  We have stayed in a lot of cottages over the years.

  I’d like to start with positive. The cottage is very well positioned for exploring beautiful Boscastle and the bedrooms were lovely with extremely comfortable beds. We were a little disappointed by the level of maintenance, cleanliness and lack of attention to detail at Pencliffe in general. There were a lot of cobwebs and dust downstairs. The lamp shade over the stairs has come apart. There were no oven gloves, the tea towels were damp and stained. The kitchen in general was not very clean - the cooker top was greasy and the sink very stained and there were crumbs on the counters, the kick board by the cooker doesn’t stay on because the clip is broken and the pedal on the bin doesn’t work. The sink in the bathroom continuously leaked and we had to keep kitchen paper under the pipe. I suspect that the cottage is struggling with damp downstairs largely due to the lack of light and close proximity to the cliffs. I appreciate that this is a difficult problem to solve. We were very cold on our first night in the cottage but there was no wood for the fire. This is a shame as the cottage was advertised as logs being provided. We just felt like the property would benefit from a really good clean downstairs and a little more attention to detail and maybe a review of how it is listed because it wasn’t quite what we expected. We are really not complainers at all and intend this review to be informative rather than viewed as negative.

  This cottage does an incredible job of feeling spacious and cosy at the same time.

  .. we found it to be a very well equipped, nicely presented, clean, warm and flexible living space with lots of options on bedrooms.The newly refurbished ground floor bathroom was impressive & spacious (great towels) and the central heating was more than sufficient to heat the large cottage. Any instructions were clear & easy to follow. It also has a very reliable & easy to navigate tv system - which is a rare find in a holiday let! Sadly the weather wasn't on our side so we didn't get a chance to use the garden - and so can't comment on the facilities there, but to the eye there was more than enough space to have held numerous children, or adults, running a mock in the summer to enjoy the lawns & seaviews. A welcome pack greeted us on our first day - the caretaker visited the property within 30 minutes of us calling with a query - and the owner called us every day to ensure that everything was ok with our stay. Close enough to visit Tintagel, Boscastle, Bude, Padstow & Newquay by car. Loads of kids' activities, farms and playparks close by too. We certainly had some challenging weather during our stay but we loved the cottage and would definitely recommend it.

  Beautiful house and the sea view and sunsets are breathtaking.

  The house has lots of space for all nine of us and the children enjoyed there own little space in the snug which had various children's games and books.The house has everything you need for a large family including a lovely downstairs bathroom with a lovely deep bath and a brilliant shower and another bathroom upstairs with a bath all in all the house has plenty of room and is very well equipped We enjoyed various coastal walks and beach trips all within an easy car trip .All I can really suggest is maybe a light for evenings in the garden as the weather was glorious and we would of loved to of stayed outside a bit longer but that is all I can suggest about this beautiful house we had an amazing family holiday here and will be back to explore more of this gorgeous part of Cornwall. We also had a lovely phone call from the owner checking we had everything we needed and gave us lots of information on local attractions which was very helpful and a nice touch a great time was had by all .

  A very comfortable large property that suited our family of 5 adults very well. Spacious house, beautiful garden and lovely beds/linen. A steep walk back up the hill from Boscastle but works off all the lovely food & drink! Parking is very helpful but slightly tricky (we had an estate car) Road outside meant to be 20mph but was much quicker than this not an issue with older kids/adults. Great neighbour, very helpful regarding local area/beaches/tide times etc as no information left in property or a guest book to get recommendations. No welcome pack (milk/tea/coffee etc) handwash, or cleaning products provided. Beautiful area, loved Boscastle; the harbour, SW path walks and surrounding area. Farm shop great and The Good Stuff cafe fab. A few personal touches would make this an outstanding property.

  This is a lovely cosy cottage in a superb location just 2 minutes from the harbour in Boscastle, right in the heart of the historic village but also quiet, being round the corner from the main tourist thoroughfare.

  There is no garden but there is a patio out the front with comfortable furniture and it's a lovely sun trap in the mornings. The cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortably furnished with lots of character and thoughtful touches. There is a well stocked Spar shop two minutes away in the village. The Wellington Hotel is just across the road and we had a lovely meal there. There are other pubs, cafes and a chip shop in the village. There are loads of beautiful coastal and countryside walks accessible from the cottage without having to drive anywhere. We also visited 5 different beaches nearby, the nearest being only a ten minute drive. We would definitely recommend this cottage to families or groups of adults as there are three ample sized double bedrooms. Thank you for a lovely stay.
