  A beautiful, cosy cottage set in idyllic countryside. The Calf Pans have been restored to a very high standard, and the underfloor heating is amazing! A perfect location for the children to play outside, with lots of ducks, cats, pheasants, lambs and deer to spot. The owner is very friendly and kind, making us feel very welcome. The added extras of eggs, bread and some treats for the grown-ups and children made for a really personalised touch. There is lots to do and see in the surrounding area too. Masham has lots to offer - a weekly market, some great cafes and pubs, lots of local produce for sale. We very much enjoyed the Easter trail around the town centre! Other highlights were a visit to Stump Cross Caverns. A fantastic family day out, and a really good cafe too. We also visited Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Bird of Prey Sanctuary. The bird of prey talk was the best I have ever been to! There seems to be lots of lovely gardens (National Trust/RHS) to visit in the surrounding area, so will come and visit again in the summer months to see some of these places. Thank you very much for a fantastic stay. We will be back!

  This house is a lovely place for a family to relax and enjoy time together. Masham is a fantastic location, so much right on the doorstep so you hardly need drive although we explored Ripon and a nearby abbey. Walking with dogs and kids is great, market on your front door, pubs nearby and the breweries were all great places to visit. With art and coffee shops, two butchers and a fantastic grocers we enjoyed local produce as well as the pubs and the fish and chips – excellent! House is a brilliant size, rooms clean and well equipped with lovely bathrooms and lots of hot water. So nice to have the option of an open fire and so much space for all the family – huge fridge and two ovens as we like to cook, perfect! Easy to clean floor meant the dogs were fine on the ground floor and the games room was enjoyed by all. We loved the area, loved the house and really enjoyed a wonderful weekend.

  We could not believe how wonderful the calf pens are, located just a handful of miles of the beautiful Yorkshire dales and a mile from the quaint little town of Masham boasting two magnificent breweries. Calf pens is well located approximately 3/4 mile from the main road so it is very quiet and peaceful with the river ure passing close by. Full marks to Mrs prue keigwin owner of calf pens whom has supplied a top grade holiday let, everything you need is there, fully equipped kitchen two lovely sized bedrooms with either single beds or they can be joined to make into super king sized beds, the bathroom has a large walk in shower, and the lounge/dining room is large with good sized tv freeview box DVD player, wood burner and the throughout the property which is on one level is a beautiful heated tiled floor.

  This large property is very comfortable and spacious spread out over three floors plus the play barn a few steps across the small courtyard garden. The property overlooks the market square with pubs, cafes, bakeries, takeaways, and sweet shops right on your doorstep. A larger food store is found a few minutes away, as well as several breweries if you want to sample some local ales. The countryside is almost on your doorstep with riverside walks a few minutes away on foot. Many other local walks and areas of interest can be found within 5 - 10 mile radius of the property which is ideal if you do not want to spend hours in the car.

  The Calf pens is a delightful cottage. The surrounding is very peaceful. There is no traffic noise, all you can hear are ducks, sheep and cows. The cottage is located outside Masham next to the Marfield Wetlands, a "Site of Importance for Nature Conservation". So there are plenty of walks nearby. On the other hand, the village with its shops isn´t far away. Sights such as Fountains Abby and Studley Royal Water Garden, Ripon Cathedral, Brimham Rocks, Middleham Castle are within easy reach - as is the whole Yorkshire dales NP. And if it rains York ist less than 1 hour away by car. We enjoyed our stay very much.
