  Merry, Cornwall. After a 5 hour journey, on arrival we were very disappointed to find the Chalet/Lodge was not at all clean and fresh. There was an unpleasant smell of staleness and odour from the furniture and floor mat in the sitting area. The mat was very dirty with lots of hairs and bits. The floors were dirty. The white doors and door frames have lots of brown staining on them. The shower tray looked unclean with hairs etc. The glasses were smudgy with fingerprints on them. Crockery and cutlery all needed a good wash. It was not a good feeling, in order to stay there we had to start cleaning the place, it was terrible. The windows needed to be open while we were in there as the smell from the settees and mat was strong and unpleasant. I, (Mrs.S) have a mild asthma condition which does not normally bother me too much but it was aggravated by the condition of this accommodation. I had to cover the chairs as best I could with towels to be able to sit on them. We did report this to you two days after our arrival as it was not improving. You sent a cleaner in that day and although slightly better it did not make that much difference. We got the vacuum cleaner out to try and clean the mat but this did not help as the smell from the vacuum was very strong. We think the dust bag must be over full, we did not attempt to open it, just tried to clean the mat with the hand brush but again not much good, it needs throwing away, and the settees need replacing. Totally unacceptable. This is the first time we have had to write a report like this after a holiday stay. Could not wait to get back home. It is very disappointing to have to write this as we have been waiting a long time for a holiday and what we got was a lot of stress.

  This property was exceptional! It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, beautifully presented & furnished to a high standard, no expense spared! Lovely to see everything thoughtout the property to do with local Cornish people & supplies , from art work, to coffee & tea to Eco friendly & recycleable cleaning supplies & guides, fabulous! My first photos of the holiday were of the kitchen utensils!! (Not my usual photos I may add!) They were sooooo clean, tidy & organised. Everything throughout this property had been thought of. A lovely welcome pack on arrival was a nice added touch. Location was perfect, just a 5 minute walk into the centre, if that. Be mindful though it is quite a climb back up the steep road, but this is just a small minor & if you've been to Padstow before you will be prepared for the many hilly street walks. The advertising photos for this property really do not do it enough justice. Would I stay at Gull Rock again ?... Most definitely!

  We stayed at Samphire House for 6 nights. Check in was easy, biscuits and tea waiting for us. It was lovely, comfy and homely. We had everything we needed including Tupperware for picnics and beach towels. Lovely patio to sit out and a barbecue . Perfect location 5 minutes walk in to town centre. The parking space is a real asset. We received a lovely card in the post wishing us a happy holiday which was a lovely touch from the Penny & Tony. Lots of eating places we loved Paul Ainsworth at No6, The Mariner on Rock, Rojanos In The Square and Rick Steins St.Petroc. Then you can cycle it all off on the Camel Trail. We hired our bikes from Trail Bike Hire. We would highly recommend staying at Samphire House.It has everything you need

  Property was very clean and tidy and the interior furniture and appliances were excellent most probably brand new.

  Access to the property for 90% of the walk from the designated car park was good however the last 10% was not so good especially if the grass was wet. (early mornings and rainy days). If the grassed areas were cut shorter it would have been a lot better. Maybe Horizontal blinds instead of vertical rollers as access through patio door is awkward when roller blind rolled down. Sykes HC posted the property to include the following: Washing machine & tumble dryer - incorrect There is a shared facility by Office reception. Off Road Parking for 1 - The car parking is only 1 min walk from a designated car park that isn't limited to just 1 vehicle. A superb Chalet.

  We spent a fantastic week at Samphire House. The location is excellent, just far enough away from the harbour that you can easily stroll into Padstow each evening when the crowds of tourists have gone away. There are many beaches within easy reach including an easy walk to Trevone to see the sunset. Car parking at the rear of the property is tricky with a big car, however, by the end of the holiday we were able to park with relative ease. The cottage has everything you need for a great Cornish getaway and we would recommend without hesitation
