  The lightbulb over the sink still needs replacing.

  No spares were in the cottage. Also no replacement bin bags and the kitchen bin is miniscule. As people have already noted the carpets downstairs in particular could do with a good clean or replacing. Many items are tired. We had to thoroughly clean the teaspoons (and washed all cutlery as a result) as they were very teastained, as were the tea mugs - we felt like everything needed a good clean as a result of finding dirty items. There were no instructions for waste/recycling in the cottage and no local area visitor leaflets other than some walks. We located some recycling boxes in the laundry room but these were overflowing so we could not use them. Our neighbours staying in the farmhouse called either Sykes or owners to ask if they should put the dustbin out on bin day as it was full and could not be added to. Heating controls are in the laundry but there are no instructions regarding this. We only found out as neighbours in big cottage phoned Sykes as towels weren't drying etc without heating. Unsure if the owners are unable to keep up with it all or just not interested in the comfort of their guests. Which is a shame as the properties on the whole are in a lovely location and could be very comfortable and inviting with a little more care. We had a pleasant stay but it could have been better. Not the standards we expect from a Sykes property.

  As a disabled person it can be very difficult to find adapted property which also accept animals .

  This property does that which is brilliant. It's located in a great position for the North Yorkshire moors and coast . The property itself was very clean on arrival with cake and treats for the dogs which was very nice of the owners who are very accomadating and try to please . The only downside if you can call it that is that where you park your vehicle it has a gravel covering on the parking area and driveway which is a problem with anybody with a wheelchair as you get stuck . Gravel and wheelchairs don't mix!! . But there is a more than adequate path up the side of the cottages with easy access to the cottage with ramped access. All in all this is a very nice cottage with everything you will need for a stay which I will be visiting again and would recommend to anybody able bodied or with a disability .   A lovely cottage in an out of the way location.

  It has clearly been updated since the pictures online were taken. Good access to major routes to the coast and close enough to Helmsley to make eating out there possible. The facilities were really good and some unexpected extras ( milk, kitchen roll, tea and coffee) meant we could settle in straight away. We mainly used it as a base to explore the coast from and chose to eat out each night. But there were potsand pans etc available had we wanted to cook. The furniture was clean and comfortable enough for our needs. We stayed with 2 small dogs so it was great to have the little garden. We would definitely recommend and hope to return in the future.

  Comfortable and well equipped cottage.

  Unfortunately the water heater failed at the beginning of our stay (probably before we arrived) but was repaired the same day that we reported it so we were able to enjoy the excellent separate shower in the bathroom. Wombleton is a good base for Rievaulx Terrace and Abbey, Nunnington Hall and Helmsley, Pickering and Scarborough castles as well as the North York Moors Railway. There a handy circular walk past the pub and back down Page Lane for anyone with a dog (with 3 dog pooh bins). At dusk there are bats in Page Lane.

  The cottage was lovely, Tonia made us very welcome & was on hand regarding any questions or needing any help.

  Our two dogs loved having run of big garden, Tonia's dogs, Hettie & Bundle were forgiving when Bella stole their toys & Hari kept barking at them!. Two downsides, absolutely no internet access which I could have done with for local / general information, & poor mobile phone reception. Also cost of car parking in Helmsley which I know isn't Tonia's doing, charges apply even with a blue badge, that's down to Rydale council, but yes we would stay at Peg's cottage again , wish we could've brought it home with us!.
