  What a marvellous manor house!

  From the moment we entered the gates, we felt like we were in a truly royal place. Our group of 16 had an incredible time here. The house was immaculate, spacious, and beautifully decorated throughout. The well-equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals for our group, and the luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms made us feel like we were staying in a five-star hotel. The grand staircase, chandeliers, lounges, and dining room added a royal touch to the experience. The location was fantastic, closer to tourist destinations in the Lake District than we expected, with easy access to Keswick, Maryport, and Whitehaven. The town centre was only a short walk away, and we found plenty of great pubs and takeaways nearby (Double Happiness Chinese takeaway was our favourite!). We loved the on-site facilities like the games room and hot tub, though we couldn’t enjoy the garden due to rain. The hosts were incredibly helpful and responsive, and the security deposit and check-in process were seamless and straightforward. The only downside was that the broadband occasionally slowed down during peak hours, especially when streaming, but this was a minor inconvenience. We already miss the place and are planning our next visit! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing, luxurious, and memorable getaway.

  Sonya's Cottage was amazing.

  The cottage is in a beautiful rural location over looking the Solway Firth. The area is peaceful and relaxing and a fantastic place to visit. The cottage was spotlessly clean, fantastically equipped and a wonderful place to spend a weeks holiday. The hosts were both delightful and made us feel so welcome. Any one thinking of booking this cottage would not be disappointed. The cottage is beautifully decorated to a high standard, the beds were super comfortable, and the shower was fantastically powerful. The hot tub was easy to use and we spent some pleasant evenings star gazing and bat spotting. Lots of lovely beaches in the area, and only a short drive into Scotland or a short trip into the Lake district and Hadrian's wall. A brilliant place to stay for the whole family.

  This cottage and location are both hidden gems!

  Quite remote, no pubs, shops or beach nearby so not for everyone but for the likes of us, the peace and quiet, the fantastic view over the estuary and the walks round the nature reserves were just what we appreciate. We came home feeling re-charged and relaxed even though the weather was more wet than sunny. Never been to the area before but with the roman wall and the remains of the roman fort close by we enjoyed the history. The cottage is very comfortable and finished to a high standard and there is everything there you need for self catering. Due to the distance we had to go we just had one meal out at the pub but the hospitality and the food were spot on! Great holiday.

  I chose possibly the worst week for a walking holiday on the Solway coast: with Storm Isha and Storm Jocelyn leaving me only one day without gale-force winds and lashing rain, and two days in which it was unsafe to leave the cottage.

  It was not a total disaster because this cottage was so comfortable to be stuck in. A genuinely well-equipped kitchen area (sharp knives!!), comfortable sofa, comfortable bed, a really good shower, in general things that were solid and didn't fall apart. I was impressed that neither the electricity nor the wifi was affected by the storms. One minor thing: as in almost all holiday cottages and B&Bs; I've stayed at, there wasn't enough light in the main room to read comfortably by. An Anglepoise or similar would have made all the difference.

  I absolutely loved my stay at Sonya's Cottage - I didn't want to leave yesterday!

  The cottage itself is warm, cosy, comfortable and characterful - in the most stunning location overlooking the Solway. I like birdwatching and it was the perfect setting from which to view the birds on the water's edge. Phil and Naomi were welcoming, friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to successfully resolve an issue with the WiFi. I had friends visiting during my stay and they were equally impressed with the cottage. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it others and I will definitely go back.
