  On the whole, our experience in Almond Cottage was extremely enjoyable and we would have liked to stay longer. The location is one of our favourite areas, and the natural beauty of the coastline, the characteristic towns and villages were all enhanced by fortunate good weather. However, we feel it would be helpful to you, in bringing to your attention these health and safety issues we found, regarding the set up of the apartment: -Steps up to the entrance were steep and too short in length and there was no handrail to support access. -No grabrail in the shower cubical. -TV was mounted over electric sockets so that plugging and unplugging devices often caused us to bump our heads on the TV as we stood up. -The fire exit was locked with no key and with no other means of escape. (Windows did not open wide enough to allow normal sized adults to escape). - Fire extinguishing appliances were not mounted for easy access and were placed on the floor in corners, and behind a door. The fire blanket was also not mounted and it would have been difficult to pull the tapes to release it during an emergency. - The glass top of the dining room table had sharp corners that should have had corner protectors in place. - Finally, we felt that the type of microwave oven chosen for use was overly complicated to operate in a relaxes holiday situation. A simpler version would have been better. (The electric oven and hob were excellent and much easier to use). Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Beadnell very much, and it has in no way deterred us from booking with Original Cottages in the future - in fact, I've already started to look for one of your cottages for a holiday in September!

  The owners have made a very good job of creating a comfortable, well equipped, bright, contemporary style apartment from a former fisherman's cottage. This one benefits from a good end of terrace position on the upper level and a small balcony to sit out on overlooking Seahouses harbour and The Farne Isles in the distance. (The view from the living room is equally very good and can be improved with the binoculars provided!). Despite the central location we had no issues with parking on-street below the property during our stay. Ensuite has spacious walk-in shower with rainfall and wall mounted options. Good facilities to self-cater if that's what you're looking for and Co-Op is nearby for supplies. (Only an ice-box in the fridge so no option to stock up a freezer). Of the eating out options within walking distance we liked The Black Swan Inn (albeit quite pricey) and Insieme Restaurant. Plenty of others within driving distance when exploring the surrounding area. We had forgotten how tight for space it is in a double bed and early morning sunlight flooded the bedroom so we didn't sleep particularly well (despite there being surprisingly no noise issues for a central, seafront location). With a king-sized bed and black-out curtains it would have been pretty much ideal, but we still enjoyed our week-long stay in this very nice apartment in a very scenic and interesting part of the country. Oh, and a Farne Island trip with "Serenity" is well worth the time and money.

  We had a wonderful week here with our 2 young children and our dog. The location is brilliant, handy to have cafes, pubs and the co-op within a minutes walk. Apartment was clean with all the basics. The only thing we missed was a washing machine but we used a local laundy service during our stay which was a 5 minute drive away. The car park is very close by and it was handy to have the parking permit as we could use it in other carparks in Northumberland too. There were a few bits and bobs around the apartment that require fixing (broken headboard on one of the beds, loose skirting board trim) but I have detailed these seperately and we reported it to the office downstairs. Overall a good apartment. I would stay again.

  A lovely, clean, comfortable apartment, beautifully situated. The parking permit was very useful. The welcome pack was a nice touch. All the staff I met were pleasant and helpful. A few things could have been better: we would have liked a measuring jug and a casserole dish (there were lots of glasses, mugs, plates and dishes, but fewer more basic things; there was a brush, but no dust pan; I had to empty the Hoover as it was clogged; instructions for electrical equipment were either missing or in various foreign languages). The position of the apartment was even better than the info led us to believe. We really enjoyed our week, thank you, and hope we left the apartment clean and tidy. Thanks again.

  This is a nice modern apartment in a lovely village in a great position on the coast. We have previously stayed in another apartment in the same development. Negatives are : available times on change over day are not user friendly: can’t get in till 17.00 on the Saturday but have to be out by 9.00 made this a stressful time as it really takes out the day Secondly I was personally annoyed that despite an early exit on the Saturday, we we’re still asked to strip the bed due to “Covid “ which quite honestly is ridiculous now and feels like saving them time. In conclusion though it is a nice comfortable apartment which I would recommend if they address the niggles above
