What our customers say about their holidays

We have 2 comments to make.
The photograph of the stairs is blatantly mis-leading. You can see a hand-rail on the stairs but it does not show the steep turn at the top of the stairs (where there is no hand-rail). This caused a real problem as my wife is slightly disabled and she found coping with the situation extremely distressing. The unsuitability of the stairs for those with any infirmity should be made clear on the web-site. A note on this point was left in the cottage for the owner. Also, when we arrived I phoned the owner to clarify the wi-fi situation. I was told there was no w-fi facility. This confused me as we would not have booked otherwise (as I told the owner). I assumed I had made a mistake but on returning home I looked again at the description on the web-site and it clearly states that wi-fi is available! We have been misled and are very disappointed. The question below asks whether we want this feedback published. In the circumstances it would be more appropriate if you gave the owner the opportunity to consider the position.

Fabulous property in a lovely village.
Really comfortable for a small family and the kitchen/dining room is delightful. Garden is smaller than it looks in the pictures but will lots of greenery and footpaths nearby that's not an issue. Village pub is in walking distance (dog friendly too) and is community run, friendly and welcoming. The beers rotate often and the food is good quality pub fare. Close to Leyburn for any shopping needs, Aysgarth for walks and only 20mins into Swaledale for even more walking and cycling routes. Absolutely ideal cottage for us and we'll be back. Might be worth adding some extra notes on recycling to the welcome folder as previous visitors had put everything out together mixed up and the bin men refused to take it. We did our best to sort it in to types for next time and took our own to a recycling point as it was full. Absolutely didn't impact our holiday just might be an idea to prevent it happening again.

We loved the cottage.
It was absolutely great and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was decent quality. The kitchen and dining area are fantastic and well-equipped. There were a couple of things that could be improved- There were some light bulbs in the kitchen that needed replacing, so the area wasnât quite as well-lit as it could be. The fire had not been cleaned from its last use and there was no âstarter packâ for us to make a fire, although it was advertised in the listing. We were not cold, as the central heating was great. We therefore didnât need to go out shopping for fuel. However, if this had been provided as advertised, we would have enjoyed the novelty. These two things are minor and could be remedied very easily. They did not detract from a lovely stay in a fantastic house. We will definitely be back.

We had some difficulty with both doors.
The back door, or at least the lock, really needs to be changed, as everyone in the guest book has commented. Itâs really stressful trying to lock it, even with the âknackâ advised in the welcome booklet. Only one of our family could ever manage it. One day we thought we were locked out as the key box at the front door was stuck even though combination was correct. Took about 20 minutes to get it open (in the rain) so we never used it for the rest of the week and took the key with us. Property is comfortable and clean and tea/coffee/biscuits/milk was very much appreciated after a long journey. Kitchen is quite well equipped although we did have to purchase a casserole dish. Garden is not secure - be aware of the large gap under the gate if youâre bringing a small/medium dog.

We had a wonderful return stay at Middle Cottage.
We love this cottage, tucked away in a quiet location off the Main Street but so close to the village pubs, shop and fish and chip shop! The cottage is very clean and so well equipped ; everything has been carefully thought about to make it a very special place to stay . We love the location and being able to walk from the village on numerous walks along the river Cover in all directions without having to drive is extra special. The village of Leyburn is a few miles across the river Ure which has more amenities. Middleham is an interesting village for historians due to its castle and it is wonderful to see the race horses going through the village every morning on the way to the gallops. We would definitely love to return again to Middle Cottage.
