What our customers say about their holidays

We were staying to attend a wedding unfortunately the facilities were not there in any of the rooms to accommodate us having a stress free morning getting ready There are no mirrors in the bedrooms no place to dry hair or put makeup on We would have liked to get ready in the privacy of our own rooms Doing makeup and hair in the mirror at the front door wasnât what we expected and having to go up and down the tiny stairs more than should have been necessary wasnât good There was no full length mirror any where in the cottage We knew there was one bathroom and worked round this but the lack of these facilities impacted our stay Originally booked to accommodate our little dog who sadly didnât make it as a wedding guest The bedding quilt cover on the beds was rough on the skin maybe a bit past itâs best Written down this may seem like a lot but Iâm sure with the addition of these few things would mean each guest could enjoy getting ready for the day in the privacy of their own rooms The kitchen area is lovely and well equipped with the large seating area to gather round The bathroom is spotless and the shower is good pressure and always had hot water The weather during our stay wasnât the best so we didnât have an opportunity to explore but we were there to attend a wedding therefore a different type of visit luckily the sun came out in time and we had a lovely day The area all around is lovely especially in the sunshine just a shame we couldnât take advantage of the garden

This is a return visit as we loved the cottage so much in October 2021.
It was lovely to see our previous feedback had clearly been read by the owners of this beautiful cottage, which shows how much they care about your stay. The cottage was so cosy and so warm to come back to after blowy days walking in the different parts of the coastal trail. There was a fleecy blanket for our pooch along with poo bags incase you forget yours. The kitchen has everything you need and more. The cottage is perfectly situated for walks to the Whitehills harbour and rocky beach, but being right on the coastal trail you are so close to beaches/towns of Banff, Cullen, Pennan etc. We love how dog friendly the owners clearly are(a shame the previous occupants didn't have the same attentiveness as they had left dogs mess in the garden, why spoil it for everyone whilst giving the owners a bad name). We have fallen in love with this home from home and would most definitely be wanting to return again and again, the only thing that would make us consider other accommodation is the bed, although Silent Night mattresses we didn't sleep well and had sore backs for the best part of the holiday. Very comfy sofas, love the fact there is a separate shower cubicle and bath. The garden albeit totally enclosed(larger dogs that jump could escape if left alone outside) I still feel the VERY thorny bushes are an extreme hazard. End on a positive note; was gutted to be leaving.

We really enjoyed our stay at campbell cottage.
From booking to arrival kept well informed of confirmation, arrival date , directions, things to remember, key code etc. Arrived to find spacious car parking . The cottage was spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped with everything we'd need during our stay . Including tea ,coffee, milk, yummy highland cow shortbread biscuits ,washing up liquid , sponge ,cloth, tea towel etc . The views over Loch Rannoch were simply stunning. There was clear informative instructions as to how everything in the cottage worked , places to eat and lots of tourist information. We were organised by taking supplies with us as other reviews had stated the local shop wasn't well stocked with fresh produce , however we didn't find this at all . Pitlochry and Aberfeldy were both around 20 miles from the cottage (Pitlochry had a co-op) . Or both Asda and morrisons would deliver to the farm should you require. Our personal experience nothing not to like about the cottage. Peaceful, tranquil, stunning views , pet friendly, good car parking facilities, clean comfortable cottage . We would highly recommend and hope to return.

This property is cold, damp a dirty.
The advertised 'open fire' is out of use with the chimney stuffed with newspapers. The kitchen is greasy with dirty glasses and utencils. Dampness and damp smell everywhere. Wi dows running with water/dampness all the time. Grubby bathroom with black grime in shower area. Broken blinds inside the wardrobe. Dead bugs and dust behind beds. Whole property would benefit from deep clean. Baby's milky bottle top inside sittingroom cupboard. Dead bugs and debris under sitting room furniture. We are all very unwell due to staying in this horrendous property. Dehumidifier units throughout the property so the owners are aware of the damp issue quite clearly. We arrived Friday evening and Sykes Cottages were notified of concerns at 9.30am Saturday. Morning. We called Sykes again on Saturday afternoon but still no help. We finally received a call from Sykes on Sunday afternoon by which time we are all in bed ill. This cottage has made my family very ill not to mention the loss of a week's holiday. This is a DISGRACE!!!

The cottage is beautiful, cosy and convenient and would most definitely consider returning should we holiday that way in the future.
The only thing we found which wasn't really a huge problem to us was the back is missing from the cupboard with the pans in and they are falling back into the old fire place, the cupboard with the salt pepper etc hadn't been cleaned and there were two trays along side of the pan cupboard that had food on them still. As I said this did not affect our stay and we cleaned the cupboard out which wasn't a hardship(it was nice to have condiments available to us). Beautiful garden and the views are stunning, we were watching the dolphins from the snug. It would be good to know in advance there is not a toilet upstairs. Just a note to the owner that the bushes at the back of the property as they will be aware is VERY spiky and not great for dogs eyes or children's hands. Thank you for letting your beautiful property out to dog owners especially and I hope we left it to their satisfaction(we have a big hairy dog, so were paranoid about keeping the carpets clean). Michelle, Troy, Sheenagh and Leonberger Morgana Palmer.
