Slightly delayed review!
I booked Harbour Hideaway as a very last minute few days away with my mum and kids last July. I was nervous as I knew there were steps involved which mum would find challenging, however the pictures and reviews looked good enough for me to chance it and Iâm so glad I did. The house is upside down, with a double bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. Up the first flight of stairs to another double room and a room with two singles, along with a cloakroom. Finally up to the second floor for the open plan kitchen and living space, boasting a balcony with harbour views (hence the property name). The whole place was beautifully decorated with a theme in keeping with the location. It was clean and well stocked with games, local leaflets and coffee. We were greeted before arrival with a text message from the owners with the front door key-box code and wishing us a pleasant stay, with their contact details should we have any issues. I contacted them with a couple of minor questions and received a prompt and comprehensive response - despite them being out of the country! Harbour Hideaway is situated just off the waterfront, almost in the centre of town. 60 seconds from the front door and you are in the high street, surrounded by cafes and gift shops; the beach and Banjo Pier a few minutes down the road one way and a supermarket and pharmacy the other way. There is no parking at the accommodation, however you can stop nearby to unload the car and then there is a long stay car park at the front of town, a short walk away. The weather was not kind to us, but we still managed to sit on the balcony with our morning tea, go for a walk along the pier, skim stones on the beach and catch fish and crabs along the harbour walls. The only reason I wouldnât recommend the beautiful Harbour Hideaway would be that I donât want it full when I wish to book again!

We had a fantastic weekend at Harbour Hideaway, the house is amazing and tastefully decorated.
Beds were very comfortable and room sizes were ideal. Looe has become a happy place for us, so it was lovely to see all the little pun signs on the walls spread around the house. The Christmas tree was a bonus, we wasn't expecting it at all and was a nice surprise, especially as we went to Fowey Christmas Market, it put us nicely in the Christmas mood. We noticed some damp on the first floor of the propoerty in the bathroom and twin bedroom, nothing much but may get out of hand if it's not treated correctly. The kitchen had everything we needed and was well equipped, the whole house is very well laid out. The views are amazing, it was lovely to wake up and see the harbour and we drank our morning coffee on the balcony with great views of the river. I loved the clock at the top of the stairs and it has inspired me to look for one myself, I also loved the painting of 'Looe Lovers' by the dining table, I'm on the hunt to find the print from the local artist. As ever, there is always something to do in Looe, we walked on the beach and on Banjo Pier, had a coffee overlooking St George's Island from Hannafore and we drove to Tannd Bay and Lantic Bay. We look forward to coming back and thank you for a wonderful stay at Harbour Hideaway. PS. If you know where I could source the print 'Looe Lovers' - please let me know!!!

This really is a hideaway but at the same time so central for everything in Looe.
The cottage was actually better than I thought it would be and it looked lovely on the website. Bright and very clean with beautiful views of the Harbour. Very tastefully decorated, loved the feature walls and the accessories from local gift shops. Everything you need, modern kitchen with dishwasher, coffee machine. Tea, coffee, sugar supplied. Dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid etc. Beds are comfortable, plenty of storage etc. lovely shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways, 2 Coop stores all on your doorstep. Sarahâs pastyâs and Catch fish and chips highly recommend. Loads of useful info and advice in the cottage. The only downside is parking, definitely go in Millpool car park and get a weekly season ticket online, itâs about a 5-10 minute walk and follow instructions to get nearer the cottage for unloading luggage etc. on arrival/departure. Not a problem as such but just something to be aware of. Thank you for a wonderful week. Weâll be back.

Pixie Cottage is a very old fishermanâs cottage and was built when people were shorter than now.
Iâm 5â 9â or 1m 75cm for those that think that way. I managed to go a whole week without banging my head on the staircase, only doing so on the last morning. For anyone taller I would just say heed the warnings or youâll collect a good few bruises. Also, you will have to crouch when using the shower as there was barely an inch or so of clearance between my head and the ceiling. Other than that the cottage is great, superbly equipped and only a short walk from the centre of Looe. However, that walk is relatively steep, especially if you opt to turn left and take the short route. You have to bear in mind that we hail from Cambridgeshire where it is relatively flat. I would say that if you have mobility issues I could not recommend staying here but if you are generally fit I would have no reservations whatsoever in saying itâs a great place to stay.

Pros The cottage is conveniently located with easy access to West and East Looe and Hannafore as well as the local Spar and 72 and 73 bus stops.
The lane is generally quiet, and we were lucky and took advantage of the free parking space opposite the cottage. The rooms are spacious and clean when we arrived. Cons The cottage still has a number of damp patches. The dining area wall is particularly damp, as well as blistering of paint from the ceiling in the main bedroom. Despite previous responses that has been fixed, there is still a great deal of damp in the cottage and so much so we could never get our clothes to dry! Whilst tastefully decorated and furnished we found the wet room difficult to use as there is only a small space near the entrance that is not wet. Also the vinyl type wet room floor kept coming away from the tiles. It would have been helpful to have a freezer (even if a small freezer compartment at the top of the fridge).
