  Location is brilliant as it's in walking distance to Whitby town centre and, if you're lucky, parking is free outside the property. The property was clean and tidy and has many original features however the main living room is very dark and dingy. There was plenty of hot water with good pressure and the central heating worked well. Thankfully there is a microwave as the cooker has seen better days. The outside yard, described as a place to get some fresh air, is actually a 10ft by 5ft walled in space to access the outside toilet, washing machine and back gate. No one in their right mind would consider sitting out there! The master bedroom is over full with period furniture to the point that the door doesn't open properly which is very poor as it is at the top of a very steep stairway and small landing. The beddng is worn, old and in need of replacing or repair. The bathroom is very nice and the cast iron bath is quite comfy however the towels are old, discoloured and threadbare.

  The house was very well presented and great for a family with 3 older children. It was lovely and warm and cosy. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. The location was great for an October break as we didn't need to take all our gear down to the beach at this time of year. Walking into Whitby was easy, although the walk back up was a little more challenging. The footpaths down into Whitby are quite steep and slippery if the weather is cold or wet, however we walked everyday and didn't need to use our cars for the whole week. There was enough parking for 2 cars on the drive, 1 large estate and 1 small car, there was some roadside parking too.

  We had a wonderful holiday and I was very satisfied with everything. Just a couple of pieces of feedback: the property was really hard to find as the 'Stanton House' sign is worn and obscured, and, being on a Crescent, we found at least 2 other properties with the number '4'. Secondly, the 9.00 am check-out is somewhat brutal - even 10.00 am would have been more civilised and we are very early risers! But, it was a wonderful place to stay and perfect for a mini-break in Whitby and the surrounding area.

  Redroofs was an absolute delightful experience. We have three young kids, and made the 10 minute walk to the beach most days, the property is a brilliant location. It also had everything we needed…a washing machine and tumble dryer is a must for us so this was perfect. Whitby is a lovely place, and it was brilliant to have a lovely holiday home to enjoy it in.

  Outside toilet was great ,though not for everyone.we feel we have discovered a little gem , been coming to Whitby for a decade but always more to explore. pannett museum and galleries is the best museum ever,like Whitby itself it is fascinating,a little macabre and always something new to discover. We loved it,perfect for us. Hope to book for next year
