What our customers say about their holidays

Very disappointed and decided to leave 4 days into a 7 day stay.
Expectations were high and after unpacking and the dogs enjoying the garden we spent time looking around the lodge. Cleanliness was a major disappointment. We needed to wash glasses, plates and work surfaces due to a later of grease on them. A frying pan found was worse. The mop for the kitchen was still outside next to the wheelie bin. The bathroom had a mouldy shower mat, radiator thick with grime and dust and shower rail rusty. The bathroom shelf was also of no use as not fitted correctly. Upon looking at the double bed the mattress was just open foam with a topper on it. Also woken up at 6am daily from dogs barking at the owners house. We were expecting peace and tranquility. Toaster didn't work properly and due to the remote location a larger fridge and a useable freezer would have helped. Several items of food left in cupboards which can be a bonus however use by dates of Dec 2021 and Aug 2022 wasn't something that should be in the cupboards. Garden was great for the dogs.

Rented this property to spend time with family so we were 6 adults sharing - having 3 ensuite bathrooms made this a suitable property for our group.
The barn is lovely and spacious, well equipped and within easy walking distance of the village. The property is very clean with quality bed linen and towels. There is a plentiful supply of hot water and heating is controlled by room though as summer visitors this wasnt needed. Although there is another barn on the site, the property is very private with a south facing furnished garden and enough parking for 3 cars The village pub (The Bell Inn) is within a ten minute walk and serves good quality pub grub with a very friendly atmosphere. We also dined at the Natterjack where the food was very good but a car is required as on a main road. There are many nice towns and villages nearby to explore and the barn had a collection of leaflets with recommendations for days out. My only critique would be the beds in the twin room which didnt seem suitable for adults - may need the mattresses replaced - but would be perfect for children.

This is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful location.
During the heat wave days (July 2022) it was especially good as it can be kept cool and shaded inside. We stayed with our dog, and had chosen this property because it was listed as taking pets. On arrival the owner explained they do not normally take dogs [in this let] but was happy for us to do so (she said Sykes had made a mix up). A few things which would have made this 5 stars for us rather than 4 on this review are that there was no microwave, even though this is in the description of facilities, and no kitchen knives - so self-catering was trickier than it needed to be. There was also a large bag of clothing items (? left behind by a former guest?) in the under stair cupboard. Overall this property fulfilled our needs and we enjoyed our stay at The End.

Loved our stay.
Loved the cottage & the walking books with dogs was a wonderful touch really helped to decide weâre to go. Due to isolation of location my only one thing I would have liked to be able to mark 5 out of 5 for facilities is if there was a bigger fridge & there was a freezer. We brought all our food and struggled to fit it all in. Others staying may eat out more & not need this facility. However we came beginning of March before the holiday season started and pubs etc had limited opening, most only opened a few days a week. The nearest supermarket is good hour round trip. The dogs loved the garden. The bed was very comfortable. The cottage was lovely and warm. The cottage is in a lovely quiet area. Pam the owner was lovely & helpful.

Despite the various listings on different websites, there is no microwave.
Parking is ample although it is over 100m from the cottage across very muddy uneven ground. It would not be very suitable for anyone with mobility issues. On arrival after a very long journey, there were no toilet rolls, hand soap or towels in the property. Our first job was to get back in the car and go shopping for toilet rolls and soap. Towels and bedding arrived later. We have never stayed in accommodation before that does not provide these essential basics. Possibly an oversight?? The freezer needed defrosting; impossible to open the drawers without damaging them. The controls for the bath/shower need attention from a plumber as it was very difficult to adjust the temperature. Other than that it was okay.
