What our customers say about their holidays

The house is a stones throw from the lovely village shops, cafes, pubs, and of course the castle in Tintagel.
The surrounding countryside is stunning, plenty of footpaths and walks for the dogs, and only a short drive to any number of beautiful beaches. Kingfisher house is well laid out and had everything needed for our stay, including some bonus fudge and biscuits (which went down very well with the teenager). The kitchen is well equipped should you need to cook, and the lounge area/dining area was comfy. The only thing that could have made it even better would be a small side table, as it was a wrench to leave the sofa to get the cup of tea from the dining table. Bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, with linen and towels provided, and although quite close to the road the noise was minimal and at night was almost non existent. The heating took the edge off the Autumn evening chill and there was always plenty of hot water. Unfortunately the bathroom fan did not appear to be working, and as the water was so hot, the bathroom did get very steamed up and was lacking ventilation. We did use the dehumidifier provided, but it didnât work particularly well. One thing to be aware of is that parking is a more than a little on the tight side, even in a Micra. Luckily no one parked in the space next to me, but I can imagine it may be difficult if there is another car. Reversing in was definitely easier than reversing out. All in all we had a lovely stay, and would be happy book if visiting the area again.

Overall we loved our stay at Jonwyns.
We thought there were some really great touches - well equipped kitchen (lots of plates, bowls, glasses, serving dishes etcâ¦.) comfy sofas and living space, light and airy in the kitchen-living room area. Second sitting room cosy and would be perfect in winter. Loved the view to the mine. Garden nice - just wished we could have used it (we had wet weather all week). We did manage to get one BBQ in. Nicely decorated. Wi-Fi was very good! Good instructions to find it in welcome email. This property is like a home rather than just a place to stay. A couple of very small details: 1) Black out blind in bunk bed room 2) Window cleaner? 3) A washing machine combined with a drier. We had a wet week and the option to tumble dry a few things would have been good. 4) I meant to leave a note but the sink and shower in the main bathroom did not drain very well. Probably just needs some unblocking liquid. 5) King sized bed or even just replace the mattresses? 6) The cottage had a real fusty smell on arrival. This subsided after a day or two after opening all windows but maybe on exchange day it would be good to open all the windows. These points did not really affect our stay and we would absolutely stay again but just thought weâd say as sometimes the finer details can make a difference.

I believe the write-up failed my expectations.
It was minimal and didn't give a true picture. If the detail had been accurate, it would have met my expectations. The cottage was basic and tired looking, although very clean. The sofas and bed were quite hard and old. The towels were old although clean. There were no sharp knives which hindered catering and could have been put in the description so that I could have taken some to use. The shower's pressure was minimal. There were no curtains or blinds on the rear windows (only nets) and didn't feel private when people were walking up and down for many hours on the path behind. It would be impossible to have a private shower in the evening with no curtains and the light on. The internet went down half way through which meant that I vacated the cottage earlier than the checkout day because BT weren't going to find the fault for 2 days and I had online work commitments. Plus points - the cottage was quiet, there was ample parking, nearby beauty spot of Bossiney Cove, the host was polite.

Beautiful cottage, comfortable and very well equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings.
We would recommend it and would love to stay here again. However a couple of things need addressing. The heating didn't work well and it took 2 days to get the underfloor heating really warm downstairs and the radiators elsewhere were barely lukewarm for most of the time. Thankfully there were 2 portable radiators which worked well and we were able to warm it up with those. If they hadn't been provided we would have called the owners. We did not need to use the second living room which is just as well as it was like a fridge. Also the bins at the front door were overflowing on the day we arrived with both recycling and rubbish. The bins were not emptied during our stay and no info as to when they should be put out was provided. This needs addressing as it's not a good welcome to what is otherwise a fantastic cottage in a lovely location. Jonwyns is close to beautiful Trebarwith Strand and Tintagel, and many other lovely places. The well enclosed garden was very safe for our dogs.

We had a great week at Jonwyns.
The inside of the house is well equipped and to a great standard. Outside space is ample for a family holiday with a grass area and also a large patio are with patio table and chairs. Even has a pizza oven but we werenât brave enough to fire it up. We made use of the log burner in the main living area on the chillier nights and when the weather was a little inclement. The cleanliness of the property was excellent and no issues that we could find. The location of Jonwyns is ideal to use as a base for North Cornwall and South Devon. Within easy reach of Bude, Wadebridge and other tourist destinations. We walked locally down to the âPort Williamâ pub in Trebarwith Strand. It is a good walk but worth it with the food and beers as a reward. We also ate out in Tintagel at a little vegan restaurant called âVegaâ, great food, good portions and friendly proprietor. All in all this is an excellent property and would definitely consider staying again when we are back in the area.
