  This is a fabulous lodge, in an excellent location.

  We were so lucky to have found it, it made our stay in North Yorkshire perfect. It was well situated to reach all the places we wanted to visit. It was spacious, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. It had the comfiest beds I've ever slept in. The whole lodge had a touch of luxury about it from the lovely soft carpets in the bedrooms, the chandeliers, the modern kitchen and ensuite bathrooms to the hot tub ( the only point about the hot tub we did have was it could have been a bit bigger, as we are all really tall people). The terrace area at the back was completely private and the view to the hills lovely. My daughter loved watching the rabbits and pony in the field behind us. The lodge park is gated and safe for children to play. It it situated behind a pub called The Blackwell Ox Inn, which is a great little place, with a beer garden. It mainly serves excellent Thai food, but also has other options. The pub is quite busy, but that had no impact on the lodge as it was situated just far enough away for it to be still quiet and tranquil. It was good to have somewhere to pop in after a day out, if you want to. The staff were really friendly. We would definitely recommend this place to stay.

  Very good accommodation overall, comfortable bed nice location very quiet.

  However seating rather low for elderly people. The walk in shower needs a grab rail for safety this applies to people of all ages and abilities as anyone can slip. The owner did provide a non slip bath matt when I discussed this which was appreciated but again this needs to be standard equipment. The front door lock was a nightmare to use very difficult to lock it requiring some force and speed to operate it some one who had arthritis or weakness in their wrists would really struggle.

  This place is a hidden gem.

  Located in a part of North Yorkshire that I had never been to before. The area was so quiet and relaxing, just to be able to switch of from things was lovely. The lodge was very cosy, clean and spacious. The bed comfortable and the wifi fully working and was able to contact family abroad, great. As for the pub, the staff attentive, the food was always tasty and very well presented. The venue was very accommodating, and people very helpful. Was sad to leave the place.

  4.8 ⭐️ Other than the back door getting stuck and needed a bit of force to open, the lodge was perfect.

  The pub (Blackwel ox) served some of the best Thai food I've had in the UK. I would suggest trying the salt and pepper chicken wings, lol. I would highly recommend staying 3+ nights! Will definitely be going back again. If there is one thing I could suggest to make the cabins perfect. Is if (you) they had a canopy over the top of the hot tub.. as the British, whether it is well temperamental, to say the least. Thank you, Blackwell ox.. Be seeing you soon!

  Outstanding as always.

  Stayed at the Blackwell Ox about 5 or 6 times now (first time in this lodge) and they never fails to impress. Been to many lodges around the country and this is by far our favourite place to stay. Total comfort, great location, an outstanding pub with authentic Thai food, lodges distanced enough from each other to not have any issues with noise/privacy, feels very secluded but only a stone throw from the pub.
