  We relaxed as soon as we arrived! We loved being able to walk over the road and be on the beach but also being able to retreat away when we needed a rest. The house was fresh and felt loved. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we could need. The beds were comfy! We used the parking for unloading and loading on arrival/departure but parked in the harbour or opposite The Atlantic Inn aside from then - we knew our car wasn't small so would likely not fit well (it fitted but so tightly it felt as though it was going to end in wiping it down a wall at some point if we did it often!) but being able to park close for those days was great and it was easy to find parking close-by that was better sized for our car when we needed it. There's an outside tap for washing down muddy or sandy things which we found really helpful. The location is great, both for Porthleven but also for the surrounding area. Plenty to do without getting into the car, and even more if you do. All in all we loved it and would happily have stayed for another week!

  Under floor heating a big draw for us and it wasn’t working. Clearly hadn’t worked for a while so very disappointed at not being told until I complained. Electric heater left there instead not adequate and kept giving off flashes when it went on. New ones sent the next day when I said it was cold. Would Benefit from heating you can time to come on to be warm on waking and getting in. Disappointed you couldn’t do this with any radiator or control bedroom radiator temperature Missing pieces of crockery glasses and cutlery noted Settee uncomfortable and needs a more comfy foot rest than 1 cushion pouffe Water running down kitchen wall in the corner causing damp and mould problems Landing and 1 bedroom window unable to be opened. Door locks and keys rusty and need replacing Great location and views so despite issues noted had a great holiday

  The cottage was really lovely, in a great area, really cosy and it felt very homely to us. The terrace, although it only had a slight view of the sea, was lovely to sit at in the morning and was a real sun trap. The bedroom was cosy, and the kitchen was relatively well equipped. The showers were very small, but in such a small place it is the best available option. Unfortunately, despite general cleanliness, there were heaps of dog hairs around the whole cottage, especially in the bedroom. Although this was a slight annoyance to us, it would be far from ideal for somebody with an allergy. The cottage was very close to the harbour, with a maximum 5 minute walk to the furthest pub. Overall, we had a really lovely stay, and we would definitely return.

  Smugglers Cottage is a fab comfortable little cottage, ideal for two people, very peaceful location but within easy walking distance of various places to eat out, and seconds from the beach. We would definitely stay there again, we also loved that we could take our dog. The service provided by Above Beach Cottages was excellent; booking the cottage on line was very easy and hassle free and the information provided was spot on, we will certainly use them again. Porthleven has a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants and several are dog friendly which is a bonus. It's also on the coastal path and is ideal for walkers. We had a fab time even though the weather wasn't too kind to us!

  The cottage’s location was perfect and the property was ideal for two adults though small . However the double bed was very soft and uncomfortable and we could not sleep. To cope we purchased two air mattresses with one of us sleeping on the kitchen floor on the single air mattress whilst the other slept in the bed with cushions placed to support the body. This was far from ideal and unfortunately we had booked a fortnight so had to manage somehow. I would not recommend this property for this reason.
