What our customers say about their holidays
Mr & Mrs Zoe And Clinton Manhood And Banbury - Verified booking
I only gave equipment 3 and not a 4 because I felt a few small items were missing such as hand soap both downstairs in the kitchen and upstairs. There is no hand basin in the toilet, though I understand the preference for a washing machine instead of a hand basin (washing machine was very useful) but liquid sanitiser in the toilet would have been useful. Foil would have been useful as is not the sort of thing you think of bringing and more tea towels. also hooks in the bathroom and bedroom doors that are not the stick on variety as they just fall off with the slightest of weight. also the tv remotes really need checking every time as they had a real problem, maybe the batteries. time and time again this is a problem in rental properties as they are never thought to be checked properly. Comfort, generally very comfy, especially the bed which was wonderful. It was also lovely and warm, too warm in fact so we kept turning it off. a good size kitchen lounge and bedrooms too. The settee though was not very comfy for us. Generally we loved the cottage very much, especially the view and the proximity to the beach. I have stayed in Perran most years for 40 years. During childhood I stayed in 'Sunnyside' but now we have a dog and they do not take dogs and it is very expencive so I was very pleased to find 4 Withey cottage with a secure garden for our little dog. Please do not change the garden to AstroTurf monstrosity as that is no good for dogs, wildlife, or children's bare feet as it getting burning hot in the sun and just does not look like the Cornish countryside and a suitable foreground to the fields and sea view.

Ner Sea is a lovely comfortable, and thoughtfully planned cottage.
It has a sea view, which we absolutely loved, and to be honest weren't expecting, so it was a wonderful surprise. We were so impressed with the view, we decided to go and buy some binoculars, and believe it or not, we found a suitable pair in the Charity Shop in Marazion. The wood burner was one of the main reasons that we decided on this cottage, together with the fact that logs are supplied in the rent. We were not disappointed. The log store was very well stocked, which came in very handy, as the weather was pretty dreadful for the 2 weeks we were there. Fog, hale, snow, sleet, rain and wind were all experienced in the fortnight that we were in Cornwall. However, this charming cosy cottage, meant that on days that were too awful to venture very far, we could spend a wonderful time indoors, just "chilling". Jenny, the housekeeper is wonderful, and looked after us very well. It is great having her so nearby, in the case of problems. Not that we experienced any during our stay. The small electric heaters supplied, were also a lovely touch, as it helped warm the bedroom/landing up nicely. The position of this cottage is truly wonderful, and everything is easily accessible by car. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this cottage for a lovely romantic break. It is quiet, well appointed, and the bed is very comfortable. We look forward to returning as soon as we can.

The cottage is situated in beautiful Marazion and is within easy reach of all the places we wished to explore.
The views from the bedroom, overlooking St Michaels Mount are particularly lovely. The cottage itself was perfect for us, it was tastefully furnished, warm and comfortable and a high standard of cleanliness was apparent. Everything you may need for a self catering holiday was provided for and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, biscuit treats, tea, coffee and sugar and fresh milk. The WiFi was great. There was an instruction booklet for all appliances which was useful. Jenny the housekeeper lives a few doors away, she is very friendly and gave us some great tips on places to visit. We would have loved to have lit the wood burner to enjoy that romantic feel to the cottage on our evenings in but the nights were just too warm. Whilst the inside of the cottage was lovely, it is fair to say that the 4 levels to the garden area need some attention in order for couples to really enjoy the experience of sitting out during the good weather if they so wish. The car parking space to the rear of the property is narrow, but it is not the size of the space that gave us a problem but the poor quality and unevenness of it, with a low down car this became quite stressful in trying to get into the road without scraping the car valance. There is no alternative parking anywhere in Marazion.

We have stayed at this property a number of times over the past couple of years, we have noticed a general decline in standards this year. The house needs a good refurb and painting, the paintwork is dirty especially downstairs, although the house is generally clean, the beds, bedding and towels were fine. There seems to be a general lack of attention to detail, there's not a set of six of any type of glass or cup, only 2 wine glasses and one beer glass!!, the house is meant to sleep six!!. The mattress on the double bed in the front bedroom is very uncomfortable it needs replacing, one of the patio chairs is broken and was just left propped up against the wall, the garden front and back look generally unkept, the grass was cut this time but was so long in April we couldn't use the garden. We have loved staying here but the house needs some work done on it to keep it up with the standards of other properties for the same price. The positives are the house is in a lovely village with the beach, pub and two cafes on your doorstep.

The cottage is well located and is only a short walk to the beach and SW coast path. The local pub was friendly and served good quality food. Across the road from the cottage was an excellent cafe. The cottage was clean. There were some things that were not so great. The garden was overgrown and untidy, which is a real shame as the cottage has a great view and was one of the reasons we booked, but this impacted enjoyment of sitting out. The cottage has been well loved (which is fine) but some items of furniture need replacing - the double mattress in the front bedroom was thin and uncomfortable, one of the patio chairs has a broken seat and needs repairing/ replacing. For 6 people, the cottage also needs more usable glasses/ cups - one pint glass and 2 wine glasses is not enough. Overall, it was OK because of the location but I probably wouldn’t stay in this particular cottage again unless they resolve some of the issues mentioned above.
