What our customers say about their holidays

Substandard accommodation where even the fire blanket was missing from the kitchen!
How many rules and regulations are being broken there, I wonder?! Clearly, basic checks are not being carried out. The bed in the upstairs bedroom is of inferior quality, every time you roll over, it creaks and we are of average height and build! The bed linen was tired, the pillows were flat, lumpy and uncomfortable. When I stripped the bed, as you are unbelievably asked to do before you leave, I could see the pillows were so cheap and nasty that the filling had disintegrated. Many of the towels had marks and stains on them; thankfully as there were just two of us, we were able to find cleaner looking towels from other rooms. However, like the bedlinen, they have seen better days. Nobody likes a thin, scratchy towel. The windows inside and out are filthy, most especially in the small conservatory. The dining room table is ridiculous; the chairs donât pair with the table and even my 6â husband looked like a 5 year old trying to sit at the big table! The small, plastic chopping boards were utterly disgusting, so stained and filthy that they need replacing. Cupboard fronts sticky and dirty; the whole place needs a deep clean! The extension housing the two downstairs bedrooms has a horrid acrid smell, sadly reminiscent of a care home. We contacted the agent about where we were supposed to dispose of dog waste and anything made of glass as there was no provision for this. We had no response but luckily I spotted the holiday home rubbish collection guy who was extremely helpful! We have stayed in many holiday homes and this is the only one where not even a pint of milk was left in the fridge, nor a tea tray with home made cake awaiting our arrival. We were contacted by the agent upon our return home for feedback which I gave and you would have thought that at the very least, their response would be to offer a discount on any future bookings as an apology and gesture of goodwill. Nothing has been forthcoming so that tells you all you need to know! Why waste my time requesting feedback?

Wonderful cottage in a perfect location.
Just returned from a week at Beehive Cottage and it was one of the nicest UK breaks we have been on. The cottage was lovely and well equipped, had everything we needed. The garden is much nicer than we expected as there are no pictures of it, but there should be as it's really nice and we sat out there most evenings. From the description you also don't realise that when you go out of the cottage, the view is spectacular and there really ahould be some pictures of this as well. We would definitely return. Port Isaac is a stunning place and this cottage is perfect to explore this region. My only criticism would be the instructions on how to get to the cottage. We misunderstood and tried to access it from the wrong end of the coastal path resulting in my husband scratching the front wing of the car as it's too narrow. Not the best start to the holiday, but it was OK once we got in the garden and opened a bottle of wine! Once we explored, we realised you access the garages by coming through the coastal car park, opening a barrier that says private road and the narrow entrance it tries to explain on the instructions is like a small underpass under some apartments, not the footpath on the coastal path from the other end near the front of the cottage. We did ask the neighbour, but she's clearly sick of tourists and simply pointed to the way we ended up trying to go! The garage is super tight- we've got a Jag and it only just fitted. We did say we should have brought the mini as it would have been much easier, but then we couldn't have fitted everything we brought in that or had a comfortable 6 hour drive! Anyway perfect holiday, just needs clearer instructions on how to get your car in and be aware that the seagulls will steal your bacon butty if you leave it unattended in the garden!

Firstly, thank you for another wonderful holiday.
We can't wait to return to Homelands in September for 2 weeks. The cottage is superb with everything we could possibly need. It's even better than last year now that bedlinen and towels are provided. The cleanliness is 10/10 and the position on Dolphin Street is fantastic. Love the little patio and with the fence you get all the privacy you need. We love the walk from Polzeath to Rock via Daymer Bay. Being National Trust members we make use of the Lundy Bay carpark and walk from there. The Rock Inn is a great place for lunch especially if you're lucky enough to get a table on the balcony looking out to Padstow. Boscastle is another favourite. A lovely little village with some great walks. Last September (when we first stayed in Homelands) we did the walk from Port Isaac to Port Quin via the coastal path. Phew. Great views and so many steps. Loved it though but we were pleased to be able to walk back overland. There are too many places to mention them all individually but how can I not mention Port Isaac. The jewel in the crown. I could easily live there. Such a pretty village with all the individual houses and steep windy lanes. Absolutely fell in love with it when we first arrived last year and feel the same now. Finally I work in Customer Service and just wanted to say a big 'thank you' to the team. Whenever I've emailed, phoned or called into the office everyone had been really friendly and helpful. I know how important this is from both sides. Thanks again and see you in September.

The property looks very tired and in need of some TLC.
Jet spraying the walls to remove the caked in bird poo would be good The beds were extremely uncomfortable, the springs dug in and infact I tried to sleep in each bed as I could not avoid the springs in the main bed. My son, who is less sensitive than me, also had the same problem. It would be helpful to provide cleaning products, there were no surface sprays or cleaning materials for the bathroom, the toilet brush was broken. I would usually give the shower a quick clean everyday it would be great to have a shower cleaner and a useable toilet brush. This is the first time I have stayed in a cottage that doesn't provide a "care package" of milk tea bags and often other goodies, just to get you going. The skylights need something you can open them with and need blinds as the sun shines in directly, which is wonderful, but not so good when you are trying to keep the rooms.cool. Sorry for the long list, but I would want to know if it were my property. Also storage, we found the hoover in front of the door in the downstairs bedroom and the mop and bucket behind the arm chair! We loved the location and views from the upstairs bedroom.

I loved Beehive Cottage.
It had everything I needed for my weeks stay. The garage was an added bonus, just taking a couple of times to really get the hang of the space, but was really useful. I had a MINI Countryman which Iâd say is the largest sized car youâd want to attempt to park in. The garden was a beautiful space to chill in when I was done with exploring for the day. Inside, the main bedroom was super comfy and light and airy, with a lovely view. Iâm funny about beds, and this one I slept in like a brickâ¦unusual for me! Going to sleep listening to the waves was magical. The kitchen and living space was practical and clean. I would definitely love to return. It was my first time using Sykes Holidays/John Bray and the one bit of advice Iâd give would be to arrange for a welcome pack; just something nice and practical to greet you to your holiday after a long drive. It would really add that touch of a warm welcome and personally I really noticed itâs absence having had something at all other companies Iâve used over the years. Other than that it suited my every need and Iâm likely to book it again in the future. Nikki x
