  Very hard to locate property which was only directed by a lady at the top of Rectorick Mill entrance who stopped us from entering a Festival that was on there for the weekend! ( Q loud music all weekend) When we finally found our accommodation (through a building site and a long dirt track ) it was clear that the three properties had ONLY been finished in the past couple of days.. The cottage itself was very clean, tidy and newly built ( we were the first guests to stay) Decor was very pleasant inside and nicely done. Kitchen fully equipped apart from there is NO washing machine or tumble dryer as stated on the website. Obviously a massive error on the Original Cottages part as we made contact with Trevor ( the owner) who told us that he had told them that the washing facilities were not ready and they were infact shared with the other two properties.) he did his very best and managed to install 2 washing machines and a tumble dryer on the Thursday in a wooden summer house a short distance from the properties. There was also a pool table and some gym equipment which was dangerous for children to be in there on their own. The house is not walkable to the beach you drive and pay £5 all day in the two car parks in Mawgan Porth which isn’t bad if you plan to stay all day. Sadly the weather wasn’t on our side so we had a few day trips out. I emailed and tried to phone the company but no one got back to me until the Monday and offered no help apart from contact the owner! Which we did.. I updated them on the washing facilities and had absolutely no reply back. Shame on you Original cottages!

  This is a characterful cottage in an ideal location for exploring the northern beaches of Cornwall, close to Newquay and Padstow, located in a lovely village with a great beach only a 5 minute drive away.

  Nearby airport is not an issue. The cottage is well equipped for any holiday, lovely large open fireplace in lounge, good sized kitchen which is part of an extension, great utility room which would be great for coming back to, after a wet day out, nice use of surfboards to decorate the property along with some nice artwork on the walls, great large dining room table, large wet room downstairs with OK shower (though slow to drain) nice garden space at the front of the property. The house is let down by being tired in places - upstairs bathroom is desperately in need of an update eg. Discoloured toilet seat making you feel uncomfortable and clearly there used to be a shower over bath but is now a hand held shower, red sofa in lounge has clearly seen better days, carpets have a grubby feel, the two fridges both look old eg no door trays in kitchen fridge suggesting they were broken, strange use of wooden boxes in fire place, no welcome guide to tell you what to do with recycling waste or where your nearest GP, vet is etc. Overall this was a good place to explore the beauty of Cornwall in a cottage that grows on you over the week despite it being tired in places and in need of an update.   The property was to a high standard, comfortable and accessible. The garden was beautiful and the kids and dog loved playing on the grass. Rooms were all a decent size and two bathrooms were convenient. The outdoor shower was especially good for post beach and sea swimming. Kitchen was well equipped although the owner could/should replace the tiny fridge and freezer for a more suitably sized one. It got a bit tedious always having to walk to the utility area to reach the larger fridge. A car charger for electric cars would be helpful or an outdoor socket on the driveway. The dryer could/should be plumbed in to remove the water or a sink added to the utility otherwise you are carrying a full drawer of water to the closest sink/front door. The drying rack for wetsuits was awesome but again once the tray below was filled with water it was a balancing act to empty it in the closest sink/front door. We had a brilliant time and would thoroughly recommend.

  On arrival the property looked stunning. Inside the property itself it was obvious work had been done to do it up as the decoration and furniture was lovely. On closer inspection though I feel the finish in most of the rooms was poor, a lot of the old fitted wardrobes and cupboards in the kitchen etc had just been repainted and the bathrooms were not finished to a high standard. For the cost and location of this property I expected more. My daughter lay on her bedroom floor and noticed it was covered in what looked like dog hairs. So I also had to go round every room and thoroughly clean the carpets to remove any excess hair that the vacuum hadn’t picked up. The outside shower is also permanently stuck on hot so we couldn’t actually use it. Overall the property was great and we had a lovely week but the list of small issues let it down slightly

  This is a wonderful house in a fabulous location. The view is spectacular , the house is located in a quiet and secluded area, perfect for us . Very comfortable and well equipped , we were a party of 6 related adults with a very enthusiastic dog, she loved the beach which is easily walkable and knew where it was after first visit . Only downside for us is that the fabulous garden is easily escaped by a beach loving dog which we managed by close supervision and fortunately she has good recall ,this needs to be considered when booking . Otherwise we had great fun with her playing ball in the lovely garden , this would not put me off booking again as we loved this spacious house and were blessed by amazing weather
