What our customers say about their holidays

This is a great little modern apartment right in the centre of Bowness but yet still in a quiet cul de sac.
It has a smart tv in both the lounge & bedroom with a Netflix account included, and every mod con including air con fans (which were greatly appreciated in the wonderful weather we had all week). For a curly haired person like myself the hairdryer with diffuser is also a great addition. You are provided with little packs with tea, coffee, sugar, milk & biscuits and there is also hand wash, cloths & washing up liquid. No shampoo etc though so you need to bring your own. There is a Co-op 2 mins walk away for anything you need. Everything is literally on your door step. Parking is slightly up the hill so you need to offload outside the flat then move the car, which is no problem. Negatives: a better variety of glasses would be good eg wine, pint glasses. The shower is a law unto itself! It seems to turn to scalding at a seconds notice. Setting it to the correct temperature was a bit of a challenge. The socket where the washing machine & microwave is situated does not appear to work. Luckily we had an extension cable with us. There are no instructions for anything in the apartment & if youâre not a tech genius like my husband you might struggle. There was also nothing to tell us what to do with our rubbish. The mattress on the bed is unfortunately pretty hard. We like a reasonably hard mattress but we actually took the duvet cover off and used the duvet as a mattress cover to make it more comfortable. Overall would highly recommend this apartment and we will certainly return!

Ramblers Rest is a lovely apartment with gorgeous views & a very friendly pair of resident ducks on the pond in the grounds.
It was clean & comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable, but the room is a little overcrowded with big wooden furniture making it difficult to move around in there. The shower curtain was missing on arrival but this was soon put right after a phone call to Lakelovers /Sykes. We found the WiFi a bit hit & miss which does affect the television channels you can receive, but this wasnât a huge problem. There is limited mobile signal too. A comment for the owners would be to update the instruction sheets & bin all the old ones. It was a little confusing to say the least, which is a shame when a lot of effort has been put in to make it easy to work the various pieces of equipment in the apartment. A comment for Sykes would be to give a better idea of just how far the parking space is from the apartment. This may not be an issue for most people, but we are the wrong side of 60 & my husband has a health condition which meant I had several long trips to & from the car when we arrived & left. Overall it was a great place to stay for a few nights & we had a nice time at Ramblers Rest.

Lovely property in a great location so handy for the centre of Ambleside and with a car park pass so you could safely park your car in the large car park a couple of minutes from the property.
The road the property is on is very narrow and double yellow lined so it is slightly problematic when arriving with luggage. The road is also very noisy on occasion. Right opposite a pub and the dustbin wagon woke us very early one morning. There was a big problem with the main TV in the lounge which was described as a Sky/Smart TV meaning you could watch on demand services. We noticed very quickly that there were no streaming capabilities but the very helpful housekeeper had her husband visit us on the Saturday morning to attempt to resolve it when it was discovered that not only was it not a Smart TV, it neither had any of the Sky functionality either due to the owner's account issues with Sky. In fairness, the father of the owner did try and resolve the issues but it went from getting a new TV on day 2 to finally getting a Roku streaming stick on day 4. The facilities at the property were very good - no microwave but a double oven, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher etc. The bed linens and towels were of excellent quality but, as some other reviews have mentioned, the sofa is pretty uncomfortable.

Lakelovers are not accurately describing this property.
Nor are they honest with their customers. Received an email 45 mins before check in advising that the dishwasher was broken and an engineer was coming out. On speaking with the owner, itâs been broken for months. I also enquired with LL when the pool house would reopen, to be told that Lakelovers have nothing to do with the pool. Again on speaking with the owner itâs been closed since before we booked but yet Lakelovers are quite happy to list this as a feature. The property is also not being cleaned properly. Shower curtain mouldy, kitchen cupboards, walls and skirting are filthy and the cleaners are just wiping round strong bleach which is overpowering when you enter the door. The location is good, the views are lovely, and if advertised accurately, youâd know what to expect. All in all, the location is whatâs great about this property, the bonus of a washing machine and piping hot water. Shame on Lakelovers for not working for the owner effectively. Iâd stay at the property again if it was advertised elsewhere but wonât book with LL again.

Absolutely lovely property and we had a fantastic stay.
We were both impressed with the cleanliness and the attention to detail throughout. The kitchen was lovely and more than adequate for our two meals in (the other one we ate out) and the bathroom was fantastic ⦠bath/shower and separate shower! Toiletries were provided and lovely big towels. The bed was not so comfortable for me (bad back/arthritic knees) but that was just me. The only grumble was the settee was quite uncomfortable for both of us but my husband managed on a chair and I sank into the settee but didnât feel comfortable. Wouldnât stop me coming back though! The owners kindly provided us with a lovely hamper which was much appreciated, and we love the location too. Parking is always going to be a problem in Ambleside but we were provided with a parking disc to allow us free parking during our stay. We would love to come back ⦠Ambleside is one of our happy places and the Old Village Shop is a wonderful place to stay. Thank you, we had a wonderful relaxing stay and used buses to get around! Perfect and lovely!
