What our customers say about their holidays
Miss Rebekah Davies Edwards - Verified booking
The property on the whole was lovely. The living room was comfortable and relaxing and the the hot tub was a welcome addition. The owners also provided milk, scones, jam, clotted cream and a bottle of wine which was very kind. The area is beautiful and so easily accessible for many nearby beaches and attractions. Unfortunately upon turning on the TV in the downstairs bedroom we found the screen had been damaged prior to our stay and so we could not watch TV in bed. Not a huge issue but we would have liked to use it as we don’t have a TV in our room at home and it would have been lovely for a lazy morning in bed with a cuppa whilst on a break. There was also a large amount of flies within the property on arrival and we struggled to get them out. We of course understand the property is on a farm so there will be many around, but perhaps some fly screens or a fly zapper of some kind could be fitted to help. Some of the kitchen utensils could do with replacing. The cheese grater was rusty and there were dead spiders within a jug in a cupboard. Overall though a lovely home from home in a beautiful location.

A beautiful gem of a property right in the heart of Whitby with gorgeous views on all levels overlooking the harbour and Abbey. Close proximity to the town and amenities, but still peaceful and calm. Plenty of homely additions to settle in whilst staying, as well as secure outdoor space that also makes the most of the beautiful view. Clear instructions and guides on how to get round and make the most of Whitby and the surrounding area, and overall very clean and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and book again if coming back to the area. However, it's best to be clear that some with accessibility issues may struggle with some aspects of this property/location. The parking may be tricky, there is a long stay car park just a few short minutes walk up a steep hill/stairs that costs just under £10 for 24 hours. The house is also over three levels with very steep stairs.

After telephoning the owner to find out how the dated tv set worked, he said he had tried to contact us to advise there was no hot water apart from the shower.
This meant boiling a kettle to wash hands after using the loo and to wash up. He never arranged any repair during our brief stay. The lavatory leaks and the cistern is faulty with haphazard results when flushing . Sometime the water stops . At other times there is a continual flow of water and the cistern noisily keeps trying to refill. The shower door handle was filthy and there was mould on the clothes airer in the shower room as well on the woodwork. The kitchen is not easy to prepare a meal in as the limited space is cluttered with ornaments and two microwaves. The bed is really only suitable for one person as if the loo is required during the night, one person has to climb over the other. The front door has a letter box without any back flap and so a draught comes through unless it is physically blocked.

Fantastic central property with a very home from home feel about it. Very spacious compared to others we have stayed in and really appreciated the lovely garden retreat at the back. Should be a 5 star Property! Whitby has it all and is our favourite seaside destination in Britain - Great shops the pavilion for entertainment buses to other lovely destinations such as Robins Hood Bay Staithes Eden Camp the moors. Loved the steam train journey to Pickering. Fantastic pubs and restaurants and would like to recommend the Duke of York and the Fisherman's Wife in particular. Can't rate Whitby or Yorkshire highly enough. We will be back next year. Friendly helpful knowledgeable staff.

The dirty carpet and sofa need replacing, a hard floor would be easier to keep clean.
Toilet cistern mechanism broken, we had to lift lid on cistern to operate flush. Nowhere in bathroom for toothbrushes etc except the floor!! A shelf would have been useful. Outside bin store was not nice to go into, rusty paint tins on floor. Cleaners need to pay attention to vacuuming as we found toenail clippings and a ring by bedside cabinet, not nice to tread on!! Patio was hardly big enough for the table and 2 chairs, one of which kept falling off in front of the door, not really somewhere we would choose to sit. Kitchen was well equipped and clean except for ship ornaments in window which had black mould on.
