What our customers say about their holidays

Only downside it was a bit of a pain transporting the luggage down to the lodge.
As it was down a gravel path of about a 100 meters. Luckily we had taken a collapsible trolley truck but still has to make 3 trips on arrival and departure. The complex has electric golf type trollies outside reception but presumably for booking made through Whitesand bay holiday park. Ours was privitaley owned but we were offered there luggage trolleys. The view from the Lodge patio deck was amazing looking over Plymouth sound and rolling hills. The only sounds we could hear came from sheep on the hillside, birds and the wind. It was quite breezy for all of our 5 night stay. But welcoming in the hot sunshine. We could not fault the lodge as it had everything one needed for a home away holiday. The owner catered for a pleasant stay with milk tea and coffee in the fridge and cupboards. The park facilities were good with a pub and restaurant. Although as it was early session the pub and restaurant closed at 20:30 during the week. We enjoyed a plentiful lovely Sunday lunch on the patio outside the restaurant. There was a pool opposite but didn't use on this occasion. There wasn't a shop on the park but don't know if there is one in high season. The nearest shop was a few miles away in Millbrook down narrow precarious country lanes. The nearest major supermarket was Sainsbury's in Torpoint about a 20 minute drive also down narrow lanes until you reached wider B roads. I did a major shop there the day after our arrival. So we had enough supplies for a few days. After a day out to Perrenporth we topped up at Tesco Extra in nearby Plymouth. We came back to Cornwall on the Torpoint ferry, not to be missed. There are some wonderful places to visit nearby like Cawsand and Kingsand villages next to each other with charming streets houses an little sandy bays. A visit to Mount Edgcumbe House and gardens is highly recommended. A walk down through the park takes you down to the shores of Plymouth Sound where you can watch the boats and ships sail in and out. Pont Avon departed to Santander while I was there. There's also a foot ferry from there across to Plymouth. An enchanting pub to the left of the lower entrance gates. I can't wait to go back to the lodge to explore beautiful Cornwall Futher!

Location on the site gives a magnificent view (weather permitting) out over Millbrook, the Tamar river and Plymouth in the distance, we were there in late December and most days woke to low cloud/mist.
The lodge was well presented and comfortable, living up to it's listing. Although we appreciated the thought behind the voucher for the Canteen at Marker Heights it was not used as we were too busy exploring the rest of Cornwall. It was disappointing to find the base of the microwave covered in crumbs. We were also surpised not to find a welcoming pack advising how things worked (never got to fathom out the thermoset programming but never went cold either), local health care, local eating establisments, places of interest, what to do at the end of the stay, etc. As mentioned by other reviewers parts are in need of some minor TLC, we found that the lever operated plugs in both vanity sinks were in need of some adjustment to get them to the open position, althought as this was probably the last booking of the year it is not surprising that a little bit of refurbisment is required. Taking Ollie for his morning walk, the trip all the way down to the beach and back would have been too much for his owner but if you start this trek, just below the Cliff Top cafe there is a small path off to the right which enables you to safely meander along the cliff face enabling views of the water and sand below before a short easy climb to the road which takes you back to the site. We had a good meal in the onsite pub/restaurant on the first night but then tended to eat out in Kingsand (The Halfway House Inn)/Cawsand (The Bay Bar & Restaurant), all 3 places were dog friendly which is essential to us. There are a lot of narrow twisty roads in the area so take it slowly as you might encounter a small herd of deer coming the other way as we did one morning. Would we book again - Yes.

The property was large so perfect for our annual family holiday however in comparison to other properties it left a lot to be desired.
There was an immediate damp / musky smell in the living spaces and bedroom cupboards, and the carpets werenât clean which was a concern as we had a toddler with us. When we arrived the house was basically empty save for a toilet roll in each bathroom and some hand towels. As the check in wasnât until 4pm we assumed (as seen in other properties) a small welcome package of a handful of tea bags / coffee and some milk but there was nothing. From experience, we have expected at least the bare essentials for the first night especially when some of the party were travelling +6 hours by car. We had to buy hand soap for every bathroom, milk, sugar, salt, pepper, tea towels, dishwasher tablets, washing machine pods, dish soap, anti bacterial cleaning spray, sponges, bin bags, and cling film. We werenât aware the garden was shared and felt overlooked by the people living in the attached / neighbouring property. However, the owners were nearby and helpful for anything that was needed which was handy and re-assuring, but definitely needed considering there was only one key available despite the booking being for 11 people. Finally, one of the houses locally had multiple dogs with almost constant barking and left dog mess frequently in the shared parking area which had to be cleaned up by our party. All of this took the shine from the holiday and we come to Cornwall every year but we wonât re-book this property which is a massive shame because it has the potential to be a beautiful holiday home / let.

A musky, stinky, tired and tacky Farmhouse with little to be desired but the grounds it is set in.
Ill equipped for disabled users due to 2 steps from the kitchen into the disabled bedroom, sitting room and living room (which are not detailed on the advert). The farmhouse is tired and in desperate need of updating. Marks on the walls, carpets and floors. An open grid in the downstairs bedroom made the room smell mouldy. Open cavities in the skirting boards which allowed frogs to visit. Carpets stained and grubby looking, beds old and uncomfortable. Sofas sagging and dirty. Floors unswept. Kitchen table was tacky to the touch. And made worse by the fact there was no cleaning products to maintain the property during our stay. Simple things like kitchen spray, bin bags, salt and pepper and oil were missing. WiFi wasnât very strong unless sat in the kitchen next to the router. Although physically close, the nearest shop was down a long and winding 60mph road with no footpaths. Which was dangerous with a disabled person and small children. The owners live directly opposite the property which we found intrusive. They have several large dogs which barked often. Overall very disappointing given the lack of cleanliness and lack of provision for disabled guests. We would not visit here again for free.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday in this very comfortable lodge.
It was very clean and homely and we loved siting on the decking looking at the view. There were just a couple of very small things: There were quite a few light bulbs that needed replacing including the outside lights and the smaller sofa was quite uncomfortable but none of this distracted from our stay. The location is great, very quiet especially off season, which we wanted. The site is well maintained and the pub was really welcoming, dog friendly and the food was exceptional. It is worth noting there is no shop anyway within walking distance and although there is a co op in Millbrook it is a single track road to get there or 20 mins drive the long way, so bring some basics if arriving late. The other thing I wish we had known was that although the beach is right opposite the site the walk down to it is very very steep so not easy to do quickly or too often if you have a dog who is beach mad and wants to go to it at least twice a day!! The slightly easier path is within the MOD firing range so not accessible all the time. All in all we would highly recommend.
