What our customers say about their holidays

Immaculately maintained, tiny characterful property.
The Old Stable had everything we needed for a comfortable week away, although I would not think a longer stay would be practicable owing to the basic cooking facilities (a portable two ring electric hob and microwave) and just a tumble drier meaning handwashing lighter items of clothing, finding a laundrette or bringing lots of stuff. We appreciated the good quality tea, coffee bags and biscuits which are the hallmark of a thoughtful and welcoming host. Towels and tea towels are provided but bring your own beach towels. The bed on its little gallery is comfortable but we found moving the rolling steps to and fro in order to cook then wash up a bit of a faff, be aware they are quite heavy with steel handrails and glass panels. We knew about this arrangement, and it wouldn't put us off staying here again. No outside space of course, which we also knew about, but the quiet beach is adjacent and is one of our favourites on the Lizard. The Five Pilchards pub, which in the past has done good pub food, has closed down and is for sale but we had a great meal at the beach café next door. I know people rave about the Fat Apples café just up the lane but every time we went past we had just missed it being open. It shuts promptly at 5 pm. Our dog enjoyed staying here and we were glad she couldn't get up the steep steps and attempt to climb onto the bed to find us, which she sometimes does in an unfamiliar house. She had to stay in her own dog bed. She knew where we were and could see us so she was content. This was a definite plus for us.

For two people, the cottage is functional, cosy and proved a good base for seeing the area, with good off road car parking.
The bed is comfortable and the kitchen had a good selection of crockery and cutlery. The welcome tray was also a very nice touch. We believe the cottage would benefit having clear instructions being left, for example what to do with recycling and linen. The main downside was the check in and check out times. We appreciate that in the current climate more time may be required to conduct a thorough clean between stays, however we found a check out by 9am was very early (too early) and it would benefit future guests if this was extended to 10am or preferably 11am, still leaving considerable time as you canât check in before 6pm on arrival. Itâs a shame that the local pub has closed as this would have helped improve our stay by giving options closer to home and in walking distance. We are also conscious that we were lucky that schools werenât in during our stay as the cottage backs onto a playing field, during term times this could impact privacy due to noise (although we did not have this experience).

Recycling options IN the flat would be preferable.
The heating was an issue. As in, we couldnât turn it off completely and the flat was BOILING when we arrived. And never were able to turn it off to zero during our stay in July. On the up side, we loved the complimentary beer, popcorn and shower gels/soaps. The flat was tidy and fairly clean. Duvets were too much given the central heating options.. so sheets would be good too. No views whatsoever out of the windows, which were filthy but clearly difficult to access and so clean. (Seagull and Pidgeon poo) Advice on how steep the staircase is would be a good heads up too. I have cancer and the stairs were a struggle. Super Steeper than the norm.. but I managed ish. Thank you for the teas and coffee sachets.. All in all in served itâs purpose. And for that we are thankful. TVs in each room was a blessing too. Thank you

A beautiful little gem of a property to stay in Porthleven, Cornwall, with stunning views across the harbour.
Ideal location to use as a base to explore, with a must visit to the Twisted Currant, especially for their cream teas and The Deli, especially for their pizzas. Exceptionally clean, very warm, with underfloor heating and preset heating. Would have been nice to have had some instructions to be able to adjust the temperature as it did feel slightly chilly on occasions. Also, no instruction to utilise the Quooker, however didn't prove to be too much of a problem. Wonderfully comfortable bed and beautiful bedding in the main bedroom and some super decorative touches. Settees in the living room were not designed to spend too long a period of time on as felt a little hard on the back. All in all, a lovely place to stay.

We went for the second two weeks in January 24.
Looked for a place with gas central heating (controllable and clean, as opposed to wood burners or storage heaters), a good price and location. We were not disappointed. The property was warm when we arrived. The whole property was bright spacious and clean. The bedroom upstairs was large with a big comfortable bed. The open plan downstairs was perfect with a good TV. The shower was excellent. The property had everything we needed. We are in our 70's and there was no problem with the stairs. Nice quiet location from which to access all of west Cornwall, north and south.. Good for a summer or winter visit..
