for everything. The water is filtered to 4 microns and tastes very good indeed. During our stay it rained quite a lot which made the brook water minimally cloudy, but Peter kindly provided us with big bottles of drinking water, much appreciated. In spite of inclement weather we had a good time at Lowley Brook Farm. We would recommend this place for any couple wanting peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. Thank you peter and Liz

A perfect stay!
This holiday cottage is fantastic. Everything is finished to a very high standard and is extremely comfortable, along with being very accommodating to both us and our four legged friends. The owners, Brian and Sarah, were fantastic and always on hand if we had any questions or needed recommendations of local places to visit. The cottage is really well situated to be within driving distance of many local attractions, but is also in a lovely quiet and secluded farm setting giving the best of both worlds. There is a Tesco superstore and petrol station a convenient 15 minute drive away, if you happen to like to cook meals at the cottage - which the kitchen was very well equipped for. Tea, coffee, sugar and milk were provided on arrival, and if staying with dogs, water bowls, a few dog treats and even a dog bed for use during your stay. The courtyard area outside the property is ideal for dogs as it is enclosed, but also a nice little sun trap should you choose to sit outside and enjoy a beverage or two on a sunny day. A dog waste bin is also provided making tidying up after yourself nice and easy. The internet connection was always speedy and reliable, so is ideal for those who may need to do a little work etc whilst away. All in all we had a fantastic time here and would happily stay again! Highly recommended! Thank you for a great stay Brian and Sarah

Cottage is comfortable with views to die for.
There should be some separate notices printed near appliances such as the electric hob and heating controls to keep it simple and cost effective. Searching through a book full of instructions just to find out how to turn things on was frustrating. Not everyone is all electric at home. Some previous customers had not cleaned the oven. Could not find instruction on recycling. Refuse collector came on Tuesday he said put all the rubbish in the brown bin and they sort it, this is rather different from where we come from. I should be pointed out the cottage is remote and a round trip of 40 mins to the nearest shop if you want anything. It is nice to be able to take your dog, the fencing around the property is adequate for a small dog but a larger dog would jump it easily. Their were sheep right up to the boundary fence. Dog owners must be responsible..... A very nice property in a beautiful location just plan your days out and donât forget anything. Your sat nav will take you a different way to what is described in the instructions. Both ways come down to narrow country lanes, there are two ways to arrive at Summer court.

Beautiful cottage in a peaceful setting.
The Granary has everything you could need for cottage holiday with plenty of kitchen pots/pans/utensils etc and there was shortbread biscuits, tea & coffee waiting for us on arrival along with essentials like soap & toilet rolls in the bathrooms. Ideally situated for visiting North Cornwall and Devon. Plenty of places within easy reach including Newquay, Padstow, Bude, Tintagel, Boscastle. My daughter even had her 1st surf lesson at Newquay. Several National Trust places nearby, would highly recommend a trip to Lanhydrock. Carnglaze Caverns is a good wet weather option and if you like puzzles then definitely worth a visit to Hidden Valley Discovery Park which is just a few minutes drive. We met wild ponies when driving over Bodmin Moor which were very inquisitive and friendly, not very wild! Thereâs a lovely walk down the footpath outside the cottage, across the stream and back round via the road. We had such a wonderful week and would highly recommend The Granary for anyone looking for a place to stay. Brian & Sarah were very friendly and helpful.
