What our customers say about their holidays

We had an excellent stay at Mabel's View.
However, the initial information given by Sykes Cottages is that it is a detached barn conversion whereas it is, in fact, attached to the owner's own property - this information is given in the finer details, and caused no problems as John was extremely welcoming and helpful. The property is fine for two people but we would consider it would be very cramped with any more. If one needed to pull the dining table out to seat more than two people one would not be able to move around the kitchen dining space with any ease. The property was in excellent condition and the beds were extremely comfortable. The shower would benefit from having a grab rail fitted for safety's sake and more serving dishes of various sizes would have been useful for catering purposes. The cottage is extremely isolated so very peaceful but travelling along the narrow Devon lanes is quite a challenge! It is advisable therefore to take as many provisions as one can as getting even to East Allington is not a 'simple trip down the road'. The ability to use an Ordnance Survey would be advantageous (there was one in the cottage)! We would thoroughly recommend Mabel's View for those who want peace, tranquility and a gentle-paced holiday.

The cabin is compact but very comfortable with some nice touches.
Nice bottle of wine left by the owners and shampoo/conditioner and liquid soap in the bathroom, plus dog treats and chocolate biscuits. It has all the facilities required such as small oven, microwave and toaster. The bed is comfy, It is a slight trek down to the cabin around another property and over two lawns with stones on to make getting to it easier. Also to get to town, you can go down another field, through a gate and you need to grab onto some rope to get to the path. I thought this quite exciting like an Enid Blyton book. The cabin is not for the infirm. This is made clear in the description. It is definitely like being cut off from the world and I would return. Views are amazing. There are binoculars at the property. The owners made contact a couple of times to make sure everything was ok. Not much power in the shower. Also pack light as there isnât much storage space for belongings. We were lucky with the weather and itâs nice to sit out on the deck.

Well what can I say.
This caravan is a the top of the park and is on the steepest roadway I have seen. Totally unsuitable for the elderly or families with small children. The gas was empty so having spoken to the owner I was directed to get the site maintenance to check it out. They did so and replaced the gas bottles. I also asked them to look at the TV in the living room that wasnât picking up the sat channels and they couldnât fathom out the problem. The owner said that I must have been pressing the wrong buttons. I think there were other issues that she is not owning up to. The caravan is a bit small. Ok for a you family I suppose but no good for us. The Wi-Fi was chargeable from the site, not mentioned in the Ad. About £6 a day for anything usable. There was a good power shower and the decking was fully enclosed so safe for our small dog. All in All, for us a total waist of money. We left after one night and the owner blamed us for our concerns.

From the moment we arrived at Firefly Cabin, we knew we had discovered a true gem. Nestled in the heart of rolling hills in the Devon countryside it captures the essence of tranquility and an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. One of the highlights of our stay was the outdoor experience. The fire pit, set under a canopy of stars, provided the perfect setting for our evening gatherings. We spent countless hours sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and basking in the glow of the crackling fire. It was a magical way to unwind and connect with each other. The hot tub, however, was the crown jewel. Soaking in the warm, bubbling waters while listening to the gentle sounds of nature was pure bliss. It was an unforgettable experience that left us feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hide Out.
Nick and Donna were friendly and helpful but also left us to ourselves. Itâs lovely inside and beautifully decorated. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. Everything is very comfortable especially the bed and the chairs. The garden is also very pretty and there are lots of comfortable places to sit, including a lovely hammock, and admire the views which are spectacular. Our only reservation is the steps to to the hideout, although safe are a bit steep for anyone with mobility issues. We are in our mid seventies and my husband had a hip replacement recently so we found this a bit of a challenge. We managed though and our daughter and grandchildren had no problem. It is walkable to Totnes town centre on the road and there is a steep path down for the fit and agile.
