What our customers say about their holidays

  • Sarah - Verified booking

The House was fantiastic with fantasitc views - which was as expected and as advertised.

We had a faboulous stay and hope to come back. I do have some constructive negative feedback though - which can easily be remedied! 1. There is no WiFi. This is not mentioned in the advertisement. I appreciate staying silent on something doesn't mean it's there, but in this day and age you should state that there is no WiFi as it's more unusual for it not to be present than otherwise. I have to work when on holiday often and of course this also means there is no ability to watch BBCiPlayer, NetFlix or anything other than live TV - making the lovely TV a waste of space for people who don't want to watch the rubbish you generally get live (sorry but it's true). I agree though the view also makes the TV almost redundant! 2. There was no welcome pack - I am not sure if this is normal but not providing such necessities as T Bags, coffee, sugar and milk is rather mean in my book; 3. The Hoover. I like to keep things tidy and clean when away - so I hoovered up mid week to find the hoover stank to high heaven - so much so that I needed to open all the windows and doors and stand outside for bit. It needs either a new filter or the existing filter needs to be washed occasionally! 4. The shower unit over the bath - the seal on the bottom of the shower door is BLACK. This is not acceptable nor is it excusable. I suggest you make sure this is replaced or at least soaked and cleaned regularly. 5. The door in the main bedroom is marked as 'not openable'. I wondered why this is the case? It's the only fire exit from that end of the house and I was not comfortable with that - non of the windows open to the extent a person could get out if they needed to. 6. Last bu not least - there was only one toilet roll in each bathroom for a potential family of 5. i also think not providing a few psare is also pretty mean - we had to go out and buy more including tea and coffee and ended up having to bring it all back with us. Look this is a faboulous property and we'd like to go back again and make it a regular visiting hideout - but I hope you understand that these comments are very annoyting and could easily be fixed. I completely understand if the owners don't want to include WiFit becuase of some particular reason - but if this is the case then please say so in the advertisement.

On arrival the cottage was spotlessly clean.

Small welcome cleaning pack provided (dishwasher tablets, sponge, bin bag). Steps down to property one slab broken and one wobbly so be careful. Street is unlit and outside light doesn’t pick you up until half way down steps so take a torch (one provided in cottage). Living room would benefit from another sofa or chair (one sofa and one tub chair really isn’t enough for four adults visiting unless you all want to be sat on top of one another). Some damp under window which needs addressing. Wooden floor. No logs supplied for wood burner. Kitchen is large and well stocked with everything you could need. Little extras like salt, washing up liquid etc are provided. Tiled floor which means cold feet. Beds are super comfy and both are super king sized. Bathrooms are well thought out and Mira showers to both which are wonderfully powerful. Hive heating so you can program to suit yourself/weather conditions. However, please note that all windows are single glazed sash windows which means in winter they are very draughty and both front and back doors are wooden and single glazed so again very draughty. (Draught excluders for the doors would be a welcome benefit as feet were cold when downstairs and possibly thermal door curtains). We were unlucky with the weather (coldest week in uk of the year) so left early as was struggling with keeping cottage warm downstairs and also building work was taking place directly opposite cottage which meant an early wake up call by builders and mini digger most mornings (Lakelovers/Sykes notified by us and photos sent). The cottage is lovely for a summers holiday. Its location is ideal. You can cut down through the pedestrian part of the road to the Angel Inn in minutes. No outdoor furniture? Too cold anyway but not there should you have wanted to sit outside with your dog. Main garden isn’t totally dog friendly, they can get into next door and mine is no escape artist so they need watching. Parking is great, space is compact but perfectly adequate. We found it better to reverse in so you can drive out. Would we return to Oak cottage? in the summer without hesitation but it the winter months unfortunately not. Downstairs is just too cold and draughty.

We loved Primrose Mount and would definitely book again.

The lounge and views were fantastic, we enjoyed looking out of those so windows so much. Hard to leave that view! All positive, thank you. Just two comments that I hope you’ll find constructive and may help future visitors. Outside seating; You may well have plans to provide 5 chairs for the out door seating area (not the deck, that already has 5) in the summer. However, just having 2 chairs was a bit disappointing and made it look a bit uncared for. So, we weren’t all able to sit out together. I suggest, if not already planned for, that that is provided. Bedding; We found the duvets quite thin and were cold, particularly on the first night. Although there were two blankets, they weren’t too warm and I think 3 would be nice, for each bed. We did buy a blanket in Bowness. I know it’s a very person thing and you can’t please all the people but I think this may be worth looking at. Having said that, everything else provided, especially in the kitchen, was very thoughtful and appreciated. The house was also very clean. We had a great stay and have already recommended the house to family and a couple of friends. We look forward to another stay. Thank you. Ps the binoculars were a lovely thought but you may not know they are broken. Only mentioning as may not have been reported.

WE HAVE PREVIOUSLY STAYED AT JESSICAS COTTAGE AND REALLY ENJOYED OUR STAY BUT I THINK THIS TIME THE PLACE WASN'T AS CLEAN AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AND I THINK THE OWNERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS AS THEY ARE PAYING SOMEONE TO CLEAN THE PLACE ON THEIR BEHALF.

WHEN WE LEFT I SWEPT UNDER THE SOFA AND IT WAS OBVIOUS IT HADN'T BEEN SWEPT IN A WHILE. I BRUSHED UNDER THE CUSHIONS ON THE SOFA AND IT WAS FULL OF CRUMBS AND HAIRS SO HADN'T BEEN DONE IN A WHILE EITHER. THE BATH PLUGHOLE WAS DISGUSTINGLY FULL OF HAIRS AND THICK SLIME FROM AGES BEFORE WHICH I PULLED OUT AND DISPOSED OF. THE LIGHT FITTING IN THE LOUNGE IS VERY DUSTY. THERE ARE LUMPS OF DUSTY FLUFF COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE RADIATOR IN THE MAIN BEDROOM. THE GARDENER CAME AND HE HALF FILLED THE BIN WITH HIS GARDEN WASTE WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO USE THE BIN FOR OUR TWO WEEK STAY. THE BED LINEN AND TOWELS WERE NOT CHANGED AFTER ONE WEEK AND NO ONE OFFERED FOR A CHANGE WHICH I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN. THE VAC SMELLED DISGUSTING AND DIDN'T PICK UP WHICH I ASSUMED IT WAS FULL AND I WASN'T GOING TO EMPTY IT SO I BRUSHED THE CARPETS UPSTAIRS AND ON THE STAIRS. WE HAVE A SELF CATERING PROPERTY IN CORNWALL WHICH WE CLEAN AND SERVICE OURSELVES SO I UNDERSTAND THERE CAN BE ISSUES FROM TIME TO TIME BUT I WAS DISAPPOINTED IN THE CLEANLINESS OF THE PLACE THIS TIME. HAVING SAID THAT WE LOVE JESSICAS COTTAGE AND WILL HOPE TO RETURN FOR ANOTHER LOVELY HOLIDAY IN THE FUTURE. HEATHER ACORNLEY

    Let’s start with THAT VIEW!

What a place to wake up every morning. Utterly stunning. The cottage is so private as well, considering it’s a short stroll to town. The cottage is clean, comfortable and well equipped, the kitchen has pretty much everything you need and the shower nice and powerful. The gardens are really well maintained. However, it could clearly do with some investment as it is looking tired. The owner is obviously waiting for planning to be approved so isn’t investing in the current cottage which is a shame but I guess understandable. I do feel there are a few things that wouldn’t cost the earth that could be done - the garden furniture is getting tired and, as a previous reviewer mentioned but it hasn’t been sorted, old broken furniture has been left under the decking instead of being removed. The property smells a bit musty so would benefit from a really deep clean and some air fresheners. The DAB radio has a mind of its own and could do with replacing. A few of the window catches are getting worn. BUT saying all that…the view is stunning and value for money wise it’s SO worth it. I wish it wasn’t being knocked down as it’s probably one of the best views in Bowness!
