What our customers say about their holidays

Secluded Cot Valley Cottage is so relaxing with everything you needed.
A generous hamper on arrival to help you on your way. The dining table was already laid for a meal with napkins, haven't had that before. A cosy private little garden to be able to while away the time with a book and cuppa listening to the babbling stream and rustle of Gunnera leaves.. Everything was beautifully clean, the bed was gorgeously comfy, the bathrobes just what the doctor ordered after a long day and good hot shower. The kitchen had everything one needed. Bed linen and towels were changed after the first week. Two sets of sliding doors opened the lounge and bedroom onto the patio area. As for parking, we have a VW Tiguan parking tight to the property wall posed no problem. Wasn't worried about anyone using the space and nobody did. A wonderful base for a 2 week Cornish holiday whatever you wanted to do. Ours included SW Coast Path walking (only half a mile down to Porth Nanven) bus trips on the No 17 and Coaster from St Just to St Ives and Penzance, The Minack Theatre, Sennen beach, Tregwainton Gardens and St Just annual Lafrowda Festival 2024. After all the rushing about you can come back to Cot Valley Cottage and relax to the sound of peace and quiet. Just short of a mile up the road to St Just, easily walked after a little steep section, a great place for a few shops, cafes, a good stocked Co-Op, Gallery, art and craft shops. Evening meals. We ate at The Commercial four times. Each time we encountered friendly staff and ate tasty hot gorgeous food. We never used the car up to St Just, just walked there and back even after evening meals, easy peasy. Alex introduced herself on arrival and was so friendly throughout our stay meeting her a couple of times. She was close by and a text away if we needed her. She leant us two small seats to use at The Minack and quickly fixed an issue with the hot water. What more can you ask for. Overall, Cot Valley Cottage is a beautiful property and wonderful, peaceful quiet location from which to sit and relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and make plans to explore the great county of Cornwall. Thank you Alex and Alec for your kindness and hospitality.

Great cottage for exploring this corner of Cornwall with everything it has to offer from historic mines to amazing scenery and far more than we managed to see in one visit. An extended original "miner's cottage" there was a great connection to the past we wanted to investigate in the area. Great food at the local Trewellard Arms and at Geevor Mine among many other locations. For those wanting to explore the mining heritage, having three major mines practically on the doorstep, and within walking distance if you try a bit, is great and you can watch sunsets over the mine heads and stacks from the cottage. Visitors with dogs may want to be careful of the local cats who like to sun on the courtyard wall, but cat lovers will need to avoid adopting the bravest who will try to come in if you leave the back door open. Maybe not great if you have a large car, but them most roads around that part of Cornwall are better suited to small cars anyway. The road outside can get you fretting about getting in and out unless you are confident getting in and out of a fairly blind turn into a narrow road or turning the car within the shared parking area. Don't see that as an issue with the cottage though, it's the nature of Cornwall and a world which remains much unchanged since before cards existed - take the chance to live a different life for a while.

Cot Valley Cottage is a perfect place for exploring the beautiful coast on foot around Land's End.
No need for the car; a footpath just outside the cottage leads to the Coastal Path. Alternatively a short walk to St Just gives access to an excellent hop on hop off bus service that runs around the peninsular from St Ives to Penzance. The cottage itself is in a delightful quiet location with two sets of patio doors leading directly onto a private sunny patio set besides a babbling brook. There is a car parking space next to the cottage. Inside, the cottage is modern, comfortable, warm and cosy. It is very well equipped and has been very tastefully decorated and furnished. The modern kitchen has everything that you would expect to find, likewise the modern bathroom. The owners provided a very generous and thoughtful welcome pack to start your stay; they live close by if you need them but they respect your privacy. To summarise, Cot Valley Cottage is as good as they come and we have visited many excellent Sykes cottages in great locations. John and Linda April 2023

We really enjoyed staying at Cot Valley Cottage.
It is perfectly situated for anyone who wants to leave the car parked for a week and wants to walk the South West Coastal Path. St Just is only a 15 minute walk up the lane (past the Llamas) for all your grocery needs. There is also a very good chippy in the square. The cottage is extremely well designed, beautifully furnished and has everything you need. Alex and Alec gave us a very warm welcome. They are very thoughtful and genuinely want you to have a good stay. The sea and one of the best sunsets in the country is only a 10 minute walk down the unspoilt Cot Valley. The area has lots of wildlife especially Cornish Choughs, Kestrels and buzzards. If you are lucky you can see the bats as you walk back up the valley after sunset. We spent a week here and really enjoyed it and would not hesitate to go back.

Cot Valley cottage is an exceptional, secluded, modern property set in the heart of a beautiful, idyllic, valley a short walk from the coast with nearby access to the South West coastal path.
To say that this cottage is situated in paradise is no exaggeration. When sitting outside there is the calming sound of the nearby stream running along side the patio through the valley leading to the sea. The sound of bird song and nature is bountiful. The inside of the cottage is stunningly decorated with a high quality kitchen, bathroom and furnishings throughout the cottage. The owner Alex was lovely, very helpful and provided an excellent supply of equipment for our self catering stay. A wonderful welcome hamper was much appreciated. We cannot rate this cottage highly enough and it has to be the best self catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. It is set in a dream location, only a five minute walk to the sea and conveniently located for a lovely twenty minute walk into St Just.
