What our customers say about their holidays
Emma - Verified booking
We have just returned from staying and im disappointed by the quality and cleanliness of the apartment.
There was only 1 glass in the kitchen (apart from wines glasses) in the cupboard there was a broken plate and cracked mug. The floors are so dirty. I donât think they have been hoovered in a while. I dropped something under the sofa and was disgusted by the clumps of dust and hair on the floor. We had to wear socks all the weekend as you wouldnât walk bare foot (would recommend taking slippers) There was loads of hairs everywhere. In had to clean the bath before using it and there was so many hairs in the bed. I had to lit roller the bed but still couldnât get them all. The amenities are really poor, only got 1 toilet roll, no hand soap in the bathroom, no logs for the fire. We come to celebrate a special birthday and I spent the first day cleaning and it basically put a damper on the whole weekend. The apartment has so most potential as the location and apartment could be great but itâs looking tired, lacks the basics and isnât clean.

Property in excellent location , there is no parking at the property you can unload your car and then move it to the car park which is a couple of minutes walk away and a permit is given for the length of your stay , we didn’t find it a problem. Beer is a lovey quaint place with plenty of places to eat and drink , it’s has a lovely deli and bakery a small store , a couple of dress shops and lovely gift shops .The beach is pebbles with beach huts you could rent for around £20 a day or £85 a week or just hire deck chairs for £2 . Also a fish shed at the beach selling the catch of the day you couldn’t get fish any fresher it was lovely . Beer is definitely a lovey place and would definitely recommend a visit . Seabreeze cottage is a lovely place to stay our only issue was working the tv we got there in the end but never did manage to get rid of the subtitles !!

We have used this apartment several times because of its location and the fact it is dog friendly.
However the serious lack of investment shows. On arrival the balcony area where you enter was filthy. We swept the worst of it ourselves. The actual apartment was clean apart from the velux windows which were extremely dirty. They are easy to reach and swivel in for cleaning so thereâs no excuse. The kitchen is very poorly equipped. There are no side plates so we ate our toast from bowls. We reported this several months ago and it is no better. The can opener is in the drawer in bits. The pots are in a shocking state and should be thrown out. Itâs such a shame because a few hundred pounds of investment would make such a difference. As it stands it is definitely not a gold standard property. Numerous other people have raised the same issues. The positives are itâs cosy, the shower is decent and the bed is comfy. Such a shame about the rest.

Upon arrival it was clear that the property had not been properly cleaned and that the previous occupant had left it filthy.
Emergency cleaners were called and we had to fumigate to try and erase the smell of wet dog. The outside, supposedly romantic terrace, was a disgrace and unusable. Soiled, soaking furniture. It had clearly not been maintained for a very long time. Inside, as well as the filthy conditions, there were the following issues; - Broken (and dirty) crockery/utensils - Scalding hot water (temperature switch broken) which was dangerous - Broken bedside light - stained chaises longue - dead flies on all window ledges - dog hair cover the settee - cigarette butts on floor and table outside - moss growing on outside chairs - full rubbish bags on terrace (leaking old milk) This was described as luxury but it was far from it. Sub-standard bedding and towels does not equal luxury. Such a shame as with some TLC this could be so much better.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at Old wool loft.
The location is excellent. I agree with some of the other reviews around sweeping the patio area, and new cushions on the sofa (doesnât cost much to refresh those). It would be good if hand soap was provided in the bathroom as a basic need, we had to go out to get our own of everything, washing liquid, kitchen roll, salt and pepper. These are things that generally come as standard in other lake lovers properties that weâve stayed in over the years. We were fortunate to have excellent weather all week so really enjoyed using the patio furniture in the evening and people watching from the balcony. The bed was huge and comfortable. The bedroom being in the loft does get very hot, luckily weâd brought our own fan which was a godsend.
